Sanctuary

White Feather

Locked and loaded. I spent another moment staring my self down in the mirror. I was a warrior. I was going to end this.

This is it.

My motivation, an oath I've sworn to defend.

I was in my war clothes. Not the normal disguise. All weapons showing. I had two big swords strapped in an X on my back. My row of daggers down the arms and legs, two powerful guns hooked to my belt, a small pouch of poison around my neck - I was deadly.

To win the honor of coming back home again.

I looked like myself. Black eyebrows arched in defiance, hell fire in my eyes. I was ready to kill. I frightened myself honestly. I felt the burning butterfly pit in my stomach, in my arms and hands. I knew that feeling far too well. I was on a bloodlust.

7 months away from home on this goddamn mission , 24 kills between Andy and I in this time. We were ready to be home. I couldn't wait for the night that I could lay in our soft bed, curled in his arms, listening to his steady, soothing heartbeat. When we could get this over with.
But there were things we had to do first.

My true vocation, and now my unfortunate friend - you will discover a war you're unable to win.

This girl was near. We had to have hope. i was broken from my thoughts when I felt two strong arms snake around me. I melted into him.
"Always."
"Always."

Hand in hand, we walked down the hallway of this strange building. Maybe a bank upon further inspection. I loved the feeling of my hand in his. We were essentially staring death in the face. But I didn't care. One hand occupied by the other's, the remaining hand holding a very menacing gun, we reached the front desk. The pitiful, frightened woman gasped, cowered and reached for the stack of cash on the deek to hand to us when we approached. I don't blame her. If I was normal, and saw two military armed teenagers approaching, I would have shit.
Andy waved his hand as a sign of we don't need money.
His dark voice spoke to the shaking woman, "we need to reach everyone in the building quickly. Intercom."
She nodded and handed us the phone on her desk. I took it and spoke.

"Everyone listen carefully," I heard my voice come over the speaker. "Everyone stay in a room, lock the door, and secure yourself. No one leaves, no one comes in. Stay quiet and obedient. This building is now under lockdown by orders of the MI-5 sector of Cathedral intelligence." I looked back to the shaking woman and she took the phone from me and ran to the office behind her, slamming the door and locking it. I heard a variety of other doors being shut as well when I heard something that caught my attention. Voices yelling, a strange metal sound then a door closing. Andy must have heard it too, he snapped his head in the direction I was listening. I pulled on his hand and he both started running towards that sound. We got to metal double doors and pushed. They wouldn't open. We pushed some more and still no budge.
"Back." Andy commanded.
I stepped back and he raised his gun. Two shots to the lock and the doors limply swung open. We shoved them aside and fiercely walked through two tunnel like hallways, quickly. We saw a dim light and the sound of men laughing, faint sobbing.
When we walked in authoritatively, we were appalled by the sight.

"HEY," Andy yelled harshly. It shook me to the bone, he had a way of scaring you without doing anything. Five men turned around, all reaching for something. Probably a weapon they never had the chance to get. Andy and I both raised our guns and shot, instantly killing whoever got in front of our bullets. Three seconds gone, five men dead.
Blood and bodies on the floor, we took in the sight around us. Sex toys. Everywhere. Harsh ones. And then straight in front of us, a small, naked blonde child - beaten and bloody - hanging on an X shaped cross. The sight killed me. Andy and I both looked to each other and then ran to her. She looked at us coming towards her and screamed. She started sobbing loudly. I tried my best to comfort her.
"Shhh, it's okay, you're okay." We quickly got the restraints off her wrists and the fell forwards, into me. I caught her and rubbed soothing circles into her back. She held onto me and I talked calmly to her while Andy got the rest of the restraints off her. Once he freed her he looked around for something to cover her. I saw a fire start to break out near the thermostat on the wall.
"Andy we have to get out quick."
His eyes widened as he picked the girl up. We ran. Fire engulfing the room and bodies behind us. We ran.
We ran back to our headquarters. We ran our flatlining, golden haired child to medical attention. We ran from ourselves. We ran from the possibility we had failed.

I am Indestructible.
