Together Burning Bright

Welcome To Oz

The studio they were all sitting in was hot, cramped and cluttered, but Dess had wanted to be there and so here she was. They were in Sydney for one day to do a few radio interviews for the upcoming Soundwave Festival and then they would catch a jumper plane and head to Auckland New Zealand for Westfest. Then they were going to Brisbane for the start of Soundwave. Thankfully the guys had a few days off in between and they would be in the area for eight days total.

That would leave them plenty of time to see the sights and Dess was especially excited because she had never been to Australia before. After that they would all head to Singapore for a few days to perform with Rob Zombie at Fort Canning. It would be an exhausting week and a half, but it was worth it.

“So Andy-we’ve noticed that your hair is different from the last time you all were here. You go through a lot of changes with your hair it seems.” The DJ stated and Dess only smirked as she looked over to Andy. He was sitting there, his long legs bent as he had one crossed over the other and he looked tired but he was smirking.

“Well you know that’s the thing about humans-we change and we grow. I’m just growing man, I can’t get any taller, so I figure the next best change for me would be to change my hair every other month.” Everyone laughed and Dess winked at him from across the room. She wasn’t going to be involved in the interview-she didn’t want to be in the interview-so she was sitting beside Jon in a set of chairs off to the right.

“Right, right. Well fellas we know that your latest album Wretched and Divine just turned one year old over a month ago. What’s next for Black Veil Brides?” The DJ asked and all of the guys looked at one another-who was going to answer this one. Andy nodded towards Jake, giving him the go ahead because he knew that the fans were wanting to hear from other members of the band and not just him.

“Well we have been working on redoing some of the songs off of our very first record We Stitch These Wounds, but other than that we’re planning on touring until late April. I think this coming summer we’re planning on working on some new stuff-we’ll all be staying out at Andy’s for the summer since he has the nice home studio and he’ll be a new daddy by then.” Jake smirked in Andy’s direction and the singer only laughed as he nodded his head. He trained his blue eyes on Dess, blowing her a kiss from across the room and she blushed crimson.

“That’s right! We had heard a rumor that your lovely wife was expecting-is that her over there in the corner?” One of the DJ’s asked, pointing a finger at her and Dess felt herself blush even more. Andy smirked, biting down on a thumb nail as he caught her eyes and gave her a reassuring look.

“The rumors are very true. Odessa and I are expecting our first child in the spring and we are more than excited for it.” Andy said calmly. He had this under control-he and Dess had talked about this. They had been able to keep her pregnancy out of the media for most of the winter, but she was so obviously pregnant now that it was kind of difficult to avoid those questions.

“That’s great! So can we expect you to retire now that you’re going to be chasing after a little one?” A female DJ asked and all of the guys laughed at this. They had talked about it at length and there was no talk of retirement or throwing in the towel- no matter how many kids they all had between them.

“No way any of us is retiring because of kids! We’re all really excited for this kid to come in to the world!” Ashley said, leaning close to the mic but Dess caught his sunglass covered eyes. Other than Andy, Ash was her biggest protector and she knew it was because he would always have feelings for her.

“So we know that Andy is married. How about the rest of you?” One of the DJ’s asked and the group collectively laughed. Their relationship statuses changed so much that it was hard to keep track of everyone and their actions.

“My girl Ella and I are engaged, planning to get married next Christmas.” Jake said, smiling and Andy nudged him with his elbow. With the Biersack wedding finished, Ella and Jake had finally decided that it was time-plus Ella had gotten a lot of ideas from Dess that she was dying to try out.

“Single and loving it right now!” CC laughed as he took a swig from his can of Monster and high fived Jinxx. Dess only shook her head-those two were going to be trouble this tour…she could already tell just by looking at them.

“What about you Ashley? You’ve always been the ladies man-got your sights set on some lovely Aussie women while you’re here?” The female DJ teased him and Dess watched as Ashley cleared his throat and his cheeks turned red. He had a girlfriend-none of them had met her nor did they even know her name.

“Nope-I am happily taken by someone very wonderful and am intent on keeping it that way for now.” He replied with a slight smirk on his lips. Dess knew she would get a name out of him sooner or later-Ashley Purdy couldn’t keep secrets for too long.

The group continued their conversation and Dess was happy to see that Andy was able to keep her and their business out of it pretty much. One of the DJ’s asked Andy if Dess was going to be selling her t-shirts at a table this coming festival. He happily replied that some of her shirts would be available at the band’s own merch table, but she wouldn’t have one of her own. Dess had wanted to do a table, but Andy had put his foot down-causing a blow out to end all blow outs. He wanted to protect her-he had seen what having a tent at a festival had done to her last summer and he wasn’t going to watch it happen again.

At the mention of a table, Dess crossed her arms over her chest and glared at her husband. He wanted to wrap her in bubble wrap and put her on a shelf until she gave birth. Well that wasn’t going to fucking happen. Dess still got up every morning, did her exercises, drank her chamomile tea-since that was the only drink she could have right now besides water-worked on some shirt designs, worked on some of her DC stuff, made lunch, worked some more and then they would either make dinner together or go out. It was a normal and very boring life to some, but to the two of them it was near perfect. Except for the fact that lately Andy hardly let her leave the house. Thankfully he had let her come on this tour-not that she would have it any other way.

“So what can we expect from you guys during your two festivals over the next few days?”A DJ asked and Andy cleared his throat. There had been some hemming and hawing over what songs to play-should they play only new songs? Or should they switch it up and throw in some old stuff as well? Jon had had to play referee at their final practice just to get the guys to make up their minds.

“Well we’re going to be playing a lot of songs from the new album. Thankfully our set is over half an hour, so we are going to try and throw some older songs in there-maybe a cover or two.” Andy said, placing his fingers around the mic hanging in front of him as he smiled gently. Dess was still in the corner, her belly covered tightly by her stretched t-shirt and Andy couldn’t keep his heartbeat from quickening.

“Sounds like you guys have it all figured out! Do you all ever fight? Has the band ever come close to calling it quits?” There was a slightly uncomfortable silence. Everyone was thinking about the same thing-this past summer. Andy cleared his throat and looked towards Dess who gave him an encouraging smile and nodded her head. It was okay to be honest-there was no shame in admitting that the band had problems.

“Of course we fight! I have the biggest ego ever, but thankfully my lovely wife does not hesitate to kick me in the ass to help me get over it! There have been times where our fights have escalated and we have questioned: Can we do this anymore?” Andy said and there was quiet agreement from everyone around him.

“Yeah-we all know Biersack has a temper and an ego, but we love him and support him. Just like he loves and supports us. There were times, especially when we were first starting out and there was a lot of pressure on us to get albums out quickly, that we just looked around at one another and said ‘do you guys even want to do this anymore?’ I mean it’s normal.” Jake said and all of the guys nodded their heads in agreement.

“We are brothers. Siblings fight and sometimes their fights get out of hand. That doesn’t mean we don’t love one another any less. It certainly doesn’t mean we’re going to throw in the towel. No matter how much we fight-we’re in this for ourselves, but more importantly we’re in it for our fans.”Ashley said and Andy clapped him on the shoulder, a small smile on his perfect lips. Dess knew it was probably just her hormones getting the best of her, but she had tears in her eyes as she watched this band express their hardships.

Dess knew, deep down, that she had been a small cause of recent hardships. Andy and Ashley’s battle royale this past summer-that knockdown, drag out fight that they had had-was partially caused by Ash’s feelings for her. Both of them had tried to reassure her afterwards that that wasn’t the case, but Dess knew that it had something to do with it. Now that she and Andy were married, Ashley seemed to be fine and he had even found himself someone.

The guys still fought-mostly it was Andy and Ash or Jake and CC, but the fights were small and ended quickly. Sometimes they were even kind of funny and by the end everyone involved or in the room ended up in laughter. Dess smiled at Andy, who just winked one gorgeous blue eye at her as the DJ’s continued on with their questioning. How long was this damn radio interview going to be?

“Speaking of your fans-you guys were not far off in naming your movie Legion of the Black. Your fans, in all honesty, kind of are a huge legion. How does it feel knowing that you have the support of so many?” Andy thought for a moment, a smile creeping on to his lips as he took a swig from his bottle of water. He loved their fans-sometimes they got a little too intense and involved, but he loved them all the same.

“Yeah-the Army is definitely in full force right now. We love our fans and we know that without them we wouldn’t be able to do what we’re doing right now.” Andy answered, his blue eyes shining at the mere thought of their wide range of fans. When the band started it was mostly teenagers, but now he noticed older, mid-20 to mid-30 people in their audience.

“I think it’s pretty obvious that they support you. Looking back at the recent AP Reader’s Poll-you all swept the categories that were announced the very last day and almost every category before that you were at least mentioned.” The guys all smirked at this-that had been the best day for them. Andy could remember waking up, on his birthday, to see that he had won a lot of categories. Then the next day CC had called him every time a new result had been posted to let him know who won.

“That was not something we expected. We are loved by our fans, of course, but the music industry has been hard on us at times. We’ve had to fight for what we have, but we know we’re fighting for an awesome group of people-our fans-and we wouldn’t have it any other way.” Andy said with a smile and Dess held up her hands in the form of a heart. She was so proud of him-she was proud of all of them.

“Well that about sums everything up! Thank you so much for coming out guys and we can’t wait to see you up on the stages! To our listeners-you guys can catch Black Veil Brides as Westfest on the main stage and also on the main stage at Soundwave!” The main DJ said and finally the interview was over. The guys had to run to catch their jumper flight to Auckland and so as soon as the On Air sign cut out everyone shook hands and they were off.

The interview had been a success and as he walked down the hall with Dess wrapped in his arms, Andy only hoped that the fans had been listening. He knew it sucked that they never got to come out this way-he had seen the many pleading requests online for them to come out to Australia and NZ, but sadly it wasn’t up to him. As they walked out into the bright light of the day, Andy smirked down at Dess, smiling as she reached up and placed a kiss against the skin of his neck.

This was going to be a fun trip and he knew that it would be even better because his favorite person in the entire world would be with him.

Notes

I am not even going to attempt an Australian accent-so just use your imaginations haha. Kind of a filler chapter-alot of the upcoming chapters are like that, but there's a lot of excitement starting right around Chapter 21 or so...so keep reviewing so I keep updating and we can welcome Baby Girl Biersack in to the world!
