My Romeo's Lullaby

Cora walked out of the changing room and looked at Andy chatting with Emertha. She cleared her throath and they looked at her.
Andy was baffled. "Where are your shoes?" Andy walked over.
Cora shrugged. Emertha walked over and checked if everything was in it's place. "You need to have this over your face." She pulled the cloth over her mouth.
"She looks like a ninja..." Andy muttered.
"Ninja's are quick and silent." Emertha gave her two little swords, not bigger than Andy's lower arm. Andy touched her cheek and looked with concern in her eyes.
"I need to tell you something."
Cora almost drowned in his eyes and nodded. Andy's thumb traced over her lip. "If you win, you won't rule over Forendall." He paused.
Cora wanted to open her mouth, only but looked confused. "When you win, Madness will take over forendall and she will go to war with fear, then if she wins Ashley will take over fear and you will rule with me as my queen at The Wild Ones." Cora started to smile a little and Andy didn't expect that.
"Sound perfect." She kissed him and he snaked his arm around her waist. They were interrupted by a groan and they stopped.
The couple laughed, but Emertha couldn't find the fun in it. "We need to train." She said. Cora looked back up at Andy and he kissed her one last time before walking away.
"I will see you tomorrow."
He waved goodbye. Cora was pulled away by Emertha and was dragged to the middle of the courtyard.
Cora felt the warm ice under her feet. Emertha let go of her and stood infront of her. "What do you know so far?" Cora thought. "Uhm..." Emertha sighed. "Just try to attack me." Cora had a sword in each hand and ran towards Emertha with a yell.

Andy landed with Saphira on the courtyard. Ashley ran to him and bowed.
"Thank you." Ashley said and gave his real brother a bear hug.
"I know how imprtant this is for you."
Ashley walked to the weapon room to the twins and Andy followed him. "The troops are getting stronger and bigger, right now we have 3 thousand wildlings ready for battle." Jake sat on a chair at a round table and sharpened his sword.
"Right, we have to spare our troops and only start the battle with a thousand, then when it's needed Madness' troops will take over and help us when they least expect it." Andy sat down at the table and started to pour some wine.
"What if those troops don't work?" Koda's voice ecoed through the room and she walked in, biting an apple.
Andy looked at her new armor. "They will and nice armor." Koda bowed as a thank you and sat on top of the table.
"Where's princess?" She frowned. "At the mountains, she's training with the north from now on." Koda's mouth dropped open.
"What, why? I was training her?!" She jumped of the table. "It's better for her." He chugged the wine down his throath and looked down.
"Who is he? Who is training her?"
"It's a she." Her anger stopped and she looked confused.
"Oh" Andy laughed. "Nice double standard you have there." Koda rolled her eyes and walked out. "Shut up."
"It's still your grace." He yelled after her. He focused on his glass and thought about Cora. He really hopes she can learn something there.
He was questioning every single thing about the war. He threw the wine glass across the room and walked out. The twins looked at eachother and looked down again. Ashley sighed and walked after Koda.

two weeks later

Burning lungs.
Clinging of the swords.
Cora's hair strains flapped before her eyes.
Her grip tightened around her two swords. Her bare feet sensing the movement on the ground. Emertha came running with her axe in the air.
Cora could predict her movements. Emertha's heels weren't on the ground when she came running, so she plans to jump.
She's right handed so she's going to strike with her right side. The thoughts pierced through Cora's mind fast enough to duck, jump left and when Emertha's feet were on the ground, grab them and pull her down.
Emertha's jaw landed on the ice floor and she groaned, but didn't stop. Cora stood up and slid away from her. Emertha rolled on her feet again and grabbed the swords that Cora dropped. The sweaty princess was now armless.
Cora put her hands up and walked around, never breaking eye contact. Emertha started swinging, but missed every single time.
By the last swing the short sword went 3 inches from Cora's face, she grabbed the metal blade and thanked the gods for the invention of leather gloves.
She gripped the blade and yanked it from Emertha. Emertha fell on on the ground by Cora's heel and the blade was launched in the air.
Cora stood infront of her, chatched the sword and pointed it to Emertha's neck.
Emertha smiled and laughed.
Cora stuck out her arm and helped her up.
Suddenly she heard a slow clap in the distance. She pulled down her mouth cap and ran towards her future husband.
Andy was so proud.
Cora jumped in his arms and smiled. "Are you ready for today?" He asked and she nodded. "Tomorrow is the start of something big." She sighed and het set her down.
Her smile dissapeared, today was the day that the world is going to change no matter what.
Emertha walked over with a rag and wiped her sweaty neck.
"Morning, your grace." She smiled.
"Emertha, I want you to meet someone." Andy stepped out of her view and koda stepped fowards.
"Hi, I'm koda." She said a little too shy for koda.
Emertha blushed and shook her hand. Andy smiled and winked at Koda. Koda thanked Andy with her eyes and started talking with Emertha. Andy pulled Cora away and they walked together to Madness.

"Are you ready?" Madness grabbed Cora's shoulders.
Cora nodded and blew air out of her mouth of nervousness. The crowd was to hear in the changing room.
Cora forgot how the summer climate of Forendall felt. It was almost as if she never left. Andy strapped her shoulder straps a little tighter.
"Remember, it's like riverdancing." He whispered.
Cora looked forward. This was it. It was kill or get killed. Worst thing was it was her own blood. The man who created her and the man who lied.
Cora tought about all the lies he told, then she thought about her mother. Mora appeared in the corner and mouths dropped open.
Madness smiled. "I knew you couldn't stay away." She laughed. "Cora sweety, I'm so sorry I've been away for so long." Mora ran towards her and embraced her tight.
"It's going to be okay." She whispered. The council stood outside of the room and koda was holding hands with Emertha. The door opened and they watched in silence as the champion walked out. "I'm ready." Cora said with fury in her eyes.
