Far And Away.

One Hell Of A Fight

"Oh really, Flora?" Donna was exasperated. Her daughter came out of her bedroom, a few minutes before the guests came over in sweatpants, and one of her many band tee shirts. In this case it was an Escape The Fate one.

"What?" Flora asked, a smug smirk on her face.

"You couldn't at least put a pair of jeans on?" Donna said crossing her arms over her chest. Flora took in her mothers appearance. She was clad in a light blue sweater, and khaki pants, with her tall brown riding boots.

"Do I have too?" Flora groaned.

"Yes." Donna couldn't help but smile. Her daughter sure was putting up one hell of a fight.

"Fine." Flora stormed off into her room. The walls were covered in band posters, her mother's art and white paint. She walked over to her iPod, and started blaring Deathbeds by Alkaline Trio. A pair of blue jeans were lying on her floor, and she quickly slid them on.

"Flora, turn the damn music off! They're here!" Donna shouted, over the roaring sound of Matt Skiba's voice. Flora ignored the plea, and laid down on her bed. She was dreading this. What if he made fun of her? It's not like it hasn't happened before..

"Flora get out here!" Donna yelled, and her daughter groaned, turning off her music. She walked through the door, to see a small family.

The mother had shoulder length, dirty blonde hair, tan skin, and sparkling green eyes. The father had the same tan skin, blue eyes, and thinning hair. The son had long black hair that stuck up in odd angles in the back. His plush lips were pierced, along with his nose, and his skin was glowing it was so pale. Flora could barely look into his eyes considering they were so blue she felt like she could look into them for hours.

"Flora, these are the Biersacks. Amy, Chris, and their son Andy." Donna said, walking to her daughter's side.

"Sup." Flora nodded her head.

"Flora!" Her mother exclaimed.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like an uninterested teenager, I meant to say, hello Mr. and Mrs. Biersack, and their son Andy." Flora said, sarcastically, bowing. Andy chuckled a bit.

"I'm so sorry, I will definitely have a chat with her about this later. Would you like to sit down?" Donna shot her daughter a glare.

"It's quite alright, Andy's the same way. And yes thank you." Amy said, smiling. They all walked over to the kitchen table where Donna had laid out dinner. Flora sat back in her chair, and ate quietly while everyone talked around her. Andy never stopped staring at her.

"Looking at something?" Flora cocked her head to the side. Andy held his hands up.

"Guess not." He chuckled.

"Hell yeah, you guess not." She muttered.

"Florence Elizabeth Walsh." Donna exclaimed.

"May I be excused?" Flora said, throwing her fork on her plate.

"Please." Donna said, and Flora stood up, shoving her chair in. She placed her plate in the sink, and walked into her room.

Scrolling through her iPod she found her favorite song Therapy by All Time Low. She settled onto her bed, and stared at the ceiling. Maybe she was too mean? She didn't even know the poor family...

Just as she decided to get up, and apologize, there was a knock on her door. Flora hopped up, and answered it to see Andy standing there.

"Uh hey." She said awkwardly.

"They're having some parental conversation, I was wondering if I could come hang out with you?" He asked.

"Sure." She said, stepping aside so he could walk in. She followed, and sat beside him on her bed. He looked at her iPod which had just switched to the song Too Much by All Time Low.

"All Time Low?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah. One of my favorite bands. You like them?" She asked.

"Not really. I'm more into older bands, Alkaline Trio, Kiss, Motley Crüe, AFI, Rancid et cetera." Andy nodded.

"Oh." She mused, "I like those bands too."

"Cool." He nodded.

"So why did you move here?" Flora asked.

"Parents had a job relocation." He shrugged, "I didn't like my last school, so I wasn't too pissed."

"Sounds awful." She said, laying back on her bed.

"It was. How about you? Why are you so pissed off at the world?" Andy raised an eyebrow.

"You don't know anything about me." Flora scoffed.

"I know that you just came out of your room looking like you hate everything, and then stormed off." He shrugged.

"Don't act like you know me."

"I can read people pretty damn well."

"So read me." Flora crossed her arms.

"Your a little timid, but only around people who think they know you. Around strangers your clearly not afraid to be who you are, but something tells me at school you don't say two words?" He looked smugly at her.

"Get the Hell out of my room." Flora seethed.

"Well I guess I was on point." He chuckled.

"Fuck off." Flora raised her middle finger at him. He held his hands up.

"Pardon me." He shook his head, "Sorry to mess up your day, little miss perfect."

"Seriously? You don't know anything about me!" Flora glared at him.

"Whatever." Andy walked out of the room, and Flora groaned. She laid down her bed, and crossed her arms over her chest.

She knew one thing for sure, she was not looking forward to school the next day.

Notes

Comments

I hate the fact that Flora let her dad get in her head. Had it not been for him, I'm sure she would be going to California with the band right now. Ohio State really isn't a big deal as far as schools go, and the school in California is just as prestigious (if not more so). Even from a more logical and practical standpoint, it does not seem like Flora is making a good choice.
