Sink Your Teeth Into Forever
Chapter 8
Jinxx's POV
They glared at each-other, as they could kill simply by looking. The looks they gave were terrifying, and I knew that at this point Andy was acting on self defense. For some reason Ashley had decided to take out his anger on Andy. Andy couldn't turn his back, or Ashley would most likely strangle him from behind with his bare hands. That's right, hands. They both still looked human, and I hoped for Lauren's sake that they stayed like that. Although I'm not quite which is worse, two men fighting like animals, or two men turning into animals and then fighting. Everyone was standing back, the two were like time bombs, when you didn't know how much time was left on the clock. Even someone without Andy's abilities could feel the almost palpable static tension building in the air. Like before a bad storm when you're waiting for the torrential downpour. It was only a matter of time before either Ashley backed down, or one of them snapped. I doubted Ashley would back down.
Suddenly the staring contest broke when Ashley threw a punch that moved so fast a human wouldn't have been able to see it. Luckily Andy did or he'd be looking for a plastic surgeon who knows how to repair a jaw. Andy caught the punch mid-flight, there was a snap, Ashley's finger broke. Neither of them flinched. They stood like that for a moment, Ash's fist in Andy's hand. At first I thought that Ashley was going to pull away and stop the fight. Nope. He kicked Andy's leg in an attempt to throw him off balance. The kick landed in the wrong spot and it wasn't strong enough, all he'd done was make Andy mad. Not a good idea, given the fact that Andy still had a hold of his fist. Andy twisted Ashley's arm forcing him onto the ground, either that or loose the hand. As soon as he was down, Andy climbed on top and started hitting Ash in the face repeatedly. It could not have felt good. Ashley wasn't just laying there letting this happen, he had his hands on Andy's chest and was trying to push him off. I imagined that it would be difficult to think logically while your brain is repeatedly getting bounced around inside your skull, so I guess I understood why Ash hadn't tried a different tactic, while his first wasn't working.
Andy stopped punching for a moment, maybe he was hoping that Ash had given up and he could stop hurting his friend, that was his mistake. The momentary lapse in hits must have given Ash a moment to think because cocked his fist back far enough to be able to land a solid punch right in the middle of Andy's chest. There was another crack, a broken rib if I had to guess. That seemed to stun Andy for a moment giving Ash another chance to do damage. he threw Andy off of him using his legs and arms for force sending Andy into the pool.
Ash stood and stumbled like the punches from earlier were strong enough to throw him off balance. Meanwhile Andy splutter and emerged from the water dripping wet. The look on his face was one you would expect to see on that of someone prepared to go on a murderous rampage. Ashley had embarrassed him, in front of his mate. Andy hadn't been angry before, before was self defense. But coming out of the pool he was beyond furious. I couldn't comprehend how he was still human, probably some section of his brain was feeling Lauren's pure terror, and was trying to keep him from scaring her more, for CC's sake. He was breathing heavily, and staring down Ash again. For some reason, Ash was stupid enough to keep fighting. At this point anyone with a brain would have backed down, Andy looked down right murderous. Ashley made what may have been the biggest mistake of his life, he came at Andy again, trying to put him back in the pool. Andy went right back at him they met in the middle grappling, trying to take each-other down. Their strengths were matched. Andy broke free from the grip Ash had on him and grabbed something from the table next to the grill. At first I didn't know what it was, then when I saw the glint of metal, I realized it was a butcher's knife. He was really going to try and kill someone. He lunged at Ash, who saw the attack coming and managed to dodge out of the way. Andy swung repeatedly, Ashley was most definitely on defense now, he was backing up, dodging the knife blade. Finally he came to a point were he couldn't back up any farther, he was against the fence, with a table right next to him. Andy attempted to stab him once again, and the knife ended up lodged in the fence. Andy tried to pulled it out giving Ash a moment once again to think. He grabbed a metal tray and slammed it into Andy's face, much like a Roman warrior would with his shield. Andy stumbled back and fell onto the ground, his back to Ash obviously stunned. Giving Ash another moment to think. He grabbed a chair from the table and brought it back down on Andy's back, there was another crack, probably more ribs. Andy leaped up, angered again, not yet feeling the pain and back handed Ash. They both were tiring out so this was bound to end soon, one way or another. Ash stumbled back, losing his balance easily due to exhaustion, and fell on his back onto concrete. I heard Lauren start to sob, and Sammie buried her head in my shoulder so she wouldn't have to see. She knew as well as I did what was about to happen. Andy's natural instinct would make him want to reaffirm his position as Alpha of the pack. That didn't mean Ash giving up, that meant making it so that he couldn't fight back, by any means necessary. It didn't matter if they were best friends, Andy would fight relentlessly to kill if he had to. He stood over Ash and picked him up, by the front of his belt and the collar of his shirt. Andy held Ash above his head, and slammed him down onto the concrete. Part of the crunch his impact made was the pool deck breaking, the other part of the sound and the cry of pain was Ashley breaking.
