Can't Escape my Fate

Chapter 7

I looked up at the person who killed the demon, not knowing if he was going to make me his next target or not. I was more than surprised when he offered his hand to me. Almost without thinking I took his hand and let him pull me up. I stumbled into him and leaned against him for a moment as a wave of déjà vu swept over me. “Thank you.”

“No problem kitten, just stay back alright?” I looked up at the nickname and nodded. I knew him, I just had no idea who he was, or so I thought. As he went to join the fight I called out to him.

“Ash, be careful. They’re not normal shadows.” He looked over his shoulder and smiled before running to join the others in the fight. I stayed put for a bit, getting my energy back from the fight. I knew if I forced it, I’d be able to help but at a risk. I didn’t want to let the guys fight all the demons on their own, but I knew that they were more suited to battle than I was.

By the time the demons started thinning out; the full moon was just over the horizon. Kilik was obviously getting tired, and I knew that the guys probably were as well. I was rested enough to rejoin the fight, so I started taking out the demons closest to me. I ended up next to Ash and took out the demon that was attacking from behind. The majority of the demons were destroyed by the time I realized what Kilik was doing.

He used the life energy of whatever was killed to fuel his magic, and with the amount of demons we destroyed he would be able to unleash an extremely powerful spell. My body moved before I could even decide what to do. I pushed the shortest of the five guys to the ground just seconds before the black magic hit me.

Jinxx Pov:

I looked at the girl who just pushed me to the ground a split second before bringing a wall of fire around the guy who summoned the demons. I stood up and brushed the sand from my pants and glared at the fire.

“You okay Jinxx?” Jake asked as he jogged over to where I was. He had blood running down his face from a head wound.

“Yes.” I brushed my hand over Jake’s wound, healing it instantly. “CC, how did you manage to get into this much trouble?” I knelt next to the girl and brushed her hair from her face, she looked familiar but I refused to think about it. I healed the worst of the injuries before looking at CC.

“That’s not my fault. That guy is insane.” He stared at the wall of flames as he spoke before walking over to me and the girl. He picked her up before addressing the rest of us. “Bring him in for questioning. We might be able to use him.”

Jake and Ash bound the boy’s hands and dragged him behind us. It was almost too easy, Kotta said that we needed to hurry, and I guess technically we did, but they could have handled it on their own. I looked at the girl, curious as to who she was but at the same time not wanting to. “Jinxx, you alright?”

“Yes CC, I’m fine. It’s just tiring, killing so many demons.”

“There’s something else isn’t there? Something you’re not telling us.” He knew me too well, which was scary in itself. “You miss her still don’t you?”

“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t.” It was true, I missed Lynnette more than anything, and I’d give anything to get her back. All of the scouting parties we sent out never brought back any information as to where she could be. And I just started accepting that I was probably never going to see her again.

The moment we reentered the town, a child ran up to CC and stared at him silently. “She’s going to be alright, I promise. Your mom just used up too much energy making sure you stayed safe.” She seemed to accept CC’s answer and stayed at his side as he brought the girl to the ‘hospital.’

“Any of you know who either of them are?” I looked more at Ash and just gave him a confused look when he smiled slightly.

“You never know, as far as I can tell she’s just a mother protecting her child.” Deciding that I wasn’t going to be able to make sense of anything that Ash was saying, I split off from the group and went to the training ground, needing a place to relax. Perhaps Kotta would tell me what I needed to know when I next saw her.

Notes

I apologize for the wait, and the short chapter. I'm a bit stressed right now and I'm trying to deal with people who claim they are my friends when it's quite obvious they are not. If anyone has any ideas for this, please let me know.

@Roses and thorns
I fully intend to pick this story back up. I haven’t thought of this site in years, but yesterday I wanted to read my old stories, so now I feel the desire to start again. I promise there will be a new update in the near future. Thank you for reading

Please update

update? ^_^

@musicminxx
I'm going through massive writers block as well, so it's like everything seems so boring for me. But I promise that I won't give up with this. Gonna suck it up and spend the rest of today writing (hopefully) I'm watching two different shows while trying to write and it's extremely distracting.
