An Unexpected Love

The room was dark, the curtains drawn and that was just the way Avery liked it. The only light was coming from her computer screen where visions of CC and Ashley were currently flashing across. She was editing the interview-the day that changed everything and Avery suddenly felt like crying. CC had admitted to her that he loved her-she had done the same-and yet they were no longer together. Ashley and Brittany were also no longer together and Avery knew her best friend was completely devastated by that fact. The two girls had left their boys at the end of the night, knowing full well that this was probably going to be the last time they would see one another. Julia had struck-she had made her move and it was a move that still left Avery reeling.

One fateful night, the same night she and CC had made love for the first time and her phone had accidentally recorded it, Julia had managed to obtain that video. She was holding it over Avery’s head, threatening her with it and so the blonde had done the only thing she could do-she cut ties with CC and had been alone ever since. It had been a week since that fight-Brittany still had the black eye to prove it and Avery still felt her anger swell within her. Julia needed to be stopped, but how? Avery hadn’t spoken to Ashley or CC, especially not CC, but she had shockingly been in touch with the one person who she didn’t really like-Andy.

The singer had sought her out just a few days after she and Brittany had left the guys and she was shocked to hear the stuck up front man pleading with her. Ashley and CC were both miserable and not playing their best-something that was obviously affecting the entire band and their morale. After bothering her for over two hours through text, Avery called Andy and asked him what he wanted. It was simple-he wanted his brother’s happy again and he would do whatever it took to accomplish that. That was when Avery had gotten the idea to try and dig up some dirt on Julia and Andy had agreed to help. Turns out Avery wasn’t the only girl in this situation who had a thing for band guys-Julia had been around the block quite a few times.

A few married musicians had given in to Julia’s wiles and after Andy had asked around he had found out exactly who. Now Avery had a list and while she should be focusing on editing their latest interview, she was more interested in what she was reading on the Interscope Records website. Turns out that Julia was a secretary for the record company, which explained how she had known where the guys were going to be and how she had gotten their personal numbers, but it also proved to be her down fall. What would her bosses think if they found out that Julia was fucking their clients-married clients-on company time and going on little romantic getaways with them on the company dime?

Avery smirked, but then a sigh escaped her lips as she heard a faint buzzing and immediately knew who it was-CC. The poor guy had been desperate to speak to her and she had only picked up the phone once and had to instantly hang up as she heard her now ex boyfriend crying on the other line. She hated to see him like this, but she couldn’t risk their private life being exposed…she couldn’t hurt CC any more than he already had been. Avery wasn’t happy about the situation-she missed the drummer like crazy and it sucked knowing that you loved someone, they loved you but the two of you just couldn’t be together. Would they ever be together again? Avery didn’t know, but she was hopeful.


CC: Avery, please call me
CC: Av-please don’t ignore me…I love you
CC: What if I was standing right outside your window right now?
CC:It’s the middle of the night and I can’t sleep. How are you?
CC: Just saw a fucking awesome pug being walked outside of the bus-thought of you
CC: Remember when we went to the movies and pissed off that old couple because we were screaming at the screen? Funny shit…
CC: Avery?
CC: Avery please…
CC: I miss you baby girl
CC: Will you please talk to Britt…Ashley isn’t talking to any of us anymore
CC: I don’t know why you left without saying goodbye…but I miss you.
CC: So glad we finally admitted our feelings for one another.


Avery scrolled through the messages, starting at the very bottom where she and CC had still been together. He had texted her while she had been dealing with the Julia thing-having been sent out of the room by Ashley and Brittany so they could work things out. She had never said goodbye to him, something that Avery regretted even now. Letting her phone lock, Avery set the small device down on her desk and moved to get up. Wednesday was snoozing on her bed, missing her best pal CC, but there was nothing to be done. Avery and CC were over-simple as that. Now Avery was peeking her head out of her bedroom door and was met with an eerie silence. Brittany was still in her room-where she had been for the past week.


“Britt?” Avery said softly as she knocked on the door. There was no answer, but if she pressed her ear up against the door, Avery could hear the soft sounds of crying.

“Brittany…it’s Avery…” Still nothing and Avery sighed and reached for the handle of the door. She couldn’t help but feel scared-Brittany had a tendency to take things out on herself and not in the healthiest way possible.

“I know you’re in there…I can hear your depressing pop punk music from out here…” Avery smirked as the door creaked open and a blonde head popped out.

“What do you want Avery?” Brittany asked and Avery tried to hide the shock that threatened to line her features. Brittany looked-well-she looked terrible and Avery knew now that her best friend was having a really rough time with everything.


The poor girl had bloodshot eyes, one eye was still swollen and purple looking. Her lips were chapped from biting down on them so much, the perfect finger nails that Brittany liked to keep were bitten down to the quick and it was pretty obvious that the girl hadn’t showered since they got home. It was sad seeing someone like this-it was even sadder knowing that Brittany always felt like she could never be happy. Julia had ruined a lot for them and Avery only hoped that she had finally found the solution to all of their Julia problems. Soon enough the two girls were hugging and even though Brittany didn’t smell all that great and Avery knew her best friend was really hurting, the two girls embraced one another.


“Look, I know this isn’t going to help make you feel better, but Andy and I are working on something to get Julia back.” Avery laughed as Brittany pulled away from her and just stared at the slightly taller girl.

“You and Andy? But-but you hate Andy…” Brittany sounded shocked and Avery couldn’t blame her-she really wasn’t Biersack’s biggest fan.

“Yeah well I love you more than I hate him, so consider this an early Birthday present.” Avery laughed as Brittany hugged her more tightly and the two girls just stayed like that for a minute. They could be different, especially when it came to relationships and romance, but they loved one another like sisters.

“So what’s the plan?” She asked as Brittany pulled away from her and smiled.

“Tell you what-go take a shower and we’ll head out and get some lunch. I need to see the sun and we both need to eat something before we waste away.” Avery only smiled as Brittany nodded her head and then moved to enter the bathroom.


Avery said nothing as she collapsed on the couch and pulled her phone out. Scrolling through picture after picture of her and CC made Avery sad, but it also brought something else within her to life.

The need for vengeance.


Watch out Jules…you aren’t the only one with some tricks up her sleeve. Payback’s a bitch, but not I’m the biggest bitch out there.
