Fallen Angels

After Alese got Gimli saddled up and ready, she grabbed some boots from the tack room and put them on then mounted. After she got settled in the saddle she took a foot out of the stirrup and instructed Andy how to mount. With his long legs, he had no trouble mounting. He got set up behind the saddle and they set off.

He wasn’t sure where they were headed, but he was just happy to be with Alese. She had put her hair up so it wouldn’t hit him in the face while they rode. They set off on a trail behind her grandparent’s ranch. It was a well used trail and both Alese and Gimli seemed to know the way by heart.

After making it through the trees, Alese looked back to him, “You might want to hold on to me for this part.” Before Andy could ask what she meant, she said something to Gimli and they shot off like a bullet, almost leaving Andy in the dust. He grabbed on around her waist and held on for dear life. Alese just laughed and laughed, both enjoying his shock, and the thrill of the ride.

After Gimli was sweaty and panting, Alese slowed down and looked back at him, “We are about 5 miles from the ranch, I found this place after mine and Gimli’s first ride. I just wanted to get lost, and we did. We stumbled across this place. I have never brought anyone here before, not even my parents know of it.”

Andy looked and they were in a clearing surrounded by trees, in the middle of it all was a lake. The water was crystal clear and you could see the fish swimming around. The ground was covered in all different color flowers. It was beautiful.

They dismounted and she unsaddled Gimli and he went straight to the water. She walked over to the trunk of a tree and pulled out a blanket.

“Sometimes Gimli and I camp out here so I keep supplies here for when I feel like it. This is my safe haven.” She gave Andy a shy smile.
“This place is beautiful, way better than my bush at the park.”

They both laughed and set the blanket out. They watched Gimli play in the water for a while and Andy started to doze off. When he woke up, Alese was nowhere to be seen. He looked around but couldn’t see her. He saw Gimli and everything was still there, but no Alese.

He heard giggling and looked up in the direction of the noise. There she was, perched on a tree branch with a note pad and pencils in hand.

“What are you doing up there?”
“Wouldn’t you like to know? If you want to know, you have to come find out yourself!”

Andy smirked. Challenge accepted. He headed to the tree to scale it. How hard could it be to climb a tree? His first few attempts failed, resulting in broken twigs and more laughs from above. He was determined to climb this tree if it was the last thing he ever did!
Finally finding good hand holds, he made his way up to the giggling Alese. He was scratched, sweaty, tired, and panting, but he had made it!

“Okay, a deals a deal, but you have to promise not to laugh.” Alese said as she handed him the pad.
“Why would I laugh?” He took the pad and gasped. It was a picture of him sleeping. It was so accurate it was like a black and white photo.
“You did this?” he asked in amazement.
“I know it’s not all that great; it’s just a sketch really. But you looked so peaceful and it made for a great subject. I’m sorry I shouldn’t have done it without permission.”
“Alese, this is great! It’s magnificent! You don’t have anything to be sorry for! I love you.”
“Really you mean that? I don’t really like it, I feel I could have done better.”
“I don’t see how it could get better, it’s perfect. I didn’t know you could draw.”
“Well it’s just something I started doing, last night. I just felt an urge to do it, so I did.”

Last night? When he combined with his soul. Her angelic powers were beginning to surface then, but how? They hadn’t bonded yet. This was abnormal. But he couldn’t give it much thought because Alese started talking again.

“It’s getting kind of late. We should head back.”

They got out of the tree and headed to pack stuff up and re-tack Gimli. They rode back in a comfortable silence. Once they got back to the ranch the put everything up and headed in the direction of her house.

“Hey Andy?”
“Hmm?”
“Thanks for today, for everything. For listening and coming with me, I really didn’t want to be alone.”
“Of course Alese, I didn’t think you should be alone and I had a great time.”

She smiled shyly at him and then took him by surprise, she grabbed his hand. They walked in silence for the rest of the way. Once they got to her house she asked for his phone and put her number in.

“Text me.” Was all she said as she handed him his phone and gave him a quick peck on the cheek before running inside.

He felt warmth spread through his whole body.

She kissed him!
