Second Chances

Chapter 35

I looked around the room where the interview was to be held. A freelancer, wanting to make a name for himself, asked for an interview and, because we were still relatively a new band we needed the publicity. I was dressed as I normally would be for any concert, and was waiting patiently for the boy to enter the room.

“Sorry I’m late, I got lost.” He smiled sheepishly and went about getting his recording equipment set up.

“It’s no trouble; I’m in no rush as we’re nearly done with the next album.” I leaned back on the couch and stretched, I just wanted this over with so I could go back home and finish recording the last few songs. I was supposed to meet Jazz at five at the coffee shop just down the road and hopefully if things worked out, we would go back to being friends.

“Sorry for the wait.” He sat in the chair next to the couch, “I’m Mark.”

“I’m Havic, lead singer for Lone Wolves.”

Mark: What got you into music? When did you know this is what you wanted, and when did you start?

When I was younger I’d watch my older brother play guitar, and sort of learned by ear. And when he started playing the violin I became even more interested and begged until my parents bought me my first guitar. I wanted to be just like my brother that when he left home to join a band, I got extremely upset and just pushed to be even better than he was. I guess because of that I realized how much I really liked music; I was maybe thirteen when I decided that this is what I wanted.

Mark: Can I assume that Jinxx from Black Veil Brides is your older brother?

Yeah, most people don’t really see the resemblance when they first meet either one, but once they see us side by side, they’re usual response is ‘oh, you two could be twins!’ there’s a nine year difference between us.

Mark: Is it hard, living in his shadow? Do people often compare you to him?

No, not at all. Almost no one knew Jinxx had a younger sister, and there’s really no ‘shadow’ as you say. He does his thing and I do mine, we’re very different and have different goals.

Mark: What do you see Lone Wolves doing in the next few years?

Well, obviously we’re going to promote our new full length record as much as possible. We’re going to try making a few music videos, but there are no promises for that since we’re not signed, and don't really have money for that. As for touring, I don’t really know. I mean I want to tour again with BVB, but there’s also bands like Escape the Fate, Asking Alexandria and Falling In Reverse that I’d love to tour with. But it’s not just up to me for that, it’s a group choice. If a band wants us to tour with them we’ll do it. Aside from that, I don’t know.

Mark: I know you play a lot at the local bar, and you meet different bands from that but if you could relocate, where would you guys move to?

As you know, Lone Wolves are based out of Moscow, Idaho. I want to move to Cali but the rest of the band is content to stay here. I think given time, we’ll move but I don’t know for sure. Granted, I could guilt them into it I’m sure.

Mark: You refer to yourselves as wolves, what brought that about?

Well, I’ve always hated being alone, and I love wolves. Looking into pack structure you see how much each individual wolf is needed within the pack. The band itself is essentially the top of the pack. You have me, the alpha, then Elk and Kaim as the betas, and Clair and Kaos as the ones who take care of the pack. All of our fans are members of our pack however, and we look out for each other.

Mark: Makes sense, now I know Jashire used to be in the band. What happened with that?

Well, Jazz had some issues that he had to deal with and it was just affecting the band too much. We agreed that he should leave the band for a while, until he sorts things out. But in my eyes, he will always be a valued member of not just the band, but my personal pack.

Mark: So Jashire is no longer a part of the band then.

No, I didn’t say that. I said he’s not with us at the moment. I’m not saying he’ll come back, but there’s always that chance.

The moment I left the building where the interview was being held I ran to my car and drove back to my place. The guys in BVB left the night before, needing to get back home to work on their own music. I went into the shop and sat on the couch. Elk and Kaim were walking Cast for me since I had the interview and Kaos brought Clair out to get lunch or something, which left me alone at the house. More than anything I wanted to be alone with Ash, and not have to worry about anything.

I sent Jazz a text asking if he wanted to meet up earlier than planned. I looked through the pictures on Clair’s camera and transferred some of my favorites to my computer. I set my favorite as my background on my desktop. It was the whole band sitting together on the floor, looking like something highly amusing was about to happen and we were trying our hardest not to react to whatever it was.

I smiled when my cell chimed signaling that I had a text, I read it and smiled a bit more. ‘I’ll pick you up now as long as you tell the rest of the pack to relax and that you’ll be back tonight.’ Doing as Jazz said, I left a note and went outside to wait for him to show up. It was about time I learned what was up with him.

Notes

so, what do you guys think is wrong with Jazz?? Also! semi important: I'm working on a new story, but it's different than what I've written on here. I want to know which you guys would prefer reading, a guy on girl or a guy on guy story? I don't care which as I can easily write both, but I would like more than one person to give me their opinion. (just so you know, I LOVE guy on guy)

Shout outs:
@ElodieGrimm and @batmanchick
Here's the update you both begged for (And don't lie, you know you begged) ^_^ You guys really are fucking awesome, and are valued members of my pack.

@ElodieGrimm
I just thought about my stories yesterday. I’m probably going to pick up Can’t Escape My Fate to get back into writing, then I just have to re-read Second Chances to remember where I was going with it. I didn’t fully intend on abandoning everything but life happens when you’re busy making other plans. I’ll post an update when I get a chapter written.

Hey old pal! I have not been on this site in three years and I'm pretty sure you haven't either. I just remembered about it today and wanted to check in to see how all my old friends were. I hope you're doing okay and I wanted you to know that I genuinely loved your story and would still totally keep up with it if you were still writing it. I love your writing; it has so much spirit and soul. If you're active on any other writing sites and you see this, PLEASE let me know because I loved this story and your personality. It meant a whole lot to me when you wrote me into it and it made me smile. Sending well wishes your way :)

@ElodieGrimm
I'm so sorry! I've been going through a LOT of shit. I've been in and out of the Mental Health Unit since...January? I pulled a few stupid stunts and had all my laptop/gaming privileges revoked. I just got a new laptop so I'll try to update as soon as I get a program that will open my documents. I didn't forget about you guys, my awesome Loners.
