Remembering The Pain - And Learning To Heal
Leaving the Hospital
The next morning, I walked Ash to the front desk to get information and medicine. The doctor said that if he applies the cream to his neck and arm, and he takes his medicine for 2 weeks the wounds will heal. Everything that was told to us I was totally on board with... except for one thing.
"Yes, and Ashley needs to keep his heart beat down for a week. So no running or other vigorous excercise, no kissing, sex, even try not to get angry. Ok?" I almost laughed at the not getting angry part, because that's exactly what he started to do when the doctor said no kissing.
"Bu-" He started to argue with the doctor but I cut him off.
"Yes doctor." I said through gritted teeth. I wasn't too happy about the rules either. "Is there anything else you'd like to tell us?"
"No. I just need you to fill out this paperwork and the hospital bills will be mailed to you. Have a nice day." He handed us a clipboard with like, 50 pieces of paper on it, and left. Leaving us with that one nurse...
"I'm sorry about yesterday." She whispered looking at the ground. "I-I should have knocked it-"
"It's fine." Ashley grumbled. "Now if you could just leave us to fill this out?" The nurse looked kind of scared as she scrambled away. I took Ash's hand and we moved to one of the chairs in the main lobby.
"You only ruined my first, and last kiss with Andy for the next week." He mumbled. I couldn't help but smile that he was so upset about the kissing thing.
"If you don't get your heart rate up, we can still kiss a little!" I suggested hopefully.
"No. Wouldn't work. The first time our lips brushed my heart beat went through the roof!" He waved his arm in the air to emphasize his point. I couldn't help but laugh at him as I finished the paperwork and handed it to the mousey nurse.
"G-Goodbye. H-Have a nice day." She called after us. Dang. If she's this shaken up about a kiss, then she really shouldn't be working in a hospital!
