Angels and Saviors and Whatnot

After a few days of sneaking around my father and Stephanie, Andy, Sandra, the guys and myself were becoming inseparable. We would go everywhere together, when my father wasn't home. Andy and Ashley were becoming best friends despite the fact that Ashley had the hots for me.

One day, we were at my house and I heard Andy and Ashley singing the song that has yet to be named downstairs. I walked out into hallway to hear a little better and I smiled. Their voices blended so well together. And then I heard a new verse that went something like;

So here's my song I wrote in time
When it was needed
Through pain of heart or loss of mind
Your burdens lifted
You aren't alone just know that I
Can't save our hearts tonight

"Andy, that sounded amazing," I heard Ashley saying.

"Thanks Ash, your voice sounded really good."

"Thanks man," Ashley replied.

I walked downstairs a little ways and listened as Jinxx and Sandy added in what they thought should go where.

"Ashley, maybe we could try this," Andy said. I could see them now but none of them noticed me.

"You sure?" Ashley asked. Andy put a hand on Ashley's shoulder, as to say 'Dude, I got this'. I walked fully down stairs and raised my arms up above my head.

"I ship Andley." I said, simply. 4 pairs of eyes focused on me as I entered the room.

"Andley?" Jinxx questioned.

"Andy and Ashley. I ship them harder than FedEx." I said with a smile. Andy smiled a little and got up from his spot on the couch. He walked over to me and hugged me really quick, whispering, "You're the only one for me."

"No mushy gushies, mister." I wriggled out of his hug and sat down on the couch smirking at Andy. Ashley, once again, tried to flirt.

"Hey baby, you sure you don't want this?"

"Positive," I said, scooting away from him, "baby."

Andy cleared his throat and sat down in between Ashley and I. Just then, Jake came crashing through my front door.

"Guys, come to the hospital with me. Now." he said, and raced back out the door. We didn't even say anything or question it, we just rushed out of my house and piled into Jake's Jeep. Some people (Me and Sandy) sitting on other people's laps (Andy and Ashley). I was in Andy's lap and Sandra was in Ashley's lap. We rode for a little while and arrived at the hospital in about 20 minutes.

"Jake, what's wrong?" Jinxx asked.

"My mom...she was in a car accident," he said, hurrying to the elevator and tapping his foot as he waited for one to arrive. We heard one -Ding!-, and we all filed inside.

"Do you know how it happened?" Andy questioned, while Jake pushed a button.

"All I know is that she was T-boned on the driver's side and the doctor's said that she might not make it, she's in surgery, so I went home and got you guys." Jake explained, tears threatening to spill over. He held it together and when the doors opened he practically ran down the hall, turning this way and that, until we arrived at a waiting room.

"They told me to wait here," Jake said, wiping away some tears that dared to fall.

We all sat down as Jake paced back and forth, earning some stares from a few people. Nobody dared to say anything, we were all worried for Jake.

After about an hour of watching Jake pace, a doctor came in with a clipboard, and said, "Mr. Pitts?" Jake looked up from the floor and walked over to the doctor. We all stayed put and watched as Jake and the doctor talked quietly.

Then, out of nowhere, he dropped to his knees and buried his face in his hands. Jinxx ran over to him and we all just stared as he squatted and rubbed Jake's back, trying to get him to stop crying. The four of us remaining walked over to where the small crowd was and I asked the doctor what happened. He pulled me aside from the group and looked into my eyes.

"Jake's mother passed away on the operating table. They tried everything they could but they couldn't save her."

I gasped and put a hand over my agape mouth. I suddenly got an idea.

"Doctor, what was her name? Mrs. Pitts'?"

"Carolyn."

"Thank you sir." I rushed over to Andy and pulled him away from Jake long enough to tell him,

"Name the song Carolyn."

"What?"

"That song you're working on? Name it Carolyn. C-A-R-O-L-Y-N."

"Alli, why Carolyn?"

I sighed and said quietly, trying not to upset Jake anymore than he already was "His mother's name was Carolyn."

Andy's mouth made an 'O' shape and he sat down in a chair with his face in his hands. The doctor walked over to Jake and helped him up, patting him on the back, saying "I'm so sorry for your loss," while Jake wept and wept on Jinxx's shoulder.

The doctor eventually went back to his work station while we peeled Jake off of Jinxx and walked him down the hallway. All we could do in the moment was mourn for Jake and walk quietly down the hallway with a couple sniffles and sobs from Jake. We got into the elevator and when we got out we walked Jake to his car.

"Do you want me to drive?" Jinxx asked.

"Yes...please," Jake replied in between sniffles.

We all piled into the car again and drove to my house. We got out of the car and walked slowly into my house, making sure Jake wasn't going to fall over from crying so much. We all got inside and let Jake sit on the couch, as we all got settled into our spots in the living room.

"Jake," I started, breaking the silence, "Andy has something to tell you."

The sobbing mess picked his head up and looked at Andy with red puffy eyes.

"Jake, we've decided to name the song we've been working on. We're calling it Carolyn."

He smiled for the first time in the past hour and tackled Andy in a hug.

"This means so much to me, thank you, she's going to love it when she hears the whole thing from heaven," he said, still sniffling.

"Glad we could help," Andy said with a smile.
