We're Setting Worlds On Fire

Andy looked down at the girl standing next to him and he could hardly believe his eyes. She was here-Lily was back and she was standing beside him knocking on the dressing room door lightly. She was so perfect standing there beside him-she was as she had been on the day that she died. Well, her hair was longer and she was meaner, but Andy loved her all the same.

He knew she still loved him-she had to. She wouldn’t be here if she didn’t and Andy could only laugh as she huffed that cute little huff, stomping her foot as the door didn’t open and Andy just reached out to twist the handle. Lily only rolled her eyes as she walked in to the room and stopped, placing her hands on her hips as she looked at the scene before her.

All of the guys were standing with their backs to the door and Lily could tell that they were all a little preoccupied with the shots that they were currently downing. She only shook her head-this was not the band she had left when she had died. They would never drink before a show…sure they would drink after but never before because they knew that it could possibly affect the way that they played.

Lily only tapped her boot clad foot against the floor and Andy smirked as he looked down at her. Her lips-those perfect lips-were pursed in a pinched scowl and her eyes were angry as she took in the group. Andy knew he better say something to them before Lily did because what she had to say probably wouldn’t be too nice.


“Hey guys…I brought someone back here I think you need to meet…” Andy said and Lily only smiled as she heard Ashley scoff and then watched as all four of them downed another shot. Looking at the clock that was hanging on the wall, both Andy and Lily realized that they had about fifteen minutes before it was time to get on the stage.

“Oh yeah? Another girl for you to bang later Andy? I see the student has surpassed the-“ Ashley stopped as he turned around and Lily only smirked at him, waving her hand back and forth slowly. He was looking at her, all of the color had left his face and he almost dropped the empty shot glass that was in his hands.

“What?!” CC shouted as Ashley just smacked him on the shoulder. Lily watched as the drummer turned around and his brown eyes grew huge as he took her in and realized who she was. Again Lily only waved at him, but then frowned as she felt Andy rest an arm around her shoulder; she shrugged him off and turned to look at him. ‘Stop that!’ her eyes seemed to be saying and Andy only pouted at her as he removed his arm.

“What’s going on-HOLY SHIT!” Jake said as he spun around and Lily only cracked a smile as she watched Jinxx finally turn around as well. There was a smashing sound as he had dropped his shot glass and soon all of them were looking down at the shattered pieces of glass that were littering the floor.


They all just stood there and finally Lily moved her eyes so that she was taking them all in. The four guys standing before her were all stage ready and Lily suddenly wondered if they had even thought about coming after Andy. She had watched their fight-she had seen how Ashley belittled not only her, but Andy in general and she couldn’t help but feel her blood boil at the sight of him. The other three-she knew that they were confused; almost as confused as Andy was about her death and the reasoning behind it.
Lily silently hoped that by the end of the night she would be able to explain as much as she could. She cleared her throat, smiling softly at all of them as they all just stared at her open mouthed. Andy only smirked as he rested his arm around her shoulders and once again Lily shrugged him off. ‘Don’t do that!’ her eyes seemed to say and once again Andy removed his arm and let it fall down to his side.


“Uh-hey guys…” Lily said. There was a soft bit of laughter in her voice and she watched as CC’s face moved from shock, to awe, to sorrowful and finally he seemed pleased to see her. Lily stepped forward and soon enough she found herself engulfed in those lanky arms of his.

“Oh my…is it really you Lily?” CC asked as he picked her up, holding her close and Lily only laughed as he let her down and then gripped her tightly on the arms as he looked down at her.

“It really is.” She said as Lily pulled away from CC and backed herself into a corner. She hugged herself tightly, her skinny arms wrapping around her frame and Lily couldn’t help but bite down on her lower lip. This was going to be harder than she had anticipated-she couldn’t not be happy to see these guys…they had grown in to her family.

“I can’t believe this! How?” Jinxx asked as he too walked over to her and hugged her quickly. Lily tried to not recoil back from his touch. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to see the guys-she just knew that she couldn’t get attached to them again. She had been sent down here to fix things and with some ideas running through her head she knew that the guys would probably end up hating her.

“Lily!” Jake laughed, breaking her train of thought as the guitarist ran over to her and gave her the most bone crushing hug she had ever experienced. It seemed like Andy wasn’t the only one who had missed her, even though he was the only who kept faith that she was still around and looking over them.

“More like why…” A low voice spoke from behind the group and they all slowly parted as Ashley stepped forward. Lily grit her teeth together, her jaw tightening as she was faced with the sole reason for why she had been thrown back down here. Ashley Purdy-the guy who had single handedly ruined everything in Andy that Lily had tried to build up.

“I don’t need to tell you why right now Ashley. All I need to do is help Andy get ready to get on that stage and perform for his fans.” Lily said, her voice sharp and dangerous sounding. Ashley only smirked at her as he rolled the shot glass around in his hands. Jake looked down at Lily, a sad look on his usually happy face.

“Didn’t…didn’t you miss us Lily?” Jake asked softly and Lily groaned. This-why was this the one question that they wanted to know. Not-how was Heaven? Or-what’s God’s favorite song?

“No. No I didn’t miss you Jake. Please-let me just get Andy ready so you guys can get out there…I promise we’ll talk about this more later tonight after the show.” Lily was pleading now, something she never thought she would have to do. Her blood boiled as she looked from face to face until her eyes landed on Ashley’s smirking visage.


She wanted to hit him-hard. But Lily knew that now was neither the time nor the place to engage with Ash. He only continued to smirk at her, rolling that stupid shot glass around in his hands as Lily only sneered at him and then turned to face Andy. God-he was looking at her with that stupid puppy dog grin again and Lily could only shake her head as she closed her eyes and held her hands out in front of her. She wasn’t touching him, but Andy shivered as he felt a cool mist flow over his body.

He looked down, his eyes growing wide as he watched his arms become covered in black paint, along with his chest and his hands. He felt the mist reach his face and Andy knew that his typical facial War Paint was being layered on his skin. Lily only smiled up at him as she opened her eyes and let her hands fall down to her sides.


“Whoa…” Someone said from behind her and Lily only smiled up at Andy, winking one lavender eye at him as she turned around and faced the guys. She wobbled slightly-using her Divine Powers on Earth was kind of draining and for a minute there she felt really light headed. Andy had placed a hand against the small of her back and for a moment Lily felt comfort wash over her.

“Me next!” CC called out and Lily only shook her head as she looked at them all. This had been her family for an entire year and Lily had spent seven hundred years watching over every single one of them. She knew their dreams, their fears and their desires.

“You’re already ready bro…” Ashley said lowly and Lily only huffed as she faced the angry bassist.


Ash had never liked Lily-even when she was human he had hated her. It seemed like towards the end the two of them had been able to get past some shit, but with her death Ashley had taken advantage of Andy’s fragile state of mind. She watched, balling her fists with rage, as Ash fed Andy booze and women night after night. Instead of going out to meet fans and making them feel like someone cared-which had been his destiny-Andy took the Ashley Purdy lifestyle to a whole new level.

Lily hated him, every inch of him and she would like nothing more than to see him suffer. The two of them stared one another down, their eyes mere slits and Lily knew that the others were staring at the two of them. Andy had placed a hand on her shoulder and she knew that he was scared for her, but it was Ashley who should be scared…of her.


“Well it seems like you guys are all ready to go…so lets head out.” Lily said, placing her hands on her hips. She had shrugged off Andy’s touch for the third time and she silently promised that if he touched her again she was going to make him regret it.

“Yeah!” CC said, clapping his hands together as he grabbed for his drumsticks and led the way towards the dressing room door. All of the guys seemed to be invigorated by her presence and that made Lily hopeful. All of them seemed pumped and were all heading towards the door-except for one unwilling participant.

Ashley Purdy


“Come on man…” Andy said as he turned around and noticed that Ashley was still leaning up against the small makeup table. He was looking straight at Lily, his brown eyes filled with pure hate and he still had that stupid glass in his hands.

“Just leave him…he’ll come eventually…” Lily smirked at the bassist as she turned to face him. Time seemed to stand still as Ashley only snarled as he chucked the glass in his hands at her head and Lily threw up her hands.

“No!” Andy shouted, but his mouth fell open as he watched the scene unfold before him.


The glass shattered in mid air and all of the guys gasped as they watched the shards turn into hundreds of ice blue butterflies that flitted around the room and then disappeared into a fine mist. Lily just stood there with her hand still raised and Ashley held a look of shock on his normally calm face. Lily only smiled, but then her smile turned into a grin as Ashley ran at her.

It was almost terrifying to watch and Andy felt powerless as he stood by. Lily had spread her wings, her hair flying out around her in an invisible wind as she threw both hands up and Ashley was thrown against one wall. He was held up in the air, his arms straight at his sides and he looked scared out of his mind. Andy reached for Lily, but she moved quickly of out his reach and began to walk towards Ashley.


“Wha-what are you?” He asked, his voice wavering in his fear and Lily only smirked as she continued to approach him. She soon reached him and she knew that her eyes-her lavender eyes were filled with so much hate and fire in that moment as they were reflected in Ashley’s.

“I’m not the same girl you thought you knew…don’t mess with me Purdy…” She snarled and then smirked as Lily let her hands down and watched as the bassist slid down the wall.


Lily only looked at the guys as she walked back towards them, her wings having disappeared once again and she felt calmer in that moment. She put a smile on her lips as she moved to the front of the group and held the door open for all of them.

Lily went from being a weak human to a pretty fierce fighter to a complete badass Angel warrior with some pretty cool powers.
