Almost Unbreakable

Epilogue: A Daydream So Bright

"Mom, Dad?" I heard Carthan say, walking through the door frame of our living room. His shaggy black hair was draped across one of his piercing blue eyes and I swear I was looking at his father twenty years ago.

The sweet boy was only sixteen, and I couldn't help but think he was everything Andy and I raised him to be. He loves Black Veil Brides, he even has a band of his own. Pretty unknown since we moved back to Ohio when Carthan was seven, except for the die hard BVB fans who made a point of knowing the Biersacks lives.

"Yes?" I said, looking up from my computer. As the senior writer of PETA, the mother website of Peta2, I always had to be working. Luckily from home though.

Andy still tours, sounds crazy right? 42 and still touring with his favorite group of guys. I don't go with him much now, maybe a few shows here and there but I have a son to take care of.

"I have a question.." Carthan trailed off as I felt Andy grab my hand.

"Okay." He smiled.

"Who is Brett Gilmore?" Carthan asked. I stole a quick glance at my husband of sixteen years to see him looking at his lap.

"I think its time Andy." I said, rubbing his knuckles. We'd been keeping the secret for sixteen years and Carthan needed to know who is grandparents were and why they weren't in his life.

"Time for what?" He shook his head.

"Son, we've been keeping a huge secret from you." Andy sighed.

"Well what is it!?" Carthan exclaimed.

"We've told you how we met when we were younger, and then found each other again after I went to college." I said, making him nod. "Well, it didn't exactly play out that way."

"The band was doing well with two albums out and an Ep. But I was drowning in sorrow without Daisy. Then, sometbing magical happened. I was booked for an interview with Rock Forever and in walks this perfect interviewer. A picture of me and her slipped from her notebook so I immediately took her outside to try and console things. I'd been looking for her for two years and finally had found her." Andy smiled at the memories.

"And when he did I had to break the truth. I was arranged to marry the wealthy, Brett Gilmore." I said. Carthan seemed content to just listen so I went on, "I told Andy that I didn't love Brett and that I had always loved your father. We decided we'd call off the wedding but not after a little while of friendship. Or so we thought. Brett hit me that night, so I ran away from your grandparents house. I ran to Andy. They came looking, of course, but we broke off the engagement with ease."

"What we didn't understand was that the Gilmores and the Jenkins were in business together selling and making drugs. That's why Daisy was supposed to be married to him. They kidnapped her, then later me. Took her to a church, tried to force her into marriage but luckily Ash, Jake, Jinxx, CC, Danny, and Matt saved the day." Andy said.

"Brett, my parents, and his parents were sent to jail. It was all incredibly dramatic. Your grandfather died in prison. Your grandmother killed herself, and Brett was arrested for murder two months after he got out of jail the first time. Now he's spending his life in federal prisons." I sighed. "We didn't tell you because..we didn't want that in your life."

"We love you son, and our troubled past was too much for you to handle until now." Andy said. Carthans mouth hung open as he brushed his hair from his eyes, a habit he had taken from his father.

"Wow." He shook his head.

"How did you find out about him?" I asked.

"Grandma let it slip." He chuckled.

"Of course." Andy laughed, "Well now you know."

"Thank you for telling me." Carthan smiled.

"Anytime son." I winked, "Are you hanging out with your friends tonight?"

"I think so, we have band practice." He shrugged, standing up.

"Alright." I said, smiling as he left the room. I looked over at Andy, taking in the fine lines across his still beautiful face. He smiled at me and I rested my head on his shoulder.

"I'm glad he knows." He whispered, kissing the side of my head.

"Me too." I nodded.

"Maybe we can take a date-night tonight. It would be relaxing." He smiled.

"I'd like that." I said, leaning up to kiss him. Love still pulsed through my heart and I was positive it always would.

Andy was my rock. Being Mrs. Biersack wasn't always so easy but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I'm not almost unbreakable anymore. I am unbreakable.

And that's all I've ever wanted.
