Save Me From Myself

My back slowly hit the soft chair ad my eyes didn't loose contact with Jess's.

It's been about ten minutes have said anything to each other and now all she did was stare at me. It wasn't in a rude way, she was still trying to figure me out and get a feel for me i guessed and since I was doing the same thing I couldn't say anything.

Soon after too much silence for my liking I broke it.

" It looks like you're staring straight into my soul."

Her eyes lit up as she laughed towards me and shrugged.

" Well maybe I am." She stated making me smirk.

"Alright well just let me know if you find anything interesting in there okay?" I asked making me grin and nod once more.

Soon I heard a small jingling noise and before I had a chance to look around Trixy was leaping onto my lap. Her tiny body shook with excitement as her tale wagged back and forth making me smile.

" Oh hi baby whats up?" I gushed out patting her before realizing something.

Ella wasn't here, what the fuck?

" Wheres Ella?" I asked Jess who lifted her face up from her iPhone .

"She went to go get Lauren and Sammi about twenty minutes then was going to come back here to get us, she was just killing time waiting for you to wake up I guess." I

I nodded at her words and slowly realized my medication.


I kissed Trixy's head before lifting off the chair and placing her tiny body down on the floor. Without any movement she laidp down causing me to smirk.

"She knows me so well." I stated while slowly stretching and making my way towards the small hallway that connected to the kitchen.

I heard Jess laugh silently behind me as I entered the brightly lit kitchen. I made my way over to the wooden table placed in front of the glass window over looking outside, my four tiny pills placed in the middle with a glass of water.

I let out a sigh as I picked up the first two and popped them into my mouth immediately washing it down with water.

My feet refused to leave their spot as I took my time to slowly think of a way to get out of shopping with the girls.

I loved spending time with Ella don't get me wrong, but her shopping was something I hated to do. I always just sat there for hours bored out of my mind and with the girls coming too i could only imagine.

Mu uncle had also just gotten back home from visiting my other cousin Sarah and her family so I was hoping to see him today along with scoping out the area.

I also wanted to get to know Jess more without anyone else interrupting because yes we knew about each other but I wanted to start this friendship.

Plus, i doubt she wanted to go shopping too.

Suddenly I felt my feet heading out towards the living room.

" So, I have a question" I said while leaning against the doorway to the living room making Jess snap her head my way.

I saw her rest her arms against her knees staring at me with a questioning glance putting her phone down.

" Yes?" " How badly do you want to go shopping?"

She looked at me before sitting up stretching.

" I'd rather go drink a bottle of bleach" she said so easily making me tip my head back in laughter at her words shaking my head.

"God I really do like you. okay well that's just the answer I was looking for because I feel the same way; how would you like to go take an adventure with just us?" I asked making her take in a sharp breath and pause for a second obviously thinking.

I could sense that she was still slightly nervous around me but it was understandable considering what she knows of me and just met me.

Soon she smiled slightly bit then snapped her fingers making me cock an eyebrow at her.

"How?"

At her words my lips tugged into a smile as I quickly slipped my wallet from my back pocket. I flipped it open in order for her to see the plastic card that held my freedom.

"I have a license"

She nodded at my words relaxing a little while I slipped it back into my pocket.

"Okay okay, what about a car? You know we need one of those to drive somewhere"

I laughed before now pulling out my phone and unlocking it immediately typing a number I memorized when I was 13.

"Jake lets me use his, I'll call him" I said making her shake her head but smile.

I wasted no time to place the phone to my ear, hearing three rings until the line cut to a rustling noise.

"Hey kid " Jake said loudly making me smile and slowly venture down the wall to the doorway.

"Hey jake." I said back making him chuckle.

"glad to see you woke up." Jake chuckled out making me smile more while rolling my eyes, same as always.

Soon I felt my feet move and slowly walk out of the room down the hall towards the back of the house where his studio was at the end of the hall.

My eyes scanned the walls, glancing at all the tiny memories plastered on there.

"Yeah well sometimes I follow what i'm supposed to do."

He chuckled more into the phone as I stood in front of the studio room door glancing out the window praying he let me do this.

"So whats up, what do you need?"

I smirked over the phone, of course he knows what i'm always planning.
" What makes you think I need anything Jake? Maybe I just wanted to have a chat with my favorite cousin in the whole world." I said smoothly feeling a smirk itch onto my lips as my fingers traced the cold glass reflecting out into his yard.

The line was silent for a few seconds besides the voices talking in the background so I took it as my chance to go.

" Ok so can I use your car?"

Jakes laughter erupted over the phone making me smile more and glance at the floor.

" I should've saw that one coming. Why do you need my car if you're going with the girls?" He asked with edge in his tone that made me groan.

" Well maybe I want to explore the place I've missed all these years with Jess so I can actually try to be her friend you feel me?"

Again more silence occurred making me groan with laughter.

" Wait, you guys finally met and didn't kill each other?! Oh my god This is great!" He exclaimed with laughter making me smirk and shake my head at my cousins words.

" I guess so asshole so what do you say, can I please? After all this is what you wanted and here I am wanting to try and get a fresh new start, so you have to say yes." I countered back making him laugh harder making me realize he was going to say yes.

So thats why I opened the studio door revealing the small space I always see when we face timed.

I walk in further heading over to his long computer desk that held all his moniters, pro tools and other random technology along with the thing I was looking for.

His keys.

"ok, very true. Yes thats fine just please be careful, drive safe and nothing bad goes near Jess or in my car are we clear on that Julia? Not only is your life on the line but another's as well so please. Be safe." He stressed out making me sigh at my cousins worries but uunderstanding all of it.

He simply knows me too well.

" I promise Jake, the only drug I will be taking is food so don't worry , thank you so much." I rambled on making him chuckle.

" No problem have fun the keys are-"

Suddenly I gripped the key chain making it rattle and smile heading out the door.

" I got them right here , alright bye I love you."

Jake let out a small chuckle as I closed his door.

" Love you too text me later." He said right as I heard the front door slam shut meaning the girls were here.

" I will bye."

Soon I was slipping my phone back into my skinny jeans pocket walking down the hall so excited I was able to drive. I needed this so much and couldn't contain my excitement.

Soon as I got closer to the living room Ella's voice flooded the once quiet area making Trixy's collar jingle.

I smiled slightly placing the keychain in my back pocket letting it hang out of my pants slightly.

"Hey kid, she still hasn't woken up yet?"

Jess let out a small chuckle at those words causing me to roll my eyes just getting to the room.

"no she did, we talked for a bit, she stared at me for awhile and right now she's just-"

I cut Jess off by suddenly making my way into the living room with a laugh pointing a finger her way at her lies.

I noticed all three girls standing around in front of the tv as I spoke.

" Excuse me, you were the one starring at me"

Jess immediately looked at me and smirked.

"Yes but you returned the gesture" she defended making the girls laugh.

I let my lips tug into a bigger smile As Sammi shook her head.

"they're already acting exactly how I thought they would" she said making Lauren copy Sammi's actions and look between us.

"We are fucking screwed" she said causing me and Jess to laugh.

Ella slowly turned to me and made her way over to where I stood wrapping her tiny body around mine. I groaned slightly as she kissed the top of my head and squirmed away.

" get away from me slut" i groaned out in fake disgust making her slap the back of my head.

I groaned again making lauren laugh as Ella smirked.

"hush you little shit."

I shook my head towards her while walking further into the room and glancing at Ella as she spoke.

" so who's ready for shopping?" Sammi asked causing Jess to shoot a worried glance my way.

I gave her a warm smile signaling that I was taking care of it.

Already I could sense that in this friendship, I'd be doing most of the talking. Not that i was complaining, by now i was an expert.

"That's something I wanted to cut in actually, me and Jess are going to pass on that"

As I leaned against the arm of the chair Ella raised a eyebrow at me crossing her arms at my words making me stare right back at her and copy her actions.

Ella shook her head at my crossed arms and smiled.

" yeah? And doing what instead?" She asked making me shrug.

"Taking a ride, anything but shopping. "

"With what car?" She countered back causing my hand to lean behind me and grip the black keychain.

Soon my hand lifted up the set of keys letting them jingle loudly.

Lauren shook her head with a small laugh as Ella continued to stare.

"I just called Jake and he was all for the idea"

Ella shook her head at my words as Jess relaxed more against the couch.

" Of course he was, that man would give you whatever you want no matter what." Sammi laughed out causing me to shrug and nod shortly after. It

was very true after all, as long as it was all legal that is Jake never says no to me, never.

"aww, but I was excited to bring you two shopping." Lauren sighed out making me chuckle and point between me and Jess as Ella walked closer to where we all were.

"We would both be miserable and you know that."

Ella sighed my way before glancing at Jessica.

"She's not forcing you is she?" She asked making me roll my eyes even though she didn't see me.

Immediately Jess shot her a reassuring smile and shook her head no making the others glance at her.

I understood why they all were asking her, after all before an hour ago she was avoiding me for the past week and now here she was willingly going out with me.

Something that even shocked me slightly.

"Nope, I want to go"

Suddenly Ella sighed out in defeat as I stared at her again waiting for those words I needed.

"Fine but please, be safe, don't do anything stupid around her. Ashley will kill me"

At those words I jumped up from my seat and lunged at my cousins Fiancé embracing her in a big hug while nodding excitedly.

"Thank you and I'll only go 85 in a 25 its ok!" I rushed out causing Jess to burst into laughter but Ella to groan as I pulled away suddenly realizing my pills.

I bolted passed Lauren and down towards the brightly lit kitchen making the girls laugh more.

" What are you doing doors the other way?!" She called out right as I picked up the last two pills I needed.

"Taking my last round of pills so I don't get Anxiety over a bird flying by and crash the car!" I hollered out popping the two white pills into my mouth and taking a swig of water.

Ella groaned loud enough to hear from where I stood making me laugh and pat my pockets making sure I had everything.

" Oh I don't even want to think about what is going to happen. Jess you are in charge and I'd never thought I'd have to tell you that." She said leaving a small moment of silence to occur then a chorus of laughter to erupt.

" GEE THANKS!" I yelled from my way sprinting back through the doors but as I screamed it, so did jess with almost the same tone of voice.

Hmm, maybe we do make A great team.

I soon found myself in the living room again and paused slightly to point a finger at Jess who was smirking my way.

" Copy cat, lets go we got places to be!" I exclaimed making Sammi shake her head while my feet carried me past all of the girls and down the hall to the front door.

Normally it would take me awhile to warm up to certain people, but strangely with the guys and girls it was easy. It could've been the fact that I have met them before, or how nice they all are.

Either way i knew i gained a great group of people in my life and I was thankful.

" Text me later, be careful missy!" " Don't tell me what to do women!" I yelled back to Ella finally stepping out of the house and walking fast to Jake's beautiful SUV.

Jess's laugh was the last thing I heard before I unlocked the black car immediately pulling the door open with a smile. I climbed into the nice clean car wasting no time to turn on the engine to which the engine roared to life.

A few moments passed before I became impatient with how slow jess was going so I let my hand lay on the horn just as she was walking out the door making her smile and shake her head shutting the door behind her.

My actions caused her to pick up into a run over to the running car while I turned down the music volume to Which Jakes Misfits CD was playing.

Right as I plugged in the aux cord to hook up my phone Jess popped the door open and slid in.

"So where to?" She asked smoothly buckling her seat belt as I pulled out my phone.

I gave her a shrug still concentrating on plugging in my phone and unlocking it to put on some music.

I noticed I had a text message that I obviously got last night after I fell asleep so knew it wasn't jake or Ella. My parents usually called me to check in so it must've been someone from back in Boston.

And while some people that had my number I actually wanted to talk to, there were the ones that I didn't want to.

Suddenly I noticed Jess had asked a question so as I clicked on my messages. I answered her.

"Food?"

"Only if it's chipotle"

At her words my face lit up at the best place to ever exist.

"You just keep getting better Purdy." I commented making her laugh and from what I could see relax more into the seat as I finally saw the number. I was right, i always was.

Even though I was miles away, i couldn't escape my past. But, right now I could.

Without hesitation I clicked the home button not responding to the text and quickly scrolled through my long list of songs to play.

Once I found the song I wanted I clicked on it , the starting intro to Point/ Counterpoint by my childhood band Streetlight Manifesto began to play.

This band was something that Colin got me into when I was only like 7 years old and was a connection to him no matter where he was since besides BVB, this was his favorite band.

As I pulled the car into reverse and backed out of the driveway swiftly and onto the vacant street, Jess shot her head over to look at me, I glanced back at her knowing how no one barely knows this band and since they were SKA everyone thought they were weird but I loved it.

"I know you probably won't know this band but-"

Before I could even finish my sentence she started to sing along to the lyrics Tom was soothing out making me advert my attention from the road to her.

I couldn't help but smile at how excited and shocked I was. I couldn't believe she knew this song, I couldn't believe how alike we actually were and suddenly I knew one thing, she was the start of my new life.

" This is official you're my new best friend" I laughed out just turning out of Jakes street and onto the main road.

Jess said no words and instead leaned forward and turned the volume up to max volume as the chorus started up. Instantly not caring I started to sing out the song loudly, Jess doing the same causing my smile to widen.

As I accelerated down the street my worries and thoughts of my old life started to fade away as I glanced over towards my new friend, someone I didn't have to change for and I knew would become my best friend.

So far, this move was better than I'd ever thought it would be.
