"daddy please don't! I'm sorry I'll be a good girl please!" I heard my best friend screaming. You could hear her crys from anywhere in the neighborhood. But the fact that I lived next door to her and that my window was right next to her open one made the screams even louder. This wasn't a rare occurrence but each day the screaming got louder and louder. Not just from her but from her father too, she hated him and so did just about everyone else. He was an abusive drug addicted Asshole. After almost an hour her screaming stopped and I heard him get in to his car and leave. I run out of the house as soon as he's gone and I'm outside of her bedroom door in less then 30 seconds. I quickly but carefully enter the room I walk over to the small girl quivering in the corner. I kneel down and gently touch her shoulder, she flinches. When she looks up at me she immediately wraps her arms around me. I gently sit down and pull her in to my lap telling her that everything was going to be ok. After about 20 minutes she finally calms down I carefully carry her to the bathroom and set her on the counter. I start to wipe the blood from her face, being very careful not to hit where he tried to sow her mouth shut last week. I ask her if it hurts she shakes her head no like always. When I'm done I take her back to her room and lay her on her bed. I hear a car door slam in front of the house so I quickly kiss her forehead and go to climb out the window, but she grabs my hand and whispers " I love you Andy" " I love you to Salem" I whisper back. I quickly climb out the window and down the side of the house. As I come around the corner of my house I see her Salems dad walk in to their house and I think to myself “ one say he's gonna fucking kill her".
