The Water In My Lungs

Monolith

Today was the day her new music video premiered. He sat down at his computer and clicked on the song.

It's Not You, by Real Horror Show. Behind him he could hear his basically ex-wife flitting around the kitchen. They weren't on speaking terms right now, not even close. But when were they ever? She never loved him, she just wanted everything her sister had..

The video loaded and the first thing to pop up was an old 50's font that glitched purpose. It said Real Horror Show and then flickered to the words It's Not You. Then, there she was laying on a black chaise, in a tight black corset, and black tights. Tattoos littered her arms and one stuck out to me. One single word, Chris.

I'm in love with somebody, found someone who completes me.

I'm in love with somebody, oh yeah, and it's not you.

Read my finger whatcha gonna do?

See these lips are all done talking to you. I don't mean to bruise you ego.

But I've had you nailed down for so long, I don't see your name on my tattoo.

Hope you understand, It's been a long time coming.

It's for the best.

No offense.

I'm in love with somebody, found someone who completes me.

I'm in love with somebody, oh yeah, and It's not you.

I know who you think you are, sorry I've turned you on but I'm kissing you off.

Your lines of whiskey and cigarettes, they're not enough to make me forget.

I've got someone who has raised the bar.

I've heard it all before, stop spinning your wheels, I'll show you the door,

No hard feelings.

I'm in love with somebody, found someone who completes me.

I'm in love with somebody, oh yeah, and it's not you.

You've probably never been shot down before, (you've probably never been shot down before.)

I'll try and make it easier.

I'm in love with somebody, found someone who completes me.

I'm in love with somebody, oh yeah, and it's not you.

It's not you.

It's not you, oh yeah.

He slammed the laptop shut, furiously. He turned around to look at the bitch he married instead of her. Her long blonde hair still as bright as it was a year ago. He rolled his eyes.

What the fuck was wrong with him?

Andy and Imogen had hung out all day long. First, she bought her CD, and then they went to the book store where she bought a new book on the Civil War. Andy was entranced, he had never laughed so hard at someone in all his life. They were both dreading the end of the day.

"Do you maybe want to grab some lunch or something?" Andy asked. Imogen was taken by shock, five hours ago she would have never imagined she was riding around town on the back of Andrew Biersacks motorcycle.

She looked down at her watch and raised her eyebrow, "It's five."

"Well then dinner." He chuckled.

"Yeah I'd like that." Imogen blushed. They walked over to where Andy's motorcycle was parked near the book store. He slid on and she followed, wrapping her arms around his waist. Her hands brushed against his bare skin and he shivered again. "Damn your cold."

Andy smirked, "It's December, and we're on a motorcycle."

"I don't know this leather jacket looks toasty warm." Imogen said.

"It's not the jacket that's making me warm." Andy muttered under his breath, but Imogen heard. She smiled to herself biting the inside of her cheek. "Where do you want to go to dinner?"

"I don't care." She shrugged.

"How about Bensons?" Andy asked. Bensons was a small cafe not to far from where the pair was.

"Sounds good." She smiled, laying her head on Andy's back. He sped down the street, noticing the stares from some of the other teenagers out today. Obviously they were all dumbfounded as to why Imogen Bradley was riding around with himself. Or were they? He did have a reputation with women after all..

He didn't want any of them to think that's why he had interest in her, he especially didn't want Imogen thinking that.

He parked his bike in the parking lot of the cafe. They slid off and walked by each other in silence. Andy's blue eyes scanned her and finally she looked up to meet his gaze.

He saw so much wisdom in her beautiful eyes, they were just as blue as his own. She blushed and looked away, causing Andy to grin. He opened the door for her and they sat in a small booth by the window. A waitress immediately came up to them and Andy cursed under his breath.

It was Annie Peterson.

His sort of ex girlfriend. Andy didn't really do girlfriends but she was his longest. About two months.

As soon as Annie saw Imogen she rolled her eyes. "Hi can I start you off with some drinks?" She said glaring at Andy.

"I'll have water." Andy said, returning her glare. Imogen felt immediately uncomfortable.

"Me too." She mumbled biting her lip.

"Whatever." Annie walked away, muttering something about Andy under her breath. Imogen raised her eyebrows and looked at Andy. He was looking at her, a look of worry on his face.

"My Ex."

"I figured."

"I didn't know she worked here, I'm sorry." He said.

"It's not my buisness, but it seems like it ended nastily." Imogen said chewing on the inside of her cheek.

"She was my longest relationship." He sighed.

"How long?"

"Two months." If Imogen had been drinking something she would have spit it out. Two months? That was his longest relationship?

Even Imogen had had a longer relationship. With one of her ballet guy friends, Calum. It lasted one year to be exact.

"Oh." She nodded, shutting her lips.

"Yeah, Imogen, I'm not the best guy." He folded his hands on the table and looked down at them, "I don't know why I'm even here right now. I'll probably just..." He shook his head, Imogen hanging on his every word, "Fuck this up too."

Imogen stared at him, "What is...this?"

He was silent for a moment and stared at her. "A friendship, if you want that, and maybe it could grow to something more."

Imogen's heart pounded against her chest so hard she was sure Andy could see it. "I-I-I uhm.. I-I"
Andy laughed and took her hand across the table, she shivered.

"Now your the cold one." He smiled.

"I-I guess I am." She said, breathlessly. Annie came back and sat the waters on the table, eyeing Andy and Imogen's locked hands. She was certain to tell Brooke about this tonight.
Her best friend's annoying, shy sister with the town bad boy? Her ex-boyfriend? Not even...

"You two ready to order?" She asked.

"Uhm not really." Andy said, pulling out the menus and handing one to Imogen.

"Take your time." Annie said, walking away. They scanned the menus quickly and Imogen settled on a salad. Andy looked ready too and Annie had walked back. "What'll it be."

"I'll have the spinach apple salad." Imogen said handing her the menu. Annie rolled her eyes, always the dancer.

"Okay," She blew out an irritated sigh, "Andy?"

"I'll have a burger and fries." He said, giving her the menu. Annie looked at Imogen to see if she was disgusted her being a vegatarian as Brooke said. Nothing. Just an unchanged face of admiration.

"Alright." She said, writing it down and walking away.

"So you didn't really have anything to say about my little confession." Andy said, quirking his eyebrow, and playing with their entwined fingers.

"We just met today." Imogen said looking at their hands.

"I know. I'm not saying now, I just think your really cool." He smiled at her.

She smirked softly, "Thanks. I think your really cool too."

"I'd like to do this again sometime." He said.

"As friends though, right?" She asked.

"Of course." He said, tracing her knuckles, but in the back of his mind he knew this was going to amount to much more than a friendship.

Incredibly excited for more then! I just wasn't sure, because if you wanted to end it there, you totally could have. That would have been a beautiful ending, but I'm so excited for more. (:

@Ellie-phant
Thank you SOOO much! I have a lot more of your interested, but I know you already read a lot of them! Its not over, and won't be for a bit. I'm in the process of writing it still and I have been for a long time so I'm too emotionally attached to stop haha!

So, I just read this entire thing in two days.. First, WOMAN! Tell me when you have new stories! I'm terrible at finding things, and you know how much I enjoy your writing. Two, I just sobbed my eyes out. This was beautiful. I cannot tell if it's over, but I'm so in awe, I can't even handle it. You're amazing. <3
