Roommate Situation
Angsty Teenager
“Damn this place is a pig sty.”My best friend Austin commented as he helped me move into the apartment the record company had put me in.
“Hey it’s a place.”I answered putting down what I had in my hands.I pushed my sunglasses up onto my head and looked around.“Eh, it’s not exactly pretty but it’ll do.”It was a pig sty like Austin had mentioned but I was trying to look on the bright side of things.
“So, who are you living with?”He put the tote he had in his hands down.
I shrugged my shoulders.“Some guys named Jake and Andy I think.”I moved further into the living room and saw that there was some writing on the wall, some lyrics and the names Jake and Andy.“Yep definitely Jake and Andy.”
“Oh, so that’s why you were so eager to move.Because you knew you would be living with guys.”Austin teased.
“No it’s because I would be getting out of my mother’s house.I love the woman and all but I’m tired of being smothered.”Maybe I was a bit excited to be living with two guys but I wasn’t going to admit that.“By the way none of this gets back to my mother.I had told her I was living with two girls named Andrea and Jill.”
“My lips are sealed.”Austin replied.“So, where’s your room?”He asked kicking at my tote.
I led the way through the apartment and found a hall of doors.Two were open and obviously taken, one was the bathroom and the last one was closed.I tried my key in the handle and it opened up to a decent sized room.There was enough room to fit all of my furniture and my guitars.
“Smaller than your other bedroom.”Austin noted walking in after me.
“Yeah but it will do.”He didn’t want me to move but there was no changing my mind.I needed this, I needed to start my life and that wasn’t happening with me living with my mother.

After Austin had left I decided to take a shower.I was all disgusting from moving and just wanted to relax.But that was short lived when I realized I never brought a towel into the bathroom with me.
“Fuck.”I grumbled as I rung my hair out.“Of course I would forget my towels.”I told myself as I walked out of the bathroom.
And just as my luck would have it, standing right there in the hall way were two guys.One was in one of the bedrooms and the other was leaning against the bedroom door.And of course they both turned to look at me.
I covered myself up the best I could.“Nice to meet you two.”I said and then darted into my room, slamming my door behind me.
“Nice to meet you two?”I scolded myself for saying something so stupid.“What the hell?”I hadn’t expected them to be back and for them to be so good looking.Sure they had the weird 80’s rock band look to them, which I totally didn’t get, but I could easily recognize that they were pretty hot.
Dear God, two hot guys had witnessed me completely naked and I hadn’t planned it.I covered my face up horrified.The first time I met my roommates and I was completely nude.I knew I wasn’t going to live that down.

“My roommates have seen me naked.”I whispered into my phone to Austin as I peeked out my door.I was trying to see if they were still in the hall way.That was a negative.I sighed in relief and shut my door behind me.
“What did I tell you about men?Don’t get naked for them until the second date.”Austin responded.
“It wasn’t on purpose.I forgot my towel in my room when I went to go take my shower and I didn’t think they were here.”I continued down the hall way praying that they had left the apartment.
“Of course you would forget your towel.”He chuckled.“Did they say anything?”
“They just stared.”I walked into the living room and they weren’t there.Hopefully they had left.“I said ‘Nice to meet you two.’Stupid me.Who the hell has says that in that type of situation?”
“At least you were courteous.So to celebrate you surviving this, I’m taking you out to dinner tomorrow.”He always knew how to make me feel better about the stupid things I did.
“Where?”I asked walking into the kitchen.Sitting right at the breakfast nook laughing were the two guys.
“It’s a surprise.Wear something nice.”Austin replied.
“Umm…okay.I have to go.”I said and then hung up.
I walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge, of course there was nothing in there, so I shut it.
“I thought we were supposed to be getting a guy roommate.”One of them asked.He had blue eyes and black hair and a really deep voice that didn’t really seem to fit his look.“Nate or something.”
“It’s Nat.My name is Natalie but everyone calls me Nat.”I answered.
“Oh so it wasn’t a typo.”The other guy chimed in.He had black hair and brown eyes and seemed to be shorter than the other guy.
“Obviously not.I’m pretty sure we all know for sure that I am a girl.”I leaned against the breakfast nook.“So which one of you is Andy and which one’s Jake?”
“I’m Andy and he’s Jake.”The guy with the blue eyes answered.
“And what band are you guys from?”I asked.
“Black Veil Brides.”Jake answered.
“Let me guess, lead singer.”I said pointing to Andy.“And guitarist.”I pointed to Jake.
“Either you’re powers of observation are amazing or you knew who we were.”Andy answered not looking very impressed.
“I have never heard of you guys before.”I answered.“I’m not really into the whole 80’s hair band thing.I grew up in the 90’s so I was into the boy bands like all the other pre-pubescent girls were.”
“How the hell did we get stuck with you?”Andy asked not looking too pleased.
“Well aren’t you a ray of sunshine in the morning.”I replied.“I’m obviously into rock now but that doesn’t mean I have heard of you guys.”
“You probably listen to that mindless shit that just uses random words and calls it lyrics.”Andy answered.
Was this the inquisition or something?“Ah…no actually.My friend is in a metal band and I love their music.And it’s not just random words thrown together.”
“And who is that?”Andy crossed his arms across his chest.“Glitter Beyond the Wonder or something like that?”
“Austin Carlile from Of Mice & Men.”I answered.
“Riiigghhhttt.”Andy said.“Name five of their songs.”
“YDG, They Don’t Call it ‘The South’ For Nothing, Second and Seabring, Westbound & Down, John Deux Trois, Those in Glass Houses, Farewell to Shady Glade, The Ballad of Tommy Clayton & the Rawdawg Millionaire, Seven Miles for What, and This One’s for you.That is the songs from their first album, Of Mice & Men.Their second album which hasn’t come out yet is the Flood and its songs are O.G. Loco, Ben Threw, Let Live, Still YDG’n, My Understanding, Ohioisonfire, Purified, Product of Murder, Repeating Apologies, The Great Hendowski, I’m a Monster and When You Can’t Sleep at Night.”I answered totally schooling him.
“Yeah I don’t listen to them so I don’t know any of those songs.”Andy answered and left the room.
“Don’t mind him.He’s an angsty teenager sometimes.”Jake replied.“He’s a really friendly person once you get to know him.”
“I’ll have to remember that.”I answered a bit annoyed.
