You're Only Happy When I'm Wasted

Andy

"Are you sure this is the right place Andy? This is a bookstore?" Chris asked me from the driver's seat. I leaned across Jake and peered out the backseat window. The sign on the book shoppe read Ms.Lancaster's Book Emporium.
"Yea, she said she lives on the second floor, there should be a staircase 'round back."
"Alright, I'll circle the joint." Chris put the Jeep back in drive and drove around the side. We found the staircase, and Stella. She was halfway down it, carrying twice her weight in art supplies.
"Hey guys, don't suppose I could borrow you for half a second? I'm about ready to drop this frame." She smiled at us.
"Sure think, cutie." Ashley laid it on thick, and grabbed the frame from her. The frame was empty, but it was still bigger than her.
"You must be Ashley, Chris told me about you. You see that Corvette over there?" She motioned to an older red car in the almost empty parking lot.
"Is she your's? Quite a beauty." One thing I could say about Ashley, he knew a nice car when he saw it.
"Yep, it was my Daddy's in the eighties. You can set that frame in the trunk." She pulled out a key chain, and hit a button. The trunk popped open.
It took a bit of time, but eventually, she got all her art supplies and her backpack in the trunk.
"So, who wants to ride shotgun?" She slammed the trunk shut and looked at us.

"How does Chris even drive this stupid piece of -" Ashley yelled veering in between lanes.
"Ashley, quit complaining and just get us there in one piece!" I yelled back. Chris had to be the one to ride with Stella, but why let Ashley drive the Jeep? It was a bad idea, a very bad idea considering Ashley didn't value any car besides his Bentley. After the first twenty minutes of Ashley swearing about everything, I decided to save my ears. I turned on the radio and heard two sighs from the back seat. I guess I wasn't the only one who was sick of Ashley.

Pulling up to our cabins, we see Stella's car up by Karly's cabin. Great way for them to meet. Just have to hope they can get along. If not... Well, that's not pleasant to think about. Lucky for us, arriving a day earlier meant we had the best cabin and were already unpacked. We decide to play basketball in the common area before tonight's activities. I used to go to summer camp when I was younger, and I'll be the last to admit it but it reminds me of that. And I kinda like it.
"Hey Ashley!" I yell across the court.
"Hey -" He yells back. I get the evilest idea I've had all summer.
"Five bucks Karly kicks your ass in the water brigade!"
"Dude, you are so on!"
From across the court I see Karly before I hear her.
"People aren't allowed to make bets about me If I don't get in on the pay out!"
Funny, I don't remember this much screaming last time...
Then again, last time Karly and Ashley were, well, yea...
Stella
"So, how does your girlfriend feel about this?" Chris asked me, sitting on an empty bunk.
"Don't have one." I replied, and put another pencil in it's bag. Just my luck, I left a zipper open. I just got finished cleaning them out of my trunk.
"Boyfriend?"He asked.
"Don't have one." I put another pencil in it's case.
"Well, if you ever want to change that..." He took my phone off my bunk and put his number in it.
The cabin door opens and a tall girl with raspberry blue hair walks in.
"And that's my cue!" Chris smiles again and jumps off the bunk.
"Stella meet Karly, she is our merch girl. Karly meet Stella, she is our new merch designer. She will also be working on sets, and other things artists do. See you guys at noon!" One last wave of the hand, and Chris disappears behind the cabin door.
"So are you any good?" Karly asks skeptically.
"See for yourself." I hand her my notebook.
She rifles through a few pages, but her face doesn't change.
"Alright your good, what are you working on?" She sets the notebook down and nods at the large canvas pad I have on the floor.
"Oh just a little present for the boys, I'm hoping to have it done by the end of the weekend." The canvas at the moment just has a few scratches on it. Outlines for the words, when it's done that will be a side feature for the real beauty.
"Well, just thought I would introduce myself, I have the bunk in the corner. You have about an hour to work on that, and prep for the games. I got a feeling you'll be on my team." And with that, she too left, and I was alone. Might as well get some of this done. I turned on my spotify playlist, and set off on my project.
