Sink Your Teeth Into Forever

Chapter 16

Andy's POV
My ear stung as I turned to face my attacker, a growl ripped through me. For some reason I felt obligated to protect the girl. Call it more pack intuition, I knew that she couldn't be hurt. I pushed her behind me as I became hypersensitive of our attacker. He was some guy in a suit, that didn't make a whole lot of sense to me. He was aiming again, the barrel of the gun pointed right between my eyes. There was nothing I could do, if I ran at him he would shoot, and I as dead. If I went wolf he would shoot and I would be dead. I struggled to think of someway that I could get out of this. My brain drifted to Juliette. At that moment I wasn't sure if I'd even told her that I loved her before I left. I was sure that I was staring death in the face. I couldn't jump to the side, then he'd hurt the girl, and something told me that he being dead wouldn't be good. That was it I was stuck, my heart broke as I thought of all the people I was about to leave behind. The pack, my parents, Juliette, the fans. The man's hand tightened on the trigger, still aimed directly at my head. The was another bang. I braced for death, but it never came I opened my eyes, the guy was sprawled on the floor, the remains of what appeared to be a vase scattered around his chest. He was struggling to get up and reaching for his gun. I grabbed the girl and ran. I pulled her out the front door, still not fully comprehending what had just happened. I opened the passenger side door of my car.
"Get in," I said, she looked at me like I was insane. Another shot split the air, the maniac was back up and shooting again. The girl jumped and climbed in the front seat. Another shot. My rear view mirror went to mirror heaven. Rather than wasting time going around the car I decide to jump directly over. I landed on top and then landed on the driver's side. As I got in the windshield broke. Thank God this guy was a terrible shot. As we pulled out there were a few pangs as more bullets hit the car. Then we were gone, speeding down the road at well over a hundred miles per hour. Once we were quite a ways away maybe twenty miles or so I pulled over. I had to think. I rested my head on the steering wheel and closed my eyes. I could feel my pulse rushing in my ears my breathing was still increased. I was alive. How? Still not entirely sure. It was probably the girl, she'd thrown the vase to save me, why? I had no idea. Did this count as kidnapping? Probably. If it didn't now it was about to, I wasn't letting her go until she told me where Ashley was. Juliette, for all I knew maniac's in suits were going to try and go shoot her. I had to get to her.
"Are you okay?" I asked the girl. She'd been sniffling and sobbing lightly in the seat next to me. I looked up she was shaking her head. Her emotions were fully dominated by fear (of me), shock (at what had just happened), and guilt (about whatever happened to Ashley). Her brown hair hung around her face her knees were pulled to her chest. She was pale and visibly trembling, but I didn't smell any blood.
"Are you physically injured?" I said.
"I don't think so," She said between sobs, she was trying to calm down. She looked at me, with bright green eyes, she didn't trust me at all, I can't say that I blamed her. I wanted to start getting answers from her right then, but I wanted to make sure that the rest of the pack was safe. Maybe they would know who she was. I pulled my phone out of my pocket and called Juliette, my heart raised to my throat as she didn't pick up, one ring, two rings, three rings, four rings. Just as the fifth was beginning she picked up I sighed with relief.
"Andy? Is everything okay?" She said sounding concerned.
"No. Get the entire pack to our house, don't leave anyone behind. That means the girls too. Don't go outside. If someone knocks check and see who it is first. You see someone that you don't know, then do not give them any sign that you are there. Lock all the doors and windows," I said. She hesitated.
"Andy, why?" She said.
"Please just do as I say. I'm scared that someone is going to try and hurt one of us. I'll be home really soon and I'll explain what happened, just please. I'll feel better if the guys are there with you," I said, nearly begging.
"Okay, I love you, please get home quickly," she said.
"I will. I love you too," I said hanging up. The girl had stopped crying, she was still scared though.
"You're like Ashley aren't you," She whispered. I wasn't even surprised anymore.
"Yes, and you have a lot of explaining to do,"
