Picking up the broken pieces

I slowly opened my eyes as I observed the unfamiliar surroundings, and felt my heart pound. I began to panic upon seeing the IV needle in my arm. "Whoa, whoa, calm down! Your safe!" I heard a familiar voice. I looked over to see CC on his feet. That's when it hit me. I'd been saved by Andy. Again. "Where are the others?" I croaked. "Cafeteria. I didn't feel hungry, so I stayed here." He smiled. As if on cue, the rest of the guys came in with satisfied looks on their faces. "Dude, hospital food is amazing!" Ashley said. Then he turned to look at me, and his eyes widened. "Your awake!" Jake yelled. The guys told him to lower his voice. "So, I don't wanna make you uncomfortable...but...I didn't tell them about the suicide attempt...said you were just laying by the bridge unconscious....so will you tell me why you wanted to end it?" He asked.

I swallowed, then asked "How long have I been out?" "About a day....why?" he asked. "Turn to the news." I said. Sure enough, there was a story on my fucked up night. It showed mu dads mug shot, and a birds eye view of my house. After the story was over, the guys turned off the TV and looked at me with a strange mixture of horror and sympathy. "So, your Alex?" CC asked. I nodded. Suddenly a guy walked into my hospital room. "Miss Bierwenski?" he asked, his voice gravelly. I nodded. "I'm gonna have to ask you some questions. I'm detective Jonathon R. Haley. " "Oh. O...kay..." I sighed. It was gonna be a loooong day.
