Living the Dream

Never Give In, Never Back Down.

*Myah's POV*

Krystal is an awesome girl! I love her hair - It's jet black with orange tips. Really brings out her eyes; they're brown... Wait, no- They're green. Wow, no they're not - They change colour. When she is in a lighter lit room they're green, but when it's darker it's like they're brown. Oh my God; and her accent. It's so adorable! British accents are so cool.
Getting a job was such a good idea. I'm 23 and haven't really done anything with my life, so this is a first. Ashley doesn't really like us being in the limelight unless we want to be, so that makes it a lot easier to have, um- a "normal" life. The fans don't recognize me as his sister often at all. But having this job is great! I've already met Krystal and I am certain we are going to be good friends. She's taught me how to pull a pint. Haha. I haven't said anything but I knew how to do that already; we have a bar back at our place so I do it all the time.
She's also taught me how to carry the trays of food and drink correctly. I tried the first time and let's just say the restaurant are now 4 plates down and the floor is rather sticky still. Her way is actually so much more comfortable. It's all about placing your hands correctly.
You can tell she doesn't really talk to many people, probably only her pals back at her apartment. I've learnt that she is 20 years old, moved over here from London with her bandmates on her 18th birthday. Misses home like crazy, misses her parents and her sister a lot. But her band sounds pretty cool, "The Bleeding Unseen" catchy... Her passion for music was obvious. She talked about how she wanted to reach out to fans and influence people, inspire people; I guess a lot like Black Veil Brides do. I want to help this girl. I am going to do everything in my power to do so.

"Oh jeez, I'm sorry. I'm just babbling on about music" She laughed "I'll shut up now."

"Don't be stupid! I love music and your band sounds awesome! You should play for me some time" Her face lit up "Maybe I could come over to your apartment when your free?"

"Yeah! Sure thing. Wow, I'll call the guys on break! This is going to be so cool." See? Her passion for the music was insane. To get this happy to play for just one person... That is dedication.

We had been working for 5 hours, so we went for our breaks. As we were changing out of our aprons and jackets, I noticed some brusing and wounds on her arms. She did her best to hide them; she changed into a hoodie so so quickly; I knew she was desperatley trying to make sure no one saw them. It looked as though she had put foundation over them. I tore my eyes away as I didn't want her to realise I had seen them. She was obviously covering them because she didn't want them seen.
We sat down in the staff room; she made herself a cup of tea and I sat with my Cola.

"Haha! How very British of you, tea right?"

"Yeah. You ever tried it?"

"Um, I think I did when I was younger but I can't remember it" She nudged the cup over to me and I took a sip. Putting on my best British accent I said "That was totally spiffing!"
We both burst out laughing and she held her ribs as she stopped herself laughing.

"You okay? That looked painful."

"I'm fine, I just walked into a door" Her eyes fell to her lap. I could tell something wasn't right. I didn't like her this way. I liked her happy. "So, what kind of music do you listen to?" I tried to change subject.

"Oh, I like all sorts really. I like a song for it's lyrics and meaning; but the music obviously helps! I prefer rock'n'roll, metal; y'know, the heavier side of music." Her face had lit up once more. I asked her to give some examples and she could list band after band and I took particular interest when she said "and I bloody love the Black Veil Brides. Been to 3 of their concerts now. Met them once; it was so rushed though, more like a signing than a meet and greet, would have been great to actually talk to them a bit more in depth." I listened even more intently than I had before "Y'know I smiled a lot when you introduced yourself. I would adore to have the second name Purdy." I pretended to act puzzled. "Oh- Ashley Purdy, he's the bassist; he's gorgeous, caring, just lovely. Well they all are. But there's just something about Ashley. Haha! He's a proper ladies man, but I don't care. At the meet I asked him if he could write 'Never Give In, Never Back Down - Ash' And he did. I went and got it tattooed on my forearm a few days before my 18th then we moved." In a moment of excitement and happiness she forgot about the marks as she lifted her sleeve to show me the lyrics in Ashley's handwriting on the inside of her forearm. It was amazing. Well what I saw of it. He must inspire her a lot for her to get that tattooed, not just in script, but in his handwriting. She jerked her sleeve back down once she realised and went quiet again.

"Krystal? Can I ask where those marks have come from?" She insisted she was just clumsy. "I know you don't know me too well but you can talk to me, I'm not going to hurt you too"

"I can't. I need this job. I can't let on. I'm sorry" her eyes welled up and she scurried off to the toilets.
