"Mic check one...Mic check one." I tested my mic, next to my mouth, kinda like the one Ashley had.
"Mic check two...Mic check two." Andy.
"Mic check three...Mic check three." Ashley. We went through this a couple more times.
"OK guys, I think we are good. We can do a dry run really quick." Andy and Ashley walked off the stage, and Ashley gave me a quick peck on the cheek. Laura came out with my bass and her guitar. we tuned up, and started to play 'Knives and Pens,' the song we were going to open up with. We moved around the stage freely, playing, and, in my case, singing. I learned a while ago if you practice screaming right before you have to do it for real, you end up not being able to scream right.
"Everyday is still the same dull knife! Stab it through and justify your pride!"
We stopped, went through certain parts of our other songs like 'I'm not a Vampire' by Falling in Reverse and 'Damage' by Fit for Rivals. Then, we went through all of 'Rebel Love Song,' because we still haven't got all of it yet.
"I can not hide, whats on my mind. I feel it burning deep inside." I was enjoying doing this. It had been a long time. "Wild and running for one reason. They can't stop us from our freedom."
"Wild and running for one reason they can't stop us from our freedom." Laura was my backup vocals. She had a small mic as well, but her mic check had been before mine.
"Never gonna change my mind. We can leave it all behind. Nothings gonna stop us, no not this time." Here comes where I kept screwing up last night. "So take your hand in mine its ours tonight. This is the rebel love song. Hearts will sacrifice its do or die. This is the rebel love song." We finished up the final chords. we had done it perfectly. Laura stared cheering, and everyone else joined in. They all ran out and patted our backs. Then, suddenly, Ashley grabbed me, bass and all, and swung me in a circle.
"I can't wait to hear how it sounds all together!" Then he kissed me. It was as if no one else was there, as if were today wasn't today at all. But of course, all good things have to come to an end.
"ASH! HELLO? RUN THROUGH! God, how long have we been calling him?" We jumped a part, and I blushed. We looked like ashamed teenagers or something, trying to look like we have done something inappropriate, but can't hold the stupid grins off our faces. Ashley walked off to do his run through, and I kissed his cheek before he went. Laura and I hung out backstage, listening. They didn't go through every part of their songs, similar to what we had done.
"SO," Laura said suddenly, "have you and Ashley had sex lately?"
"LAURA!"
"What? It's just a question." I looked at her.
"Yes. One other time."
"OK guys. You have about twenty minutes until the show. Take a break, and be back here in time please. We all went to our dressing rooms.
