Chapter 17: Abeyance
CC's POV
Jake seemed really quiet all morning, until we were in the studio. I think we embarrassed him. I don't think he was going to talk to Jinxx for me. It was only a matter of time before Jake asked me, Ashley and Andy to go and listen to the guitar parts. Jake's part was very metal, but it went well with Jinxx' melodic rock guitar part. They went well together. "CC we're going to record drums on a tape recorder and try and improve it, if you and Jake do that." Andy told me as I was running into the booth to setup. Jinxx turned off the microphone. I could see Andy, Ashley, Jake and Jinxx talking. "Alright, CC give us a beat." Ashley demanded. I began to rap. "Now play your kit." Jake insisted smiling. I listened to the track a couple times and planned out my beat. I then went for it when I knew what I was going to play. Jake decided to record the drums on the computer, it would be easier to make perfect. Jake and I were left in a room together to work on the drums. "Um, CC I was wondering, tomorrow night, would you want to go to the movies to see Evil Dead, with me?" He asked nervously. "Just us, yes, you're driving, I'd be scared." I answered feeling really stupid. "I'm down with that." Jake commented. "I love you Jake." I muttered. "I love you too." He grabbed me and pulled me into a kiss. "Woah, we don't want to get heated, you don't know who could walk through the door." I whispered breaking the kiss. He pulled me back in for a kiss. We were too busy to notice Jinxx's presence. Jinxx coughed to get our attention. I was left in a daze as Jake pushed me away, immediately breaking the kiss after Jinxx coughing. "Jake can we please talk to you for a second?" Jinxx asked. Jake looked at me before he answered, I was out my daze when he looked at me. "Yeah." He complied. I couldn't help but think about the possibilities they would want to talk, mixing? I'm clueless when it comes to mixing tracks or anything, guitar parts? New guitars? New amps or toners? Bass lines? I don't know. I'm sure I'll find out at some point.
Jake's POV
When CC was in the booth, Jinxx turned down our mike, so I could tell Ashley and Andy that I plan to propose to CC. Jinxx left with Andy and Ashley. CC and I recorded drums and started to mix them, when I began to passionately kiss CC. Jinxx came in and coughed, immediately broke the kiss and left CC in a slight trance. Jinxx, Andy and Ashley wanted to talk to me, I complied and walked out the room with Jinxx. We walked into the main room to find Andy and Ashley playing with a small, blue, foam ball. They noticed us and sat down next to Jinxx, in front of me. "We want to know every detail, leading up to your decision and how you're going to propose." Andy demanded. "Well, Jinxx told CC that he couldn't work on guitars with us, but instead of sugar coating it, Jinxx told him very harshly. CC was crying on the bed, his face pressed into the pillow. CC told me what had happened because I was walking Trixy when CC called Jinxx. I felt sorry for him and decided that I wanted to spend my life with him, I truly love CC and hate seeing him upset." I looked around the room before continuing. "Jinxx and Sammi are taking me ring shopping tomorrow and then CC and I are going to see Evil Dead. I was thinking of proposing when we finish the album, but I might propose at the album release gig, to make this memorable for a good reason." I said. They all looked at me like I was a little puppy, so adorable and cute.
The next day Jinxx and Sammi picked me up early in the morning. We tried four ring shops before I saw a very nice platinum ring. I immediately bought it before I changed my mind. I gave the ring to Jinxx because there was less chance CC would find it. That night CC was scared stiff when the movie started, it was like going to see a horror movie with Mr. Bean. After the movie CC was okay but he still wanted to know I was there.
Brief summary of album process:
Jake, Jinxx and CC work on guitar parts, when the guitar parts were done, CC and Jake worked on drums, Jinxx worked on violin and Andy and Ashley wrote lyrics and bass lines. The recording process went, drums, guitars, bass and finally vocals.
