Blurry Waters

I dragged the blade across my skin as the tears that were falling from eyes began to subside. The pain went away inside as the pain outside continued. The blood trickled from my legs as Austin busted through the door. The look on his face was so sad, I wish I never had to see it. But, I did. I fucked up. I was a monster, I was a monster and It took me this long to realize it. The look still hasn't left my best friend's face, this time there were tears added to it. I looked up at his pained and concerned face but the words were stuck in my throat. I looked down at the blood soaked blades that were in my hand and on the bed. Then, I looked at my legs. The tears began again because I realized I had not only hurt myself, but the most important person to me. The tears didn't stop coming and at this point, we were both bawling.

"Aubrey.. Why didn't you just come to me?" Austin said but the words in my throat were stuck. I was hurt, and my legs began to sting. He looked at me, so hopeful.

"Please, just give me something.." I looked at him with the tears still falling, now as my response came, even harder.

"I was so tired of all of it. The depression consumed me. And my mom.. She's gone.. It's really hitting me that she's gone." The tears never stopped coming that night, even after I got cleaned up.

I was laying on the couch, the tears just stopped as Jake and Conner walked into the living room. My head still on Austin's chest I began to talk to my brothers. Oh how I missed this.
