The Fire in Your Hands

After spending well over $4,000 on the babies we returned home, putting the babies back in their baskets while we put their cribs together. Andy had dark circles around his eyes, he smoked more the past few days, and he twirled his fingers through his hair more. I
Something was wrong with him.
I put the pieces of the crib down and moved to sit behind him. I wrapped my legs around his lap and moved my hands lovingly up and down his back. "Everything okay?"
he sighed deeply, looking at the ceiling. "The nightmares are getting worse"
"What were they this time?"
"last night it was kids being raped with screwdrivers, someone's head being torn off, and then"
he trailed off. His eyes were distant. I gave him a few seconds. "Then what baby?"
"a face. I don't know what. Nothing human. Evil. Satan. It kept whispering "you're coming with me"." Then I saw a woman with hollow eyes eating someone."
I sighed deeply in empathy and frustration. I laid my upper body on his back and my head on his neck, lightly kissing it and wrapping my arms around him protectively. I heard his breathing hitch and I looked up at him and saw a tear running down his face. it broke my heart. I hated it that he had to go through this. That Cathedral won't help him because "Therapy and Psychologists are for the weak. Cathedral peace keepers know the true horrors of the world as the normal." It sickened me.
"I can't do this anymore."
I wrapped my arms tighter around him, as I felt a tear roll down my cheek as well. He was my everything. I couldn't stand to see him like this, the awful things he had to experience every night. I swear I'll do anything in my power to get him out of it, but for now all I could do is hold him protectively and soothingly while he struggled with himself.

I leaned up and kissed his cheek.
"I love you Andy. I'm so sorry."
