Fight Against All Odds

Chapter 5

Five days later there was no sign, no evidence, that Andy Biersack had talked to me.

Andy freaking Biersack. The guy that so many of my friends had been obsessed with. I could almost hear their shouts of "Oh my gawd Andy Six is so hot". I would just laugh to myself and wonder why they still called him that even though he changed his name back to "Biersack".

Of course I thought he was pretty hot too. But I didn't go around like an over-obsessed fangirl saying stuff like that. After all I didn't even know what he looked like until a month after I discovered Black Veil Brides on Pandora. I had fallen in love with his music. Not with him.

He said something about an underground civilization. The only way I could interpret that was a way out of the miserable mess of gray.

Then again. It was probably a stupid dream. One that will never come true.

I sat at my desk, sewing a hole in some guy's shirt. Work seemed to get longer and longer. The hours went from eight hours a day to twelve. I quietly hummed Helena by My Chemical Romance, thinking no one would hear.

"Big mistake Miss Jones."

My hand slipped from sewing and I winced as I accidentally stabbed myself with the needle causing me to bite down on my lip hard. I tasted blood.

"D- Dr. Good?" I whimpered. Crap how was I so careless?

"Music is not good for your brain Miss Jones," he said. Staring at me with his cold lifeless eyes.

"I-I..."

Come with me to my office Miss Jones."

What other choice did I have? I could either go to his office or go to jail...or worse. Ha even going to his office I was still going to jail...or worse. I got up from my chair silently and followed him through the maze of offices to his office. It was quite big.

He closed the door behind him at sat behind his gray desk. His eyes behind his way too big glasses stared at me coldly.

He motioned to a chair in front of his desk. "Sit Miss Jones," he said.

I sat in the chair.

"Now, what song were you humming?" He asked, mock understanding in his voice.

I tried to think of an innocent song. "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," I answered back nervously. I could feel my iPod in my pocket. I was dead if he found it.

"Really because it didn't sound like it."

"I-I..."

"Look Miss Jones I shall not throw you in jail as I should or make you pay me all your money if you agree to do something for me."

I wasn't sure whether to be happy or scared.

"And...w-what is that?" I answered.

"I have a new vaccination that I would like to test on you to see if your brain will be altered just like the rest of civilization. Than everyone shall live in peace!" He said, a grin across his face, "Either that, or you will be thrown in jail, and will most likely die. Your choice."

I just stared. My body trembled in fear.

"It's a yes or no question Miss Jones."

"I-I'll do it!" I said, my voice cracking from trying not to cry. I felt a tear fall down my face.

"Excellent!" He said, "who would've thought your mistake would lead to a better society.

"M-may I leave now?" I whimpered.

"You shall return here everyday after work starting today. You may return to your job. And don't let me catch you humming again or I won't go so easy on you!"

I practically ran out of the office and back to my desk. I felt like throwing up.

I watched the clock as the last seconds of work ticked by.

3...2....1

I heard the sound of people silently rising from their desks and exiting the building. I felt dread in my stomach as I walked to Dr. Good's office.

I stood at his door and knocked.

"Come in," I heard him say from inside.

Looking down in fear I opened the door and stepped inside the room. I looked up and bit my lip nervously.

"Miss Jones take a seat."

I lowered myself into the same chair as before, trembling in fear. This could be my last moments of my free life if the drug works.

"Relax Miss Jones! Think of all the good you'll be doing for society!" I felt sick from his enthusiasm. I remained silent.

He was wearing a lab coat and gloves, the kind doctors wore during surgery. He walked over to a cabinet and pulled out a giant needle. He filled it with a large amount of a dark purple liquid. I bit back a scream.

I didn't want to become one of those lifeless people.

He walked over to me and held the needle over my arm.

"No....please....no!" I said as he plunged it into my arm.

My vision became blurry and pain shot through my body. It felt like someone had cut my body all up then poured rubbing alcohol all over me. I screamed.

I screamed and screamed until my voice became hoarse. All I could think about was the pain. JUST KILL ME!!!!! My mind screamed.

Then it was gone. My vision went back to normal. My body was shaking violently though. I then realized I was still a person and not a zombie.

"Pity it didn't work," he said, frowning.

All I could do was stare in fear.

"You will come back tomorrow and I shall use a different vaccination on you. Understand?"

I nodded, tears falling down my face.

"You are excused."

I didn't have to be told twice. I ran from his office and out the building. I crossed the alley and ran up the fire escape to my room. I fell on my bed and sobbed, my tears quickly soaking the pillow.

"No! No! No!" I yelled into the pillow stupidly. What else was I supposed to say?"

"No..." I whispered before falling asleep.

I stared at the sleeping girl, desperately wanting to open the window and hug her until she was ok again. I would save her. I would save her. I stared at her face which was red from crying. What had caused her to cry like that?

"Hang in there Grace," I whispered.

Notes

Well we have a savior...but where is he? Comments?

Comments

I am crying. i cant believe andy almost died. I often get fanfiction confused with real life, and since andy was a real person rather than just a character, it was like he really died to me. that was a sick joke >:(
