Can't Escape my Fate

Chapter 6

“I wish I had my other blades. These are good, but they’re too heavy.” I pulled the daggers I had out and held them at the ready. I let the electricity I had built up shoot out over the blades, causing them to turn a light blue. I stared at the demons, almost daring them to make a move.

“I think Jinxx has your blades. You dropped them during the last fight.” CC pulled his sword out and held it lazily at his side. “You think they’ll make a move before darkness falls?”

“No. What they don’t realize is that tonight’s a full moon. They aren’t going to be using the darkness as an advantage, and even if they could, you know how bright flashes of lightning are?”

“Yeah, I’ve been around you long enough to know just how bright it is. Are you willing to make the first move this time?”

I smiled a bit and looked up at CC, “I’d love to. Besides, I get the feeling that we’ve always allowed them to move first.” I went to move towards the demons then stopped, “Just so you know, I have absolutely no control over fire. I can cast it, but after that it’s pretty much got a mind of its own. I just wanted to let you know.”

“Yeah, I figured. Fire is Jinxx’s element anyway.” CC and I dropped the conversation and slowly made our way to the demons, weapons at the ready. The shadows seemed almost hesitant, which was unnerving since they never hesitated before going into battle. ‘Could it be a trap? They’re not smart enough to plan something…unless they’re waiting for something. A sand trap possibly…it would make sense, but they wouldn’t be able to make one unless they were being ordered by the person who summoned them, and F.E.A.R isn’t here. Kilik…He was the only one aside from F.E.A.R who could control the shadow demons.And he was F.E.A.R’s biological son, and was also in my unit.’

“CC, stop they’re planning something…and I have a bad feeling that we’re going to be walking into a trap.”

“Very perceptive Lynnette, you’ve always been one to see through my traps. But the question is, what do you plan to do about it? There are well over twenty demons at my command, and you know just as well as I do that I can summon more very easily.”

“What am I going to do about it you ask? I’ll kick your ass and leave you to the rebels to interrogate. I’m sure we can get plenty of information out of you.”

“You’re a traitor to everything F.E.A.R stands for. You’re worthless, letting a false memory rule over your judgment.”

Kilik wasn’t one to listen to anyone, even F.E.A.R.We were a lot alike, we were easily bored with the same routines day in and day out. “If we can beat his shadows, he might listen to reason and surrender.I’m not sure but with his abilities the Legion could use him.”

“You say that, but he looks like he’s ready to kill.”

“CC, he’s like me. He’s never known another life outside of F.E.A.R’s domain.”

“Enough talking Lynnette, you want you be in with pathetic rebel scum? Then so be it.” In less than a second, I had four demons surrounding me. I quickly dispatched them with one bolt of lightning. Through silent conversation, CC and I agreed that I’d handle the demons and he would go after Kilik. Even though I was focused on slaughtering the shadow demons, I could hear the clashes of metal, signaling that Kilik was actually fighting back. Within minutes both of my daggers were destroyed from the overuse of electric magic and being clashed against the hardened staffs of the demons.

I eventually managed to get a staff from one of the demons I killed and slowly ended up destroying that as well. It seemed that only my original blades which were forged using magic and restored by magic would withstand the stress of the magic. I risked a glance at CC and begged whatever god there was to let the fight end quickly. CC was clearly drained simply from the fight. I wouldn’t put it past Kilik to be using magic to drain him even more, but there was no proof.

Three shadows attacked at the same time, I tried shooting electricity at them only to realize that I was completely drained as well. One of the demons landed the end of his staff on my stomach, sending me to the ground a few feet away. I looked up at the demon defiantly, and tried to summon at least one more bolt of electricity. As the demon was readying for the final blow, a sleek, black blade shot through the demon’s chest, killing it instantly.

Notes

Sorry I'm updating so slowly. Between family issues, being sick as fuck and suffering even more from insomnia, I've had little to no drive to write any of my stories. And since I have to plan and really get into the world, let's just say that over the past week I was very tempted to just abandon this. But worry not, I'll continue writing this, I'm just not going to promise quick updates like there were for LOTL.

@Roses and thorns
I fully intend to pick this story back up. I haven’t thought of this site in years, but yesterday I wanted to read my old stories, so now I feel the desire to start again. I promise there will be a new update in the near future. Thank you for reading

Please update

update? ^_^

@musicminxx
I'm going through massive writers block as well, so it's like everything seems so boring for me. But I promise that I won't give up with this. Gonna suck it up and spend the rest of today writing (hopefully) I'm watching two different shows while trying to write and it's extremely distracting.
