The Overprotective One

Highway Heaven

*Nyx P.O.V.*

I sped onto the highway, heading south. No one was on the highway, but I didn't mind. I looked to my left over my shoulder and stared at the black water. It reflected the stars and moon on the slippery surface. I turned to face to the road. I pushed my bike faster to make the 2 and half hour trip go faster. I hope I remembered how to get down there still. I rapidly approached the exit for San Diego. I turned off and I slowed, noticing other drivers.

I had been on my bike for awhile just driving and making occasional slow turns. Thats when I saw the bridge. It was tall and stood high above the bay. It was decorated with a lights, and connected Coronado and San Diego. I slowed paying close attention to the overhead signs. I turned down one and felt the immediate change. The front of my white and lime green Energica Sportsbike turned upwards struggling to go up the hill it was faced with. I revved the engine slightly, giving me a jolt of power. I sped up the bridge, and noticed it only had two lanes. I sighed and moved over to be in the fast lane. Being that close to the edge freaked me out. I made the long gentle turn and slowly descended and exited the bridge. Turning off 4th Street I went down Glorietta Boulevard. I smiled slightly as I turned onto 2nd then onto A Avenue. As I got onto 1st then Marine Way, my smile faded. I parked right in front of the beach and turned my bike off.

I hopped off the bike, taking my helmet off as well. I then realized I didn't have my phone, or iPod. I had no idea what time it was, and no one would know where I was. I sighed and cursed myself lightly, but walked onto the sand. My boots kicked up dust sending particles everywhere. I shook slightly and snuggled into my jacket. I sat down pulling up my pants as I went. The last thing I needed was sand in my ass. The water was calm and the night clear. I reached into my pocket and pulled out my broken swiss army knife. I set it in my lap and smoothed the sand around me with my hands. I picked up the knife again and unfolded the longest blade. I drew a small spiral then two more connecting them. The purr of a car came from behind me. I snapped my knife closed and shoved it in my pocket. Light surrounded me, and shone out to the water. I sighed, maybe I was going to die. The door to the car opened and I didn't hear it close. I pulled my knees up and layed my face on them. A hand was placed on my back and the sand next to me shifted. They must have sat down. Thank god they didn't sit on my spirals.

"Nyx," A soft voice murmured. "I am sorry." I shook my head. Then they surprised me.
"When you try your best, but you don't succeed
When you get what you want, but not what you need
When you feel so tired, but you can't sleep
Stuck in reverse..." He had started singing. I sobbed softly.
"And the tears come streaming down your face
When you lose something you can't replace
When you love someone, but it goes to waste
Could it be worse?
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
And high up above or down below
When you're too in love to let it go
But if you never try you'll never know
Just what you're worth
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you
Tears stream down your face
When you lose something you cannot replace
Tears stream down your face
And I...
Tears stream down your face
I promise you I will learn from my mistakes
Tears stream down your face
And I...
Lights will guide you home
And ignite your bones
And I will try to fix you." He had pulled me into his lap.

"Tate I am sorry too. How did you find me?"

"I went over to your house, to apologize, then I saw you leave, and I kinda followed you. I lost you on the bridge and thats why I only just caught up."

"Can you take me home? I am pretty sure my motorcycle is dead now."

"Yeah we can put it on the trailer."

Notes

Yes, I know that the Energica Superbike can only go 93.2 miles on one charge, and the distance from Coronado to Los Angeles is 126 miles even. LEAVE ME ALONE!!! Also, everything is accurate on this, so look it up if you'd like.

Also, what the fuck Tate? Why did you follow her? Weirdo....
