Fight Against All Odds
Chapter 22
The day of the mission came all too quickly. I wasn't as depressed as usual but I couldn't deny I hadn't kept my promise. The blade had drawn blood twice more.
The scars burned on my arm as I resisted the temptation to scratch them.
All members of the mission were standing in one of the training rooms. A huge stage was set up in the center. Apparently, before each mission, an inspiring song was played to get our hopes up and our desire to defeat the Gray.
Funnily enough it was Black Veil Brides who were playing the song, although I didn't know which song they picked.
The lights were dimmed, and I held on to Amy's hand tightly, knowing this could very well be the last time we talk to each other. For some unknown reason I had no fear of death. I wanted to die for this cause. I would do whatever it took to rid the world of the Gray.
The lights dimmed even more and guitars began to play from behind the curtain. The crowd grew silent, and I listened to the intro of the song I had heard hundreds of times before.
The guitars suddenly picked up and the curtain fell, revealing five of my saviors, the people who had kept me safe from myself and others. The crowd screamed and cheered, jumping to the music, while I stared at the people I had come to love.
And one broke my heart. He began to sing.
"Tear down the cross
Splinters and shards remembered
This trojan horse
Rode to the land we enter
We'll burn away
And free and fallen brothers
From shackles made of steel
And bones of soldiers
Yeah!"
The crowd cheered and sang along. I sang the chorus proudly and Amy sang next to me.
"Let shadows die
So I can feel alive
The church of lies
Can't tell me what is right
Our little victories and desires won't live on
Let shadows die
So I can feel alive
I Feel alive
I feel alive, yeah
In fear and faith (In fear and faith)
The candles light our freedom
By tainted night
We live this war of wisdom
The streets are stained
With blood that ran their kingdom
And feed the beast
that lies beneath our treason"
I had never noticed how beautiful his voice was.
"Let shadows die
So I can feel alive
The church of lies
Can't tell me what is right
Our little victories and desires won't live on
Let shadows die
So I can feel alive
I Feel alive"
William Control stepped out from the shadows, dressed in gray.
"The Gray will round up these rebels!
These deviates! These so called wild ones!
We'll lecture the streets with their bones!
And annihilate the dangerous and obtuse ideas poisoning your children!
Endangering your freedom!
Giving rise to the destruction
Of the benevolent future we have prepared for you!
You belong in the shadows!
The shadows are where you will be made safe!
Do not disobey!" He almost screamed, and the crowd through insults at him, well not at him, but the character he portrayed.
Andy began to sing again.
"Let shadows die
So I can feel alive
A church of lies
Can't tell me what is right
Our little victories and desires won't live on
Let shadows die
So I can feel alive
I Feel alive
(I feel alive)"
Andy backed away from the mic for a second, observing the crowds reaction, which was made up of screaming and cheering. The rest of the band were clapping and then they all hugged each other. We in the crowd were suddenly all holding hands. No matter if we were band members, or regular people we were all equal. All hate was gone. We were all one spirit. The spirit of the rebel. Andy took the mic.
He cleared his throat.
"I've done so many things I regret, and I will probably never be forgiven," Andy began.
The crowd listened closely.
"I'm sure every one of you has made a mistake."
People nodded their heads.
"TODAY WE WILL FORGET THESE MISTAKES!! TODAY WE ARE ONE MIND. WE ARE THE REBELS AND NO MATTER IF WE COME HOME OR NOT TONIGHT WILL BE REMEMBERED!!!" Andy yelled into the mic. CC performed a drum solo in approval while the crowd went insane. I was about to cry.
"Let the games begin!" Jinxx laughed into his mic.
We flooded into the hallways and out the door. Since the original 20, 100 more people had been added to the mission.
We all walked to the 20 or so vans we'd be riding in. I got in one with Amy and a couple people I didn't recognize.
No one talked, but Amy was holding my hand so tightly it hurt.
A weird idea popped into my brain.
I closed my eyes and bowed my head.
"Umm...God. If you're there, just...help me." I said in my head quickly.
I looked up, blushing.
"Oh fuck it he's probably in the Gray's side anyways," I frowned.
We sat in silence as the van finally made it to a giant Gray building.
"The power has been successfully shut down and the doors have opened," a speaker over the radio transmitted, breaking the silence.
"Understood," the driver spoke into the radio. I squeezed Amy's hand for comfort.
"Alright as soon as I let you out, go inside and meet up with the rest of us," the van driver explained. We nodded our heads.
"Go!" The driver shouted, opening the doors. The van stopped. We stumbled out, and I felt the comfort of the protection of having a gun in my hand.
We sprinted to the entrance.
I felt a sharp pain in my neck.
I collapsed.

I love the story but it really triggered my emotions
