An Unexpected Love

Chapter Twenty Five-Avery

Autumn in California was never very cold, but Avery couldn’t help but shiver as she walked down the sidewalk right outside of CC’s building. It had been three weeks since the threatening text massages and thankfully they’d received no more, but that wasn’t always a good thing. Avery knew Julia-she was lying in wait and when she struck it was going to be utterly devastating. Now was not the time to think about that though-Avery was more focused on not breaking her face as she walked down the sidewalk in the ridiculous dress she had on for the night’s festivities.

It was Halloween-her favorite Holiday-and Avery was currently walking down the street towards CC’s condo so that they could meet up and head over to Andy’s place. The singer was holding an annual Halloween party and of course Britt had told everyone that CC and Avery would be going together. At first Avery had been hesitant-her heart kept telling her this was a bad idea, but her gut was making her suck it up.

CC had turned out to be a great guy-all the way around-and he truly seemed to care about her. More than that-they had a ton of fun together, mostly at his place where she could bring Wednesday and they would just sit around and play video games or watch stupid movies. Tonight was a big night for them-their first outing as a quote, unquote couple.

They were a quiet couple-neither one of them spoke much to the other on social media and CC had only mentioned her once in a Tweet, but that was okay. For once Avery was okay with not being seen as ‘the girlfriend’ because it gave her a peace that she hadn’t had before with other guys. Her two year relationship before CC had been compromised by a lot of in fighting due to nasty comments left on her Twitter and Instagram. Fans were vicious and while Avery thought that maybe someone would come to her defense, it never seemed to happen. Then of course the lying, cheating and crying started up and she had been left…broken and alone.

Enter Christian Coma, with his wide smile and tube of crazy glue to piece her back together and lately Avery was feeling like a real person again. Right now though she was pretty miserable-why had they chosen to wear these costumes again? Her wide light blue dress, with the ruffles up near her hips and the tight corset top, was dragging on the ground slightly and Avery only huffed as she reached the door to the Condo building and held her skirt up slightly. She pressed the number five button-CC’s call button-and bit down on her lip. Her hair was pulled so tightly against her scalp that it was making her smile constantly, but maybe that was because she would be seeing her Prince Charming soon enough.

“Hello…” CC’s voice sounded out from the speaker in front of her and Avery only rolled her eyes. He knew who it was-she had texted him as she was leaving her place.

“C it’s me…buzz me up.” Avery said, slight laughter in her voice and she could feel her heart pounding in her chest a mile a minute. This corset was so flipping tight it was a miracle she could breathe at all right now.

“What’s the password…” His tone was playful and Avery only shook her head as she got really close to the small speaker box and smirked.

“If you don’t let me in I’m not going to this stupid party with you…is that correct?” She smiled as she heard a huff sound out through the speaker and soon enough she heard a small clicking noise.

Avery was able to open the door to the building, the warm air smacking her in the face and the tendrils of hair hanging around her cheeks blew back slightly. She had spent two hours getting her hair and makeup done for this party-how the Hell did Cinderella get her shit done with just an hour to spare and mice to help a girl out? Trying to fit her dress into the elevator had been interesting, but with a great shove and trying to suck it in the best she could, Avery was soon on her way up to CC’s door. The dress she was wearing was ridiculous, but Cinderella had always been her favorite Disney character. The dress was pale blue, with an overlay of clear sparkly fabric and the bodice hugged her considerable chest nicely.

Avery couldn’t wait to see CC-he agreed to go as her Prince Charming, but with one condition…she had to spend the night at his place tonight. This would be the first time that they would ever sleep in the same bed-usually Avery would leave in the wee hours of morning, no matter how tired she was. It’s not that she didn’t want to see CC all cute and adorable as he slept, but that was a different kind of commitment and not one Avery had been ready to make. She felt ready now though and her heart was pounding as Avery lifted up a white gloved hand and knocked on the door.

A moment passed before the door popped open and Avery felt her breath catch in her throat. There he stood-the funniest, most caring guy in the world and he absolutely looked like her Prince Charming. He had on a white suit jacket, with a red vest underneath, his black slacks were slightly tight around his hips and his hair was down around his shoulders. Of course CC had put on a little bit of eyeliner, but that was expected-hey at least it was the full on War Paint he had been threatening her with for the past week. He looked amazing and Avery had to quickly breathe in through her nose and out through her mouth before she passed out.

The girl standing before him was not someone he had ever seen before and CC was unsure of what to say or what to do. She looked beautiful in her full light blue dress, the skirt dragging on the floor slightly as she moved towards him. Her chest was tightly corseted and CC couldn’t help but appreciate the view, but that wasn’t the best part. The best part in all of this was the fact that Avery was actually here…standing in front of him and ready to do something neither one of them thought would actually happen.

She was going as his date and they both knew that this would cement them permanently together in the eyes of his fans. There would be pictures taken and those pictures would be up on Twitter within minutes and the world would finally see them together.

“Wow.” Was all he could say as CC looked at the girl who was standing before him. Her hazel eyes were lightly outlined and then smokey with a mixture of light grey and blue. She was biting down on a light pink lip and all CC wanted to do was to grab Avery and drag her inside his condo and lock the door.

“Am I your perfect Cinderella?” She teased as she looked him up and down-CC looked dashing in his suit and his hair actually looked like he had run a brush through it.

“You’re perfect…always.” His eyes looked like they were getting misty as he looked down at her and Avery only smirked and shoved his shoulder lightly.

“Come on…save the gushy stuff for the dance floor.” She smiled at him brightly and soon enough the two of them were walking down the hallway, hand in hand.

They made small talk as they walked down to Avery’s car and thankfully CC offered to drive. Avery was able to squeeze herself into the passenger seat-it had been a feat trying to even drive over here and she had almost caused two accidents. Finally after a ten minute drive on the freeway, Avery and CC arrived at a large house that had a gated entrance. There was a guard at the front gate and Avery felt her stomach clench as he checked them both off on the list and they were able to drive forward. Andy’s house was huge-the large windows staring down at them and she could see that there were a lot of people already there.

CC stopped at the valet station and quickly got out to run to her side of the car-dressing up like a Prince was having a hilarious effect on him. Avery giggled as her door was opened and CC held out a hand for her to take. Everyone around them stopped what they were doing as Avery exited the car and then looked around. People were staring and she had expected this-her dress was huge and she and CC were now holding hands as they walked up the steps towards the front door. The house was festively decorated with black and orange balloons and there were spiderwebs and skeletons hanging from the porch rafters.

Once they got checked in at the front door, CC and Avery entered the house and were both met by a large room that was already filled with people. How was she going to find Brittany in this mess? Avery only smiled as CC placed his hand on the small of her back and led her forward, but they soon stopped because Andy, dressed as Heath Ledger's Joker, was standing right in front of them. Juliet was probably somewhere around and Avery only rolled her eyes. She wasn’t the couple’s biggest fan-Andy was kind of full of himself and so was his girlfriend-but it was nice of him to invite her.

“Awesome party man!” CC laughed as he and Andy fist bumped and then they were both looking down at her. Say something Avery! She only smirked as she tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and looked up at Andy.

“Thanks for inviting me Biersack…” She said and Andy only smirked at her. He knew she didn’t like him, but Andy would prove her wrong one of these days.

“No problem. Ash and Britt are around here somewhere…excuse me.” Andy seemed to become distracted and as Avery turned around she could see why. Juliet had walked into the room, her gypsy skirt and crop top crumpled and she was swaying slightly. Avery only shook her head as she looked back towards CC and they both shrugged their shoulders.

The party was soon in full swing and finally they had located Ashley and Brittany-both dressed as a maid and butler and Avery could only smile. They were a cute couple, their matching black and white outfits cementing them even more in the officialness of everything and yet Avery couldn’t shake her gut feeling. Things had been too calm lately-Julia had left them alone since those text messages, but soon the boys would leave to go on tour and then what would happen? Ashley was behaving himself for now, but when he didn’t have Brittany to occupy him then what? Avery shook her head, smiling as she felt CC lead her off towards the dance floor and he had grabbed for her right hand and spun her around.

“You look really beautiful tonight Avery…not that you don’t look great every day that I see you.” He was smiling down at her softly and Avery couldn’t help but get lost in the moment. There was a slow song on and one of CC’s hands was against the small of her back, the other holding hers up in the air.

“You look pretty dashing yourself…” She smiled at him and CC only kept his eyes on her as they spun around the dance floor. There were other couples dancing around them-Ashley and Brittany danced by and winked at their best friends suggestively-but they really only had eyes for eachother in that moment.

“You know we’re leaving in two weeks to go on the road…” He sounded so sad and just by looking in to his deep brown eyes Avery could see just how sad CC really was. It almost seemed like he didn’t want to leave her, which was hard because that only meant that things were getting more serious than Avery had anticipated.

“I-I know…” She didn’t know what to say and so Avery just rested her head against CC’s chest and allowed him to continue spinning her around the dance floor.

“I’m going to miss you so much Avery…it’s not going to be the same without you.” His voice was wavering and Avery could feel her tears coming to her eyes. She had never wanted things to get like this-she had never expected to fall for CC in such a deep way.

“I-I know, but we still have two weeks…we should make the best of it.” She was smiling up at him now and CC could only return that smile and sniff away his tears lightly. The song had ended, but the two of them didn’t want to let go of one another.

Avery knew that everyone was watching and deep down she didn’t give a shit. Slowly she moved her hands up to cup his cheeks and she smiled as CC pressed his lips against hers. This was bound to be the perfect night and Avery knew she would have to cherish it because when she got up in the morning there was going to be a fire storm on every social media platform out there.
