New Horizons

Normality

“Are we there yet?” I asked and when Andy didn’t answer I asked again. “Are we there yet?”

“Seriously Riley?” Andy said not answering my question.

“Are we even in Ohio yet?” I asked changing my question.

“Does it look like we’re in Ohio?” He answered with another question…I hated when people did that.

I looked around and didn’t see anything but corn fields. “How the fuck would I know? I’m from California not fuckin Ohio.”

“How about the fact that we passed a sign that told us 30 miles until Indianapolis like ten minutes ago?” He answered sarcastically.

“Like I’m paying attention to the road signs. That’s your job.” I crossed my arms over my chest and looked out the window.

Want to torture someone? Put them in a car with someone for hours on end. In the middle of frickin nowhere with just corn everywhere. I would give anything just to see a damn cow at least.

I picked up Andy’s phone and started skipping through the songs.

“Will you stop it?” Andy took his phone out of my hands and put on some KISS song. “There’s this magical thing where you can look at the music before you play it. It’s called a song list.”

“I have to go to the bathroom.” I stated.

“And where do you suggest I stop? The next ear of corn?”

“I was just making the statement so that you would know so you could stop in the next town.” I answered.

“Didn’t you just go like an hour ago?”

“I also drank a whole can of frickin Amp.” I retorted.

Andy shook his head and started laughing.

“What the hell are you laughing at?” I asked slightly annoyed.

“I’m a rock star and here I am bickering with my girlfriend about going to the fuckin bathroom and whether we are at our destination yet. It’s so normal it’s funny.” He explained.

“You’re laughing at the normality of the moment?” I asked lookin at him like he was crazy.

“Yeah considering less than a week ago we were singing to thousands of people.” He answered.

“Oh…okay rock star.” I replied with a smirk.

We were outside his parent’s house and I was nervous as all hell. Andy pulled our bags out of the trunk as I looked at the house as if it was going to eat me or something.

“Are you going to carry your bags or are you expecting me to carry them?” Andy asked snapping my attention away from the house.

“I can’t do this.” I said in a high pitched voice.

“Can’t carry your bags?” He asked me looking confused.

“I can’t go in there?” I answered.

“You spent like a full two weeks with my mom before. I don’t understand what the problem is.” Andy replied.

“I’ve never met your dad and now I’m in their territory. Before it was just neutral territory being at the hotel. Besides it was for a high stress situation.” I rambled on.

“Is this an Anthropology thing or something because I’m still not getting what the problem is.” Andy said looking confused again.

Before I could say anything the front door opened up.

“They’re ascending upon us.” Andy joked, laughing at my expense.

“Shut up, Andy.” I whispered as his parents headed toward us.

“It’s so good to see you again Riley.” Andy’s mom said when she was in front of us.

I smiled at her, “It’s really nice to see you too.” She pulled me into a hug and I hugged her back.

“So I finally get to meet Riley.” Andy’s dad said when Andy’s mom let go of me.

“Dad, this is Riley.” Andy said introducing me. “Riley, this is my dad.”

“It’s nice to finally meet you.” I said as confidently as I could.

“You look too smart to be dating my son.” He said with a smile.

After Andy and I put our stuff in his old room we went out to eat.

“So Amy tells me that you go to college?” Andy’s Dad said addressing me while we were waiting for our food.

I felt a little more relaxed. I could definitely talk college. “Yeah I go to UCLA.” I answered.

“What’s your major?” His dad asked. “Amy told me but I either wasn’t paying attention or I forgot. You know how guys can be.” He said with a smirk. “When the conversation steers away from sports or sex our mind just wanders.”

I laughed, “I double major in Anthropology and Psychology.”

“Wow, you are a smart girl. How did you get involved with Andy then? Most girls like you wouldn’t give him a second look.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever heard the story either.” Andy’s mom said with a smile.

I looked at Andy and he started to tell the story. “Well I dared Danny to jump out at her and her friend and when he did she punched him.” Andy’s dad and mom started laughing. “Nearly broke his nose…it was awesome. Well she started yelling at us, calling Danny a British idiot and me a wanna be rock star. I think she even called me gay.” He said trying to remember it. “Anyways I kissed her, setting her straight and she was hooked from then on.”

“Right.” I scoffed. “I don’t remember being hooked right away.”

“Well you went to the party that I invited you to. You must have been hooked.” Andy reasoned.

“That’s because Katelyn begged me for hours. I only went to make her happy.” I answered. “I remember still hating your guts when I got to the party.”

“What? So I’ve been living with a lie? You didn’t come to the party for me?” Andy replied.

I laughed, “Nope. I’m sorry to inform you Andrew Biersack that the world does not revolve around you. And not everyone is in love with you.”

“That’s news to me.” He replied looking surprised.

I laughed and he kissed my cheek. I loved how we could just joke with each other.

“So are you going to go on the Europe tour with him?” His mom asked.

“No.” Andy answered looking disappointed.

“I have school.” I answered.

“I told her to quit and she could be my slave. But nope she decided she doesn’t like me that much.” He said placing his arm around my shoulders.

“No.” I answered. “I put so much into college already that I thought it would be dumb to just quit.”

“That’s a smart decision. Most girls would just give that all up for a guy.” Andy’s dad commented.

“I wouldn’t let her do that for me.” Andy answered truthfully. “As much as I joke around with her, I know how important school is for her.”

I smiled. I never realized that Andy knew how important my schooling was.

“So, can we expect grandchildren anytime soon?” Andy’s mom smiled.

I blushed bright red.

“Mom, why did you have to ask?” Andy groaned.

“I like Riley and she’s smart. You guys obviously love each other and I want grandchildren.” She answered.

Thank God, the food came and distracted everyone from that subject.

UPDATE PLZZZZ?!

I need an update!!!!! Please!!!!!

I don't want Andy and Reya to have any more conflicts. Reya needs to step up and tell Andy how she feels about Taylor or Andy needs to man up and tell Taylor to back off. How can anyone be so oblivious to someone throwing themselves at them?
