The Water In My Lungs

Your Hardest

He opened up his laptop wanting to listen to her newest single. He had heard it was a ballad and was excited to hear it. The divorce papers sat on his desk, filled out by both him and his wife.

They had a big red final stamp on the top of them. He was a single man and he needed his love back in his arms.

He clicked on the new video by Real Horror Show and the first thing that showed was her: sitting at a piano, blonde and brown hair the same as always, and snow falling around her. The song was called Miserable At Best. The first thing that he caught sight of was the metallic dog tags around her neck. His name gleamed in the moonlight. A tattoo of a crow covered up where 'Chris' used to be. He felt his heart leap in his chest. A crow? His favorite animal..

Andy, don't cry. I know,

Your trying your hardest and the hardest part is letting go of the nights we shared.

Ocala is calling, and you know it's haunting but compared to your eyes nothing shines quite as bright.

And when we look to the sky it's not mine but I want it so.

Let's not pretend that your alone tonight, I know she's there and,

Your probably hanging out and making eyes. While across the room she stares.

I bet she gets the nerve to walk the floor and ask my guy to dance, he'll say yes.

Because these words were never easier for me to say or him to second guess, but I guess,

That I can live without you but, without you I'll be Miserable At Best.

Your are all that I'd hoped I'd find, in every single way.

And everything I could give, was everything you couldn't take.

Cause nothing feels like home, your a thousand miles away. And the hardest part of living is just
taking breaths to stay.

Cause I know I'm good for something I just haven't found it yet and I need it.

So, let's not pretend like your alone tonight. I know she's there and,

Your probably hanging out and making eyes, while across the room she stares.

I'll bet she gets the nerve to walk the floor and ask my guy to dance, he'll say yes.

Because these word were never easier for me to say or him to second guess but I get,

That I can live without you but,

Without you I'll be miserable at best.

And this will be the first time in a week that I'll talk to you and I can't speak. It's been three whole days since I've had sleep cause I dream of her lips on your cheek. I got the point that I should leave you alone but we both know that I'm not that strong and,

I miss the lips that made me fly.

So let's not pretend like your alone tonight, I know she's there and,

Your probably hanging out and making eyes. While across the room she stares.

I'll bet she gets the nerve to walk the floor and ask my guy to dance. He'll say yes.

Because these words were never easier for me to say or him to second guess. But I guess that,

I can live without you but, without you I'll be miserable,

And I can live without you but, without you I'll be miserable,

And I can live without you but,

Oh without you I'll be miserable at best.

Tears streamed down his porcelain cheeks and dripped onto the keyboard in front of him. He wanted to scream out and say he was alone. That he needed her by his side. She and her boyfriend broke up and now all that was left was reconnecting. And he was about to do that.
He stood up and walked into the kitchen. He grabbed the phone off the hook and dialed the number he was trying to restrain from dialing for two years.

"Andy?" He heard from the other line and breathed out a sigh of relief.

"Imogen."

Imogen walked by Andy as he used his crutches to push himself down the hallway. He couldn't ride his bike, so she asked her maid Holly to pick them up. She pleaded for Andy to spend the night and he agreed, knowing he needed a night with her.

They saw Holly waiting in a car outside of the hospital. She smiled at them and Imogen opened the door to the back seat.

"Here, let me help you." Imogen said, softly, taking the crutches from him and helping him in the car. Andy felt like a burden on her and sighed heavily. She joined him in the back seat, and buried into his side. It hurt a little but he'd be damned if he wasn't going to hold his girlfriend. "This is
Holly." Imogen said.

"I'm Andy." He nodded.

"Hi!" Holly exclaimed. "You two are very cute together."

Andy chuckled, "Thanks."

"I'm sorry about everything. Where were you again?" Holly asked.

"I w-was in uhm an alley downtown." Andy muttered, looking at Imogen with wide eyes.

"Oh what were you doing there?" She raised an eyebrow.

"I was just out around town. I needed a cigarette and some guys came up to me. They tried to jump me and I didn't really have any money on me so.." Andy said.

"That's terrible, I can't believe that happened." Holly shook her head, "I'm sure Mr. and Mrs. Bradley won't mind you staying over. You need all the comfort you can get in a time like this. Especially from a lover."

"Uh.. We haven't really said that yet, Holly.." Imogen blushed. Andy kissed behind her ear and buried his face in her neck.

The car sped down the road and after about fifteen minutes they pulled in front of Imogen's house.

Andy sighed nervously as she opened the door to the car. She grabbed his crutches and handed them to him. Then helped him out of the car.

"Thanks babe." He said kissing her cheek. He looked up at the window and noticed Brooke and Annie standing at it. He wondered what Imogen had told them. Brooke had a sly smile on her face and Imogen narrowed her eyes.

"Oh boy." She said wrapping her arm around his waist.

"Don't worry, honey." He said. They walked inside of the house, Holly following. Her parents were in the living room and Imogen rolled her eyes.

"Hello." Her father, Sawyer said.

"Hi." Andy said clearing his throat.

"I'm Sawyer Bradley, I see you're dating my daughter." He chuckled.

"Yeah." Andy bit his lip ring.

"Well I didn't expect that, but whatever." He laughed and looked at his wife. He couldn't believe the boy was dating Imogen.

Andy's mouth parted open and he tried to swallow his anger but he was mad now. Imogen saw this.

"Come on." Imogen said leading him toward the stairs. Helping him up was a challenge but they got there eventually.

Of course, Brooke and Annie were waiting at the top. Andy groaned.

"Hey Andy." Brooke said padding over to him. She let her hand drift to his shoulder and Andy jerked back.

"Hi." He said, rolling his eyes. He looked at Imogen and he saw how uncomfortable she looked.

"We were just going back to my room." Imogen said, staring at Brooke.

"Nonsense, come hang out." She grinned at Andy.

"Uhm no thank you." He said following behind his girlfriend. They walked back to her room and Imogen fell on her bed.

"I. Hate. Her." She growled. Andy sighed, set his crutches down, and limped to her bed. He laid down with her and let his arm rest around her back. She didn't look up at him.

"Baby..." He whispered in her ear. She still didn't look at him, so he poked her side. She squirmed but kept her face in the pillow. "Imogen....." He said bringing both his hands to her sides and tickling. She squealed.

"Stop!" She laughed and he pulled her to him. He continued to tickle her and she started doing the same to him. They both were rolling around and laughing.

Eventually they stopped and just laid in each other's arms.

"Don't worry so much, babe. I like you." Andy whispered, huskily in her ear. "If I didn't, I wouldn't be lying in your bed right now."

Imogen blushed, "Well I guess your right."

"I know I am." Andy said, scooping her up in his arms. He immediately placed his lips on hers. He forced his tongue in her mouth and he heard her gasp. He chuckled against her lips and flipped them over. "If that takes your breath, then your in for a treat."

He trailed kisses from her chin down to her sweet spot. She moaned and dug her nails in his back. That made him growl and he bit at the skin of her neck. Her legs wrapped around his teeny waist and her arms trailed around his neck. He rubbed his lower half against her, creating friction which made her cry out for him.

"Jesus Andy." She gasped. He wanted her, more than anything but he couldn't take her. He knew she wasn't ready and he wasn't either. Not yet.

"If we keep going I won't be able to stop." He said rubbing her thigh.

"I know." She said kissing him one more time before falling back on the bed.

"God you make me crazy." He said planting a sloppy kiss on her cheek. "What am I going to do with you?" He smiled at her and she grinned, letting her head drop on his chest.

"I don't know, babe. Might just have to deal with it." She said quickly kissing behind his ear. He shivered and shook his head.

"I guess shivering is our thing." He chuckled.

"I guess so." She said. He bent down and dragged his nose across her neck.

"So my contract at the farm ends soon." He said brushing his fingers against her stomach.

"Oh?" Imogen said. Her eyes were almost shut and he knew she was about to fall asleep.

"I think I'm going to try to bartend." He said. Her eyes widened.

"Don't you have to be 21?" She asked.

"Yeah but I have a friend, Jake, that's a bartender down town and he said I could have a job if I wanted it." He said.

"That sounds like fun." She yawned.

"It's a job." Andy sighed. He looked back down at her to see her eyes closed and her breath evened. "Imogen?" He poked her and she popped up.

"Yeah!?" She gasped. He laughed.

"You should change into your pajamas." He smiled at her.

"Oh. You're right." She massaged her temples. "I'm just so tired. I haven't slept a wink for two days."

His face fell, "Since I've been in the hospital." She nodded, "You're so sweet for worrying." He kissed her forehead as she stood up. She quickly grabbed her pajamas and ran into the bathroom to change. Andy couldn't help but notice how huge her room was.

Last time he was over it didn't register but this time it was all he could focus on.

She came out faster than any girl he'd ever seen. Probably since she didn't wear makeup. Andy had removed his shoes and his crutches laid on the floor beside them.

Imogen looked so sexy in her over sized tee shirt. He wanted to rip it off of her tiny little body and see what lie beneath but he knew he couldn't. He would someday though. Imogen flicked the light off and jumped into bed with him. She cuddled into his side and he wrapped his arms around her.

"Night Andy." She whispered and immediately fell asleep.

"Night Im, I t-think I love you." Andy admitted but to no one but himself.

Well, himself and Brooke who was outside of the door.

Incredibly excited for more then! I just wasn't sure, because if you wanted to end it there, you totally could have. That would have been a beautiful ending, but I'm so excited for more. (:

@Ellie-phant
Thank you SOOO much! I have a lot more of your interested, but I know you already read a lot of them! Its not over, and won't be for a bit. I'm in the process of writing it still and I have been for a long time so I'm too emotionally attached to stop haha!

So, I just read this entire thing in two days.. First, WOMAN! Tell me when you have new stories! I'm terrible at finding things, and you know how much I enjoy your writing. Two, I just sobbed my eyes out. This was beautiful. I cannot tell if it's over, but I'm so in awe, I can't even handle it. You're amazing. <3
