Sink Your Teeth Into Forever

Unseasonably cool air stirred my hair, I stood outside the tour bus waiting. It was the last night of Warped Tour, we'd be heading home later tonight. Most bands were already in there buses waiting to leave, we would be too if it weren't a full moon. Full moon means trouble for Black Veil Brides. The only reason I was still me was the fact that there was a cloud covering the silver moon. I leaned against the bus, the wind blew again, my eyes shifted to the sky and the clouds began to move. I heard a cry of pain from somewhere in the distance, followed by a howl drifting into the air. It was Andy, he was ready to hunt.

As I watched, the sliver of moonlight grew closer, inching across the gravel towards me. There's two ways to do this, let the moon change you, by standing and wait for it to creep up over you, changing one part of you're body after the next. It's slow and grueling but the pain is bearable. Then there's the way that I choose, jump into it, so everything changes at once. The pain is quite nearly unbearable but it's over much quicker. Soon I wouldn't have a choice, the moon light was getting closer by the second.

I shifted my weight so I was standing straight up I only had space for a few steps before I plunged into the white light. Let me try and describe for a moment the feeling of changing from a tiny human, to an absolutely massive wolf in nothing but a few milliseconds. It's like you've had a beast smothered inside you that has been fighting for the past month to get out. Finally the moonlight gives it the energy it needs to grow, so it reaches out with it's claws and tears through your flesh. Rearranging your bones to suit it's needs, then your tiny human body is the one smothered on the inside. The brains mix, the brain of a violent wolf ready to kill anything that stands in the way of a meal, and the brain of yourself who doesn't want to hurt anyone. They find a happy medium of starving for food but not wanting to kill anyone but the meal.

I'd be lying if I said i didn't scream in pain when I changed but it was over in a few milliseconds, quick enough to hit the ground on all four paws. After i shook off the pain I lifted my nose to the air and let out a howl to let the others know that I was ready. I ran in the direction that I'd heard Andy, the sooner we got together and hunted the sooner we were done, and got to go home and pretend to be normal. I padded along the ground not paying much attention until I turned around behind a building and caught a familiar scent. I looked up, I should have been paying attention then i would not be having this problem.

It was our old drummer Sandra, she was texting and walking, hadn't seen me yet, I was just going to back up and leave her alone when Andy bombarded my brain.

"Hey man where are you?" he asked his thoughts echoing through my brain.

"Stay back dude I'll find you guys," I replied, if they got close surely Sandra could see us and that probably wouldn't make her think too much of her sanity.

"No way man we're coming to you, you're tardy to the party we already found eachother we'll be there in like two seconds," It was CC's voice this time.

"NO!" I said loudly in my head, but I unintentionally yipped out loud. I heard Sandra gasp, she'd heard me, and now saw me. I doubted she would recognize me but seeing even one impossibly huge monster wolf wasn't too good for the brain, five would be worse. She backed up, I tried to make myself look as non-threatening as possible, but when I stood up straight my giant form was almost taller than her small stature. Even for a human she was small, no taller than five feet. She backed up quickly trying to get away from me, unfortunately she bumped straight into Andy who had just come lumbering around the corner. He was definitely taller than she was.

"oh, that's why you didn't want us around," Andy surmised in my head.

"Yeah you idiot, maybe you should listen more often," I snapped.

"Sorry,but now we have a problem," He said. Sandra backed away from Andy but not just him, the rest of the pack had also rounded the corner. Andy sat down and tilted his head to one side, trying to be cute, but at this point I think that we were far beyond being adorable to her. I tried to think of the best way to handle our little problem, without hurting her or scaring her more. Clearly Jake had other ideas he stepped around Andy and close to her, she was taller than Jake at least. He snarled and she turned and ran tripping over my paw in the process. She fell flat on her face in the mud. Jake took the opportunity to pick her up by the hood of her jacket, much like a mother dog would carry her pups by the scruff of their neck.Sandra kicked and tried to get away but Jake held on tightly.

"Don't worry about it guys, I got this," he said.

"Where are you taking her?!" I said.

"Her tour bus, where else?" Jake sounded enthused by his own seemingly brilliant idea, that was probably somewhat traumatizing to our little friend. I wasn't sure what other choice we had. Plus her bus was just across the way, she was presumably headed in that direction to begin with. Jake carried her across the street, kicking and struggling the whole way.

"I just wish we had someway to tell her we weren't planning on killing her, that might make this easier," Jinxx said standing next to me to watch the show. Finally Jake managed to get her across the street, he plopped her down right next to the front door of the bus. She sat and stared at him looking shocked, I made a mental note to call her later to see how she was doing. Jake wagged his tail and trotted back towards us.

"Well that's that but we still have to hunt," Andy rumbled. He was right, we had to get full meals before the night was over, if a werewolf doesn't hunt during the night of a full moon we'll starve, no matter how much we eat as humans later on. We'd already burned so much moonlight.
