Hunted
Chapter 3
Kody sat outside her house with Jake and CC. She was trying to pull herself together. She hated feeling so helpless, but finding Jared like that had been a shock. She had no idea who could have done this, but she was definitely going to find out.
She looked up as Andy and Ash came out the door and headed toward them. He knelt down in front of her.
"I'm sorry you had to see that, baby girl." He said pulling her into a hug.
"We have to find who did this, Andy." She said as he pulled away.
"We will, baby girl. I promise." He said gently stroking her cheek.
It was then she noticed the bracelet in his other hand. She recognized it immediately. It was Juliet's. She had given it to Juliet on her last birthday.
"Where did you get that?" she asked as she took it from his hand.
"It was in the wound on Jared's stomach." Andy answered.
What did this mean? Had something happened to Juliet?
She looked up at him and opened her mouth to speak, but was interrupted by Ashley's phone indicating he had a text message. "Sorry." he said as he pulled his phone out to check it. He looked up a moment later. His face had gone pale. "Andy, you better look at this."
He walked over and handed Andy his phone. The text was a picture message with the caption Good luck finding her. The picture was of Juliet hanging by her arms from a tree. She was clearly dead. Her head was slumped backwards clearly showing the wound that crossed her throat. There was another wound on her stomach. An arrow was sticking out of her chest.
Kody looked up to meet Andy's eyes. They had turned wolfish. They were glowing. His body was shaking and it was clear he was trying not to lose control. He stood up and backed away from her. She knew he did that for her safety. If he lost control, he could easily hurt her or worse.
He closed his eyes and took a couple of deep breaths. When he opened them they were back to normal. He came back over and knelt in front of her again.
"I need you to call Pete and Jordan. If there's that much blood on her, they'll be able to find her easily."
Pete Wentz was the head vampire of the city. It was Pete she had made the treaty with. Jordan Witzigreuter was his right hand man. Both of them were close friends with her.
She pulled out her phone and dialed Pete's number. He answered almost immediately.
"Kody, what the hell is going on? I just found three of my guys dead. Whoever did this left a message for you." He said in a rush.
"Shit. I think you better get over here Pete. Jared's dead and by the looks of it, so is Juliet."
"Fuck. I'm on my way. I'm bringing Jordan with me. I'll be there soon."
Andy must have heard everything Pete said because he stood up and started pacing.
"What the fuck is going on?" He asked clearly agitated.
"I don't know, but I have a feeling this is only the beginning." She replied.
"Jesus Christ, I can smell the blood from here."
Andy stopped pacing and looked up as Pete and Jordan arrived. God bless vampire speed. Pete walked over to her and hugged her. He pulled back and handed her a piece of paper. She looked down at it and read what was written there. Tick Tock, little hunter. You die last.
She looked up and met Pete's eyes.
"It seems you've made an enemy, Kody." he said grimly.
"Then why doesn't he just come after me? Why does he have to bring you guys into it?"
"My guess is he wants to make you suffer first." Jordan said.
Kody sighed and set back down. This was fucked up. She had to find this guy.
"You're not alone in this, Kody. He's fucked with us all. He won't get away with that." Andy said as he sat down next to her.
"He's right, Kody. The guys he killed tonight were some of my best fighters. He's got to be good to get the best of them. You're going to need all the help you can get." Pete said.
"Come on." Andy said as he stood up. "We need to clean this up."
He reached down and helped Kody to her feet.
"I want you to go with Jake and wait for me. You're staying with me until this is over." Andy said to her
She nodded. She wasn't going to argue. He turned to Pete and Jordan.
"Can you guys help me find Juliet?" He asked
They both nodded.
"CC, Ash, I'm gonna leave you guys to clean this up."
Andy turned back to Kody.
"Stay safe until I get back." He said wrapping her in a hug.
"You too, Andy. I can't lose you too." She said burying her head in his chest.
He kissed the top of her head. "I'll be fine, baby girl. I promise."
With that he pulled away and walked over to Pete and Jordan. He gave them a nod before switching to wolf form. She watched him take off into the night. Pete and Jordan followed. She turned and followed Jake to his car silently hoping that he would come back safe.

This is good. It's a shame it's been abandoned.
