God Won't Save You From This

The Bat Is Out Of The Bag

Jinxx’s POV
I was furious. I didn’t want Marshall to even dare to try to bribe me over to his “Army”. No, I was already stuck on one side of this damn war without a choice, but at least I agree with it. The werewolves were just chaos. They have no plans for what to do with the U.S. other than to infect or kill everyone here. Like they did to my Sammi.
“Leave now, you Russian freak!” I screeched, fighting against Jake to go rip his throat out. Marshall laughed wildly, not paying attention to the tall shadow behind him that I knew to be Nicholas. Even though he gave me the creeps, I have to thank Nicholas for the countless times he’s helped us out without making us aware of his presence.
“Hello, Marshall. How about you get the fuck away from my favourite humans?” Nicholas said, rubbing Marshall’s shoulders gently. I couldn’t help but giggle at how uncomfortable Marshall was. His face had turned a dark red and his breathing was no longer steady.
“You mean my soon to be wolf? You know the transformation isn’t complete yet. I can still use him to my benefit.” He said calmly, pushing Nicholas away. It didn’t do him any good; Nicholas just floated on over to me.
“Show them. Reveal your fangs. Show them, Jeremy.” Nicholas whispered into my ear. His soft, angelic voice was enough to make anyone quiver. But I held my ground, because revealing my fangs to my friends could get me killed.
“No, Nicholas.” I said, slowly standing up and resting my hand on his shoulder. He grabbed it and pushed my jacket sleeve up. Studying my scars, his face turned completely white. But instead of showing any sympathy, he just pulled my sleeve back down.
“You do realize that if you keep cutting and don’t start feeding, you’re going to die, right? Luckily for you, it looks like you can start with Jake.” Nicholas whispered, his voice trembling slightly. My eyes widened and I turned red in anger.
“I will not bite Jake!” I screamed, revealing my fangs. Gasps were heard all around the room. I couldn’t believe the mistake I had just made. I hid my fangs and backed away from Nicholas. I turned around to CC, who was holding Andy. They looked like a mix of angry and terrified.
“Guys, I…” I started, but Andy cut me off.
“Go! Get out of here! We’ve been running from the Daywalkers, and you’re telling us that you’ve been one all along?” Andy yelled, his hands turning to bear paws.
“No, I w-wasn’t. I was bitten a few months ago; it caused me to get really sick.” I said, feeling my world begin to fall apart. Marshall laughed and morphed into a wolf. He howled and ran out of the hall.
“Andy Biersack, I presume? You’ll be needing Jeremy. He’s the strongest of your group. In fact he’s stronger than all of the wolves and Daywalkers combined. If I were you, I would keep him close.” Nicholas said, and he stomped on my foot. I hissed, opening my mouth wide enough to show the entirety of my fangs.
“See, he’s special. He has the biggest fangs and the most powerful venom.” Nicholas said, stroking my lips. It felt awkward and I hissed again, accidentally stabbing his finger and causing it to bleed. He smirked and stuck his finger into his mouth. I glared at him, and turned back to my friends. What did Jake think of this? To be honest, that’s probably the only question on my mind right now.
“I-I… I don’t know what to say, Jinxx.” Jake said, stuttering and backing away. I didn’t know if it was the vampirism or Jake that made my heart stop and sink like a stone in water.
“Don’t say anything. I’m not bad, I’m not. There’s no difference other than that you know what you didn’t before.” I said, desperately trying to keep him from hating me. But I’m probably too late, just like I was with Sammi. I was too late to save her.
“I don’t know, Jinxx. This is too much!” Jake said, on the brink of tears. I tried to go comfort him, but he pushed me away. “Don’t touch me!” He yelled, shoving me to the ground and running out of the city hall. I got up and ran after him. I couldn’t let anything happen to him, especially with all the wolves around.
Luckily, it was raining so he left footprints in the mud. I followed them, panicking when I realized they led me to the lake. I stopped at a rock hanging over the water.
“Jake!” I yelled into the rain. I got no answer. Looking at the rock, I noticed that the muddy footprints led right to the edge of the rock. After that, there was just a big spot of mud on the drop-off.
I looked around under the water. It was much brighter than I expected it to be, but things had been a lot different for me since I was bitten by Nicholas. I saw a black figure sinking to the bottom of the lake. It took me less than a second to realize the figure was Jake. There was a wire wrapped around his ankle, pulling him to the bottom. I jumped in, wrapping my arm around Jake.
The wire had no intentions of letting go anytime soon, so I reached down and grabbed it. It fought against my grip, but I managed to pull it off. I could feel Jake’s chest fall quickly as he ran out of air. Swimming for the surface, I prayed that Jake was going to be okay.
“Jake!” I cried, laying him down on a large, smooth rock. He wasn’t breathing. I had to think quickly. I regained all of my knowledge of how to do CPR. I laced my fingers together and started pumping them on his chest. After thirty pumps, I gave him two mouthfuls of air. Nothing. I continued the cycle five times before doubting whether or not he was alive. I checked his pulse. Nothing. I kept doing the cycle, even though tears were streaming down my face.
“Jake, just wake up!” I cried, and I gave him more air and continued to pump. I did the cycle four more times before I gave up. He was dead. I kissed his lips, and accidentally drew blood. I licked my lips as I pulled away. I let my body fall to the ground, and I cried. I cried because I was a freak, I cried because my best friend and love died, I cried because I had let not only myself and Jake down, but also my friends.
“Jinxx quit crying, I hate to see you cry.” Jake said. I looked down to see him coughing up water and smiling at me.
“I thought you were dead!” I cried, squeezing him tightly. He chuckled lightly, and rubbed my back.
“I thought I was dead too. Then those perfect lips of yours clashed against mine, and I had to come back to make contact with those lips again.” Jake said, and he kissed my cheek. I don’t know what shocked me more. The fact that he wanted to kiss me again, or that he came back to life. I think that he wanted to kiss me again was much more shocking.
“You… you like my kisses?” I asked, and he laughed, nodding. I smiled nervously. I could hardly breathe I was so happy that he was alive.
“Can I tell you a secret?” Jake said. I nodded, and leaned to him. “I really like you. Like, more than a normal guy should.” Jake said, whispering into my ear. Wasn’t he just running from me because I’m a freak? I thought he was afraid of Daywalkers!
“But… you ran away from me…” I trailed. Jake looked down at the ground, frowning. He rubbed my jaw, making me show my fangs. He looked directly at them, studying them. Jake slid his hands down to my neck, and he pushed my hair away, revealing where Nicholas had bitten me. Good thing he didn’t know the story behind why I was bitten. I didn’t even want to think about it. He traced his fingers along the charred bite mark.
“I can get used to the idea of you being a Daywalker. I don’t think you’re that bad.” He said, stroking the bite mark carefully. I shrugged and closed my mouth. I hope I’m not that bad.

Notes

I just finished changing some things around in this chapter so it comes off less Twilight-esque. God I hate Twilight. But here ya go. No, the fangs are not retractable. They can only be hidden if he keeps his mouth closed.
