Chapter 32


Raven's POV

We step into the recording room and Craig is waiting for us. He shakes my hand and gives me a friendly smile, and I return it. “Good morning, everyone. Raven, I must say you and these ladies are incredibly talented. I've given your demo CD a listen and it's fantastic. What I'd like to see from you is how you perform for an audience.” Just as he says this, Kellin and the rest of Sleeping With Sirens steps through the door. Craig nods to them and turns back to us. “Seems like you've got a fanbase already! Let's see you girls perform and then we'll talk.” I can't stop smiling as he talks to us. I nod enthusiastically and us girls head to sound booth and set up.

Andy and the guys, Falling In Reverse, and Sleeping With Sirens are all here to support us and they take a seat around the sound booth, quietly watching us. I plug in my amplifier and then plug in my guitar and begin tuning it. Scarlet has her drum kit down to a fine science and has it almost put together already. Gemma has her guitar plugged in and so does Emerson, and when I turn to Jenae she gives me a nod to let me know she's ready. I face the glass where I can see the 'RECORDING' light right above our audience. Craig pushes a button and we can hear him through our headphones. “Are you ladies ready?”

I give him a nod and the light turns on just as my intro to “Here's To Never Growing Up' starts. We start doing our thing and it feel so natural, like this is exactly where we are supposed to be. I sing through the microphone as if I'm on a stage in front of thousands and I know the girls are performing the same. I can see Andy and everyone else nodding their heads to the beat and easily following along. I steal a few glances over at Craig and he looks more than pleased with how we are doing which makes me smile in turn.

As our first song finishes, I see the light go off and we can all rest easy. We wait momentarily until we can hear Craig through our headphones. “Fantastic first track, girls. Go ahead and set up for your second song and let's do a run through of that.” Without saying a word to any of the others, I quickly make sure my guitar is in tune and I turn my floor pedals on and switch my amplifier's settings over to what I need for our song 'Rock N' Roll'. We put our headphones back on and the light comes on.

Before I know it our second song is done and I can see everyone on the other side of the glass cheering and giving us thumbs up and the like. We all switch settings for our last song and before the light comes on, I tell Craig to tell Jacky that this song was dedicated to him from Gemma and the rest of us, but mostly her. I see her blush madly when Jacky smiles and winks at her. Our next song 'Smile' starts and the words flow naturally just as before. When it finishes Jacky walks into the sound booth and gives Gemma a hug and a sweet kiss before telling her thank you and that our song was bad-ass.

Everyone else floods into the room after that and the guys find their girlfriends. I find Andy among the crowd and he embraces me in a hug. “I had no idea you were this talented. Why didn't you say anything?” He asked. I shrug my shoulders and blush. “I never thought that it would get me anywhere, but that was before I thought I'd ever be engaged to a rock star.” He smiles at me and leans down to kiss me.

Jinxx's POV


I watch the crowd tell the girls congratulations on doing their three songs and I watch as Craig talks to a few of the engineers. What everyone doesn't know is that Raven and I have been working on a side project since she was released from the hospital. She wrote a song and had no music to go with it, so she ran it by me and I instantly fell in love with it. The perfect idea came to me as I read her lyrics, and I knew exactly what this song needed, a violin.

I ended up spending about a month and a half writing and perfecting the parts of this song and we practiced it the best we could on my home studio. I talked to Craig about it and he is going to let her perform it for Andy right now in front of him and everyone for the first time. After all, she did write the song about him. I head over and tap her on the shoulder and she turns to face me. “Ready for this?” I ask her. She nods and smiles. “Let's do this!” She turns back to Andy and explains what's happening.

While everyone leaves the booth I hook up my violin and rosin up the bow and tune it before playing a few warm up scales. I let her know that I am ready when she is and she gives me the okay before putting her headphones on and telling Craig we were ready. I glance up through the glass and see Andy paying his full attention to Raven. I know this will absolutely blow him away.


Raven's POV


This is it. My defining moment outside of the band is happening right now. Jinxx and I have been busting our asses working on this song so I could show it to Andy one day when I thought it was ready. I never dreamed that it would be on the same day that I go to see about getting my band signed to a label. Jinxx taps me on the shoulder to ask if I'm ready for this and even though I'm shaking in my boots, I nod and smile at him. “Let's do this!”

Turning to Andy, I take a deep breath and look at him. “I have a surprise for you. I wrote you a song, and I finished it with some help from Jinxx. We are going to perform it for you right now.” I tell him. I see the look on his face and I honestly can't tell if it's shock or excitement, or perhaps a mixture of both. All I know is that I need to do this right now before I have a chance to change my mind and back out. I quickly usher Andy out of the room and grab my lyrics and place my headphones back on my head. When I look back at Jinxx, I see that he is ready and he gives me the nod to start.

The sound effect of a wind-up jewelery box starts in the beginning and I begin to sing the words just as I practiced. A short time after, Jinxx on the violin starts in and I can really feel the passion building and before I know it, I'm giving it my all and singing my heart out to Andy.
