Land Of The Lost

Lynnette POV:

A few days after Jinxx deemed me healthy enough, I decided to walk the perimeter of the town.Even though Jinxx, the town’s only real medic said I was fit for light training, the guys wouldn’t let me join in. Sighing, I made my way to the lookout post in one of the towers and leaned against one of the pillars. Things had been quiet since the fight with the shadow demons, it was uncomfortable. It wasn’t right, I knew that F.E.A.R was going to pull something and none of the guys were paying enough attention to what I said I felt.

I glared into the desert and kicked the half wall in the tower. “It’s not fair, I’m not fucking weak!” As I kicked the wall electricity sparked from my foot to the wood. It pissed me off to no end that they all started treating me as if I were some weak child. I was no longer limping, and yeah it did hurt to breathe after a while of walking since my rib wasn’t fully healed, but that didn’t mean shit. I made my way down the watch tower after about an hour and made my way to the small café.

I went over to an empty seat at the bar and sat down. As soon as the owner saw me she came over, smiling at me. “Hey Lynx, it’s been a while since you’ve been here. How are things?”

“Hey Clair, The guys are being mean and not letting me play with them.” I smiled back at her as she got me a drink. Clair was gorgeous; she had platinum blond hair and these eerie green eyes that seemed to glow when in the right light.

“What are we going to with them? Chance said he was thinking about joining the legion. What do you think?”

I smiled and sipped the drink, “Your son is old enough to make that decision himself. If he wants to fight against F.E.A.R then he should be able to. I’m sure that the guys won’t send him to the front lines any time soon.” Clair seemed to relax a bit as I tried to reassure her. It was true, the guys from what I’ve seen at least keep the new recruits on a strict training regime. I wasn’t worried about any of the new members; they weren’t in the group picked to go on the rescue mission.

I finished my drink and ran my hand instinctively over one of my blades as I set my glass back down. I glanced around me and stood up. I went towards the main gates and looked around before climbing up onto the wall that surrounded the town. I crouched down and let my gaze slowly go over the desert on the other side of the walls. I didn’t see anything, but that didn’t mean that nothing was there. The feeling of being watched got stronger the longer I stayed on the wall.I turned my attention to the town itself, slowly scanning the area around me for anyone.

I sighed and slid down from the wall and slowly walked along the wall. I got to the eastern gate which led to the cemetery. I slipped into the graveyard and walked along the paths silently finding an odd comfort in the solitary place. The feeling got stronger the farther in I went, some part of me knew that I should find one of the guys and tell them but another part of me wanted to find out what was going on. I stopped in the center of the cemetery and stared at the abnormally large shadow demon that was there. It was one of F.E.A.R’s personal guards. They were rarely seen in the main compound, leaving most people to believe that they were not a threat.

I personally had never seen one, but heard my fair share of stories from the General about what they did. And for the first time I felt true fear. I was scared that I was going to die the day I fought the other shadow demons, but that was nothing compared to this. I knew I was in danger, and no one was around to help me. “If I end up back in the hospital the guys are not going to ever let me go anywhere on my own.” I glared at the demon before I drew my twin blades, getting ready for another fight.

Notes

I have no idea how long this story is gonna be. I feel like it's close to the middle but I'm not really sure. There's gonna be a LOT of chapters to come, so I guess that's a plus haha. Hope you guys enjoyed this chap. I had fun writing it. You all are fucking amazing, stay awesome,
