Fallen Angels

The new humans fit in and went to telling their stories on how they ended up in the sanctuary. Jinxx and the ones he recruited were working double time to get the infirmary up. Vic was passed out but still alive and Orion had not left his side. Jesse and Ashley had done a great job of setting up shifts for the guards to patrol and so far there had been no further attacks. Jack and Alex were off doing weapons check and running through some training exercises with any who showed up. Jake was showing Ellie around the camp and introducing her to people. CC and Carla were in Mike’s house watching over the sick and wounded.

Alese and I had checked on everyone else and they were doing fine. We left our final stop to be Mike’s. Alese wanted to check on Maya to make sure she was okay after what had happened that afternoon. We knocked on the door and CC answered.

“Hey guys, it’s a little crowded but come in.”

We walked in and there were three humans in the little living room two were lying on blankets on the floor and the other was on the couch.

“They all have fevers but Carla thinks it’s from over exertion and dehydration. We have been giving them a cup of water every 30 minutes and making them sleep it off. She says that’s what’s best for them. As for the leader, I didn’t catch her name, she still hasn’t woken up but Carla is working on patching up some pretty bad wounds she had hoping rest will heal her.” He said informed us as we walked into Mike’s room where Carla was rubbing some stuff on Maya’s wounds.

“Many of these are old, but they are infected. She must have gotten these from the journey here. They must have had some brutal battles. I’m surprised they made it this far.” Carla said while dressing the places she just rubbed the paste.

“Will she be okay?” Alese asked sitting down next to the unconscious girl and holding her hand.
“She should be. There aren’t any life threatening wounds. She’s exhausted and dehydrated. I can only imagine what they went through to get here.”
“Have you seen Mike? I mean were using his house and I was going to tell him but no one can find him.” I said, directing the question to Carla and CC.

Carla shook her head and CC said, “No I even sent a guard to look for him to let him know. He has a bad habit of just vanishing.”

I nodded in agreement; he did do this quite a bit. I went to turn to leave the room and I ran right into a person. I hadn’t even heard anyone come into the room.

“Uh, excuse me.” I said realizing who I ran into.
“It’s not nice to talk about people when they aren’t around you know. All you had to do was look in the right place.” Mike said with a grin.
“You know you have really bad timing dude? I have been looking for you since the Vic incident. Where were you at?”
“A little here, a little there. I mean my house has been turned into an infirmary so where was I supposed to go?”
“You could have been helping with the building of the new infirmary. Something productive you know?”
“Well then I guess you don’t want to know what I found out during my unproductive adventure?” he asked still grinning.

“Let’s hear it.”
“Well our guards only patrol about a mile outside of the perimeter.” I nodded. “About four miles out there is a camp of demons and imps. It’s not very big about 100 in all but they are being led by a fallen angel whose wings have been ripped off and he has the tattoo. They didn’t seem to be moving any close, but they are there. I think they are waiting on something or someone.”
I thought about what he had said. What could they be waiting on? I looked to Alese and she just shrugged, then she didn’t know either. I was about to suggest we go check it out when there was a moan from the bed.

All eyes turned on Maya as she rubbed her head. As soon as her eyes opened they were glued to Mike. Same went for him. They were both locked on each other until Carla broke the silence.

“Hi I’m Carla and that is my soul mate CC and that’s Mike.”
“Hi my name is Maya. If you don’t mind me asking how is everyone I came with doing? Are they being fed? Are they okay?”

“Calm down, everyone is fine. We have three of them who have fevers here with us in the other room. The others are resting and eating. They are comfortable and well taken care of. You are the worst off. You have a lot of open wounds that got infected so I cleansed them and wrapped them up. You won’t be in fighting shape anytime soon, but you will heal quickly if you just rest.” Carla said handing her a bottle of water.

Maya took it gladly and drank it all in nearly a swig. “I’m sorry. We haven’t had a full meal in at least a week and water was hard to come by so we drank it sparingly. I honestly never thought we would reach this place. We lost so many to attacks and the rest to dehydration.”

“Well you are here and safe now. All you need to focus on is resting and healing. We have an infirmary being built so you will be transferred there soon. You don’t have to worry about anything.” Alese said stroking her hand.

“No she can stay here.” Mike said staring right at her. He had eyes for no one but her. She didn’t blush or even flinch under his gaze. She struggled to sit up and glared at him.
“Isn’t that up to me?”
He shrugged, “Guess so, but you would be more comfortable here. I could watch over you and wait on you hand and foot your highness.” He gave her a mock bow. She gestured for him to come closer and when he did she punched his arm. He pretended to be hurt by the gesture but everyone could see the smile behind his eyes.

Carla, CC, Alese, and I could see we weren’t wanted and we snuck out quietly. When we got to the living room Jinxx told us the building was ready. We transported the three humans there quickly so Mike and Maya could have the alone time they wanted.

Alese and I crashed at our house at about midnight. It had been a busy day and we were tired.
However we knew the next few days would be even crazier.


It was going to be a good kind of crazy though.

I suck, why didnt you guys tell me I sucked so bad? It's been 10 days since mi last update! Someone slap me! I deserve it haha.
