The Water In My Lungs

Better With You

"He said he loves her! Can you believe that?" Brooke exclaimed, throwing her hands up. She paced in front of Annie wondering how she was going to get this one.

"Well maybe he actually does. He never said it when we were together. I hate to say it Brooke but what if Andy and Imogen are supposed to be together. Maybe they both love each other." Annie shrugged.

"That's not fair!" Brooke seethed, "He's eighteen and she's only fifteen!"

"Age is but a number," Annie chuckled, "And she turns sixteen Friday."

"Still!"

"Look Brooke, all I'm saying is that Andy never acted like he does with her with me. He was honestly an ass, and that's why I broke up with him." Annie said, remembering all of Andy and Annie's times. None of them which were good.

"He was an ass all the time?" Brooke asked. He didn't seem like it with Imogen. He acted like she was the most perfect girl in the world.

"Every single day. He was never nice. I don't know how we lasted a month let alone two." Annie shook her head.

"So you think I shouldn't go for it?" Brooke said, sitting on her bed.

"I think they seem really happy and it's not worth it." Annie said.

"Whatever." Brooke said. But she knew this wasn't over. Andy was going to be hers no matter what. In fact, she was convinced Andy Biersack would be the one she'd marry.

Andy woke up to the sound of Imogen's alarm clock blaring. She groaned beside him and he chuckled.

"I don't want too." She said burrowing farther into his side.

"I'm sorry babe." He said kissing her forehead. "You gotta."

"I know." She sighed, getting out of bed. Andy laid back and looked up at the ceiling. He heard her rummaging through her closet and drawers. Then she walked in the bathroom and turned the shower on. He imagined climbing in with her but he knew it wasn't the time.

He sighed looking at the brace on his hand. His father did this, and cracked his rib. He can't imagine what would have happened if Imogen had been there or something. He was looking forward to going home and talking to Daniel about what actually happened.

Imogen came out fifteen minutes later with her hair piled on her head, a tee shirt, and sweatpants on. She fell on the bed and groaned again. Andy laid his head on her back and she whined.

"Your going to make me want to stay." She said. Andy laughed.

"Don't you already want too?" He asked.

"More than you'll ever know." She said propping her head up on her hand.

"I'll see you later. I can pick you up from school-"

"You can't ride your bike until your better, Andy." She said sternly.

Now it was his turn to groan,"I hate this!"

"I know, me too." She sat up and tangled her fingers in his hair. He felt immediately soothed at her touch. "I really hate that you have to go home today."

Andy shut his eyes tight imagining what waited for him there. "I've got too."

"If you get hurt again I swear to god I'll-"

"There is nothing we can do, Imogen. He'll tell on Daniel." He said, brushing her hair back.

"I know." She sighed and let herself fall into his chest and he held her for a little while, but time went by fast and before she knew it she was climbing on the bus looking at him from the window.
Imogen's school days were long and tiring. She took all AP classes and doubled up on senior classes in hopes she could still graduate early. She didn't tell Andy cause she didn't want to get his hopes up but it looked like it was closer to happening than not.

She had one free period each day and she got all of her homework done in it everyday. It worked out well, especially with her busy dance schedule, and now she had to make time for Andy.
The bus was her only break during the day and sometimes she even studied on it. She always used lunch for studying as well.

Now Imogen closed her eyes, her head leaning back on the seat, music blaring in her ears. She couldn't get the worry out of her mind. Andy was going home and he was going to get hurt. She just knew it.

She sighed when she felt a weight beside her. She looked over to see a skinny guy that she recognized as Clay Bell. He wasn't bad, just another face in the shadows like herself. Not popular and not picked on. A loner. He was her usual bus seat mate.

If she was being honest, he wasn't half bad looking. No where near Andy but their eyes were similar. Big, blue, and doe like. He had brown surfer hair, and pale skin. He used to wear glasses but he got contacts in ninth grade. Imogen had heard that some girls liked him but he seemed pretty unaware of any inkling.

They'd never spoken but they had a mutual pact not to mess with each other. And if someone messed with the other they would stand up. He was-sort of-Imogen's friend. And the only one in her school.

Today though, he looked like he wanted to say something. Imogen took out her earbud as he stared at her.

"I saw you with Andy in town, the other day I mean." He said quietly. Imogen just stared at him.

"Are you dating?"

"Yeah." Imogen nodded.

"I heard about him being jumped. Is he alright?" He asked. Imogen let her eyes drift to the seat in front of her.

"Yeah he is." She said, biting her lip. "How did you know about it?"

"It's in the paper." Clay looked at his lap. Imogen sighed and felt tears push to her eyes. Now the whole town believes the Biersack lie. No one but herself and the family knows what actually happened to her boyfriend and there was no way she could help him.

"Oh." Was all she could say.

"I'm sorry. That must have sucked." He said offering her a weak smile.

"It wasn't fun." She muttered, slipping her headphone back in. He seemed to have got the hint and leaned back into the seat.

The bus stopped in front of the school and everyone piled out of it. Imogen slower than everyone else. She was fed up with her life and everyone in it but Andy. She just wanted to be with him again.

Daniel picked Andy up shortly after Imogen left. He rode in the passengers side of the car, Daniel kept sneaking looks at him and the brace around his abs and the ones around his hand and ankle.

"So what actually happened?" Andy asked after about five minutes.

Daniel set his jaw, "I came home to see dad and his friends had beat the shit out of you. I didn't even think you were alive, man. You looked so bad. Anyways, they had tied you to a chair and locked mom in her room. She was going insane, so I untied you and took you to the hospital, made up a lie, called Imogen, and left to help mom. She paid for your bills, dude. She really likes you."

Andy's heart soared thinking of Imogen, he closed his eyes, "I love her, Daniel."

"I never thought I'd hear you say that." He smirked. Andy laughed.

"Me neither." He said. "Mom okay, now?"

"She's alright. Bent up about you. Dad left for a few days but he'll be back, like always." Daniel sighed.

"Like always." Andy agreed. He looked over at his brother and felt a little anger towards him. If he hadn't hit that man, they wouldn't be in this mess.

"Keep Imogen away." Daniel said, sternly.

"You don't need to worry about that." Andy shook his head.

"Yes I do. I see how happy she makes you and how much you care for her. If you bring her to the trailer something will happen." Daniel said.

"Okay." Andy said, simply. They pulled into the trailer park and parked in front of their own. A little blue car parked in front of it. "You said he was gone."

"I thought he was." Daniel said, looking frightened. Andy exhaled and hopped out of the car, feeling pain on his ankle. He grabbed his crutches and pushed himself to the front door. He walked in and braced himself for what was to come.

His dad was sitting on the couch, a beer in his hand. In his other hand, he saw a gun. He immediately tensed. Daniel came in behind him and Andy flicked his eyes towards the lethal weapon.

"Both of you go to your room and don't come out unless I say so." He said, taking a swig of beer.

The boys went back there fast, stopping to make sure their mom was alright.

Andy laid down on the bed and propped his foot up. He stared at the ceiling.

"Daniel?" He whispered. His brother looked over at him, "What's he going to do?"

"I don't know." Daniel said shutting his eyes tightly.

"We should get out of here." Andy sat up.

"We can't leave mom." Daniel shook his head, "And he'll tell."

"Imogen will never forgive me if I get hurt again." Andy said.

"Do you think he's going to shoot us all?" Daniel asked. Andy cringed.

"I don't know." He shook his head. He grabbed his phone out of his pocket and texted Imogen to call him.

"What are you doing?" Daniel said.

"Calling Imogen."

"Are you going to tell her what's going on?" He asked. Andy nodded.

"I'm also going to say goodbye."

@Ellie-phant
Thank you SOOO much! I have a lot more of your interested, but I know you already read a lot of them! Its not over, and won't be for a bit. I'm in the process of writing it still and I have been for a long time so I'm too emotionally attached to stop haha!

So, I just read this entire thing in two days.. First, WOMAN! Tell me when you have new stories! I'm terrible at finding things, and you know how much I enjoy your writing. Two, I just sobbed my eyes out. This was beautiful. I cannot tell if it's over, but I'm so in awe, I can't even handle it. You're amazing. <3
