Land Of The Lost

Lynx Pov:

I stared at F.E.A.R in shock. Even though I knew that he was probably alive, I didn’t want to believe it. As soon as I went to reach for my blades, the alarm bells went off. The other watch towers must have seen him, at least CC and I wouldn’t have to split up to get the other guys. I drew both my blades and waited, I knew if I rushed into a fight with him I’d end up dead.

“It’s almost upsetting how rude you’re being Lynnette. I thought I raised you better than that.” I glared at him and he smirked.

“You raised me to be a killer, something you’ll probably regret soon enough.” I risked a glance behind us when I heard people coming up behind us.

“About time the guys got here, I don’t know how long we’d be standing here, trying not to get ourselves killed if they took any longer.” I turned my attention back to F.E.A.R, and glared at him. I felt the electricity build up as I looked at him. He didn’t deserve to live, and I wanted to be the one to kill him.

“How long has he been here for?” Jake asked as he stood next to me.

“I don’t know. I think he only just got here.”

“Let’s see if we can push him back, at least get him out of the town.” The six of us advanced on F.E.A.R, all of our weapons drawn. I knew something was off with how he more than willingly retreated from the town. I let the electricity spark off of my blades as I barely kept myself from charging him. “Lynnette, you are not to attack on your own. Follow Jinxx or Ashley’s lead, but do not make the first move, understood?”

“Yes sir.” I took orders far too well, and went to stand next to Jinxx. I brushed my hand against his arm and raised my blades. “Magic attacks first right?”

“Usually, we’ll see what Andy plans; Ash and I follow his lead.” I nodded and felt the energy build up almost to a breaking point. “Just know, I’ll end up unleashing this soon, and when I do the back lash is going to be pretty bad.”

“Just try to hold it for as long as you can.” I looked at Jinxx’s sword and smiled a bit when I saw the faint flicker of flames dancing along the blade. “It’s not as easy as we make it look, and it takes a toll on the body. Just release it whenever you feel you need to.”

“Why don’t you two release it at the same time? Cause more damage that way?” Ash flipped his sword before looking at us like his idea was obvious.

“And risk accidentally killing one of the others?” Jinxx looked over at Andy briefly and nodded. “Lynx, release your magic, don’t worry about anything.” I didn’t need to be told twice, I released all of the built up energy; and five lightning bolts struck where F.E.A.R was, at the same time as a vortex of fire surrounded him. We waited for the smoke to clear before Andy would make the next move. I knew that the fight was nowhere near over.

I tightened my hold on my blades and shook with anticipation. I wanted to fight, and the waiting was almost too much. Well over twenty shadow demons appeared from the smoke, all of them were elite demons. “Shit…we’re not going to win this easily.”

“No, I don’t expect we will.” I looked to my other side and stared at Kotta in shock.

“What…?”

“You don’t think they guys are the only ones ready to fight do you? Sammi, Ella, Juliet and Melody are waiting for Andy’s signal. You know I can’t use a crossbow, so I'm out here, fighting at your side like the old days.” Without waiting for any kind of signal, I went against what Andy told me just minutes ago; and like when we fought together, Kotta stayed at my side as we charged the closest of the demons. I guess the guys got sick of waiting when fire erupted around a few other demons.

Kotta and I slipped into a familiar pattern, where we’d actually use each other and not just our blades. She grabbed my arm and practically threw me at a demon that was fighting Ash. I stabbed the demon from behind where its heart would be, killing it. I dashed across the sand and pushed a demon at Kotta whose blade instantly severed its head from its body.

I noticed that my ‘father’ had yet to make an actual move as per usual. Instead he just continued to summon demons. If we killed one, two more would take its place. I started using magic instead of just relying on strength, and quickly discovered that I could kill more than one quickly and easily. I stabbed into the chest of one demon, and released a wave of electricity, killing three others as well.

“Lynnette, I have to admit you’ve gotten stronger. But do you really think you can go against everything you’ve ever known?” I glared at F.E.A.R but tried to ignore him. He had a way of getting under someone’s skin and causing them to lose focus. He had pulled that on me when I was younger. When he noticed that overall, I was completely ignoring him, he threw a black wave of magic at Jinxx. I ran as fast as I could to where Jinxx was, and knocked him to the ground, taking the full blow.

My vision went black for a few moments, before returning slowly. I was in so much pain, having my ribs shattered or having Rohans’ sword thrown through my side was nothing compared to this. “Lynx! Baby, look at me!” I looked up at Jinxx and tried to move. “No, don’t move.” He held his hands over my chest and instantly, I could feel the warmth of the white healing magic.

“I-I’m okay love…” I pushed myself into a sitting position and tried standing, only to fall back down.

“Easy, don’t rush it.” Jinxx helped me stand, and helped balance me. I looked around at the others who were keeping the shadow demons off of us.

“So that’s what this is all about? That pathetic rebel scum brainwashed you didn’t he?!” Jinxx and I looked at F.E.A.R in anger. “Well, I can fix that. You’ll want to kill him slowly, you’ll be mine again you worthless piece of shit!” He aimed his hand at me, said something in a language I couldn’t understand and just seconds later, my head felt as if it was about to explode. I screamed in pain, and sank to my knees gripping the sides of my head. I stared at the off white sand as every memory I had that had anything to do with the guys was slowly destroyed. At the same time, I could feel a block go up around my magic. I was thankful that I had learned to use it after I had met Jinxx, and wouldn’t be able to use it against him.

When the pain finally subsided, I looked up at the people around me. I didn’t know any of them, except for my father. For a moment I was overcome with fear, but quickly pushed it to the back of my mind. The battle field was no place for stupid emotions. I gripped one of my two blades, stood up slowly and lashed out at the closest person. He had good reflexes, almost as if he expected this; but I was much faster. I feigned an attack to the left and slid the blade of my dagger across the man’s stomach and chest. As I was about to go for the killing blow, I was knocked to the side. I glared up at the man who pushed me to the ground, and lashed out at him.

“That’s enough Lynnette. We’ve finished what we’ve come for. Let us return home.”

“Let me kill one of them father. The pathetic rebels need to learn who is in charge.” I glared at the man who pushed me to the side and threw one of my daggers at him before bolting past him at the man I had cut. I sank my dagger into the man’s stomach right before I was pulled off of him and thrown across the ‘battle field’ landing at my father’s feet.

“You’ve done enough my sweet. Let us leave.” He looked right at the rebels who were now gathered around their injured friend. “We are not interested in the possibility of defeat. Not within the silence of a deserted ally, nor the clamor of a crowded street. F.E.A.R. cannot be vanquished, we cannot be destroyed. F.E.A.R. will rise up again and control the masses, take back the power and crush the insurgent hoard. As war fades in to the distant memories of enlightened pigs and open wounds, The Rebels will begin to perish - one by one, they should. Feel the fear of dying young, not ignore the chance to scream. Lie awake at night in terror, admitting F.E.A.R. will return to glory and the story of Rebels who set out to conquer will finish in blood.” I felt the familiar cloud of black smoke surround me as my father transported us from the battle field to where the main compound was.

Jinxx Pov:
I couldn’t believe it. Lynx had turned on us, bus something wasn’t quite right. When she looked at me, there was absolutely no recognition. That bastard must have done something to her. I can’t believe that I just lost the only person I ever truly loved. This hellish land had taken so much from us, and now had just claimed my beloved. I would get her back, even if I had to die in the process, Lynx would be back where she belonged, at my side in the Legion of the Black.

Notes

So...I'm crying so fucking hard. It took me all day to write this, between crying and ordering myself to suck it up. This is the first story I've ever written on my own, with absolutely no feedback from anyone I know personally, it's also the first I've ever finished. I feel like a part of my heart has just shattered by finishing this. But as promised, there will be a book 2. Which I will start as soon as I stop being such a pansy assed bitch and stop fucking crying haha. Truthfully credit goes to @Insertsarcasmhere they gave me the idea, and it just happened to work as the ending for this story. And without them I probably wouldn't have been able to come up with such an amazing idea and plot for book 2.
Thanks to all of you you stuck with this since I first started writing it on 1/1/14 (Legit new years day haha). I never would have continued writing this story without all of your support. I will update this one final time when I put up the first chapter of the next installment.
