The girl across the hall

Long time since then.

Andy awakens in the morning, still hoping that Juliet would be by his side instead of a girl he met at a bar last night. Her angel bites that he found so appealing and seductive last night only remind him of the lover he lost. He huffs, flipping over to face away from the girl. She awakes soon after Andy is asleep, pulling a cigarette from the pack he had left on his nightstand and lighting it quietly. Her phone buzzes, probably a friend or a committed lover she needed a break from. Her sigh echoes through the room as she lays back down, cuddling into Andy from behind. Her cigarette is still dangling from her fingertips as she whispers in his ear, "I know you're awake."
He takes a deep breath, ignoring the girl as she presses her lips to his neck for the last time this morning. Andy gets up after the girl, knowing that she would have probably taken a picture of him while he slept as 'proof.' She turns to look at him, "could I put my number in your phone?"
Andy nods, being polite. Both know this will never happen again but the routine is set. Soon she will leave and he will begin his day, finding another girl to take home later that night, or not.
Arielle walks into the building in an irritable state of mind. Nothing has been going right for her ever since Dean left, and the noises from across the hall aren't being very comforting. She shivers at the thought of that- that disgusting excuse for a man who she hugged, and seeked comfort in. She hadn't spoken to him since, even with his attempts at conversation as they passed in the halls. She would not fall for his trap like those other poor girls, Arielle is too smart for that. It would be a lie if she thought that without the tattoos, black hair, and leather he would be attractive but the 'unique' way of life just seems utterly repulsive and she understands why his ex got out as quickly as she did.
Arielle rolls her eyes as she comes to the fifth floor to find Andy walking out yet another poor girl. Last nights victim.
He pulled the girl whose name he never bothered to learn into a loose hug before she went, not without noticing Arielle watching him. She scoffs and unlocks her apartment, slamming it shut as the girl gets in the elevator. Andy could only hope she was legal age, but the past has already taken the night to shame, with much of this past month.
A knock rang through Arielle's apartment as soon as she set down her bag of groceries. Without bothering to look to see who was on the other side she swung open the door. Almost immediately the door was slammed shut. Except Andy wouldn't let her get away that easy; his foot stops the door before it closes, slowly opening the wooden door to reveal his smirk.
"You know, you shouldn't be that rude to your neighbor. You looked upset on the way in and I wanted to make sure you were alright." Andy reaches out and places a hand on her forearm, his bright eyes locking with her almost hazel, but not quite, ones. She scoffs, "maybe I don't want your concern."
Something was holding her back from shutting the door right then and there. She has work to do and this is not helping.
"You're feisty for such a beautiful girl." Andy pushes a light brown hair out of her face, tucking it behind her ear. She slapped his hand away. "Fuck off, I don't want to be one of your sex toys."
"You thought!" He chuckles, "no, you're too intelligent for that. I would never."
Andy is trying his hardest to persuade the girl to at least make acquaintances, or a friendship. He knows he has no game, usually only his looks and fame are on his side, not now. "I just want to know..."
She raises an eyebrow as he continues, not amused or convinced at his attempts at wooing her. "One date? That's all I am asking. One simple night at the movies or out to dinner. Please?"
He bites down on his lipring, that ornament only disgusts Arielle more.
"No." She goes to close the large door, only to have Andy slip inside before she can.
"Just one date? I'm not implying anything, simply a night out? Please?" He adds a bit of a pout in, hoping a bit of sympathy might be mustered up from the gorgeous girl in front of him. She pauses a second before answering, "no. And get out of my apartment."
"Just think about it before it's too late." Andy says smugly before walking back to his apartment, pulling out his phone to call his friend, the master at flirting and convincing women. The one and only Ashley Purdy.
Across the hall, Arielle had pulled out her own phone to text her best friend, Delaney. Was she too harsh on Andy?
Arielle: D I need your advice.
Delaney: sure, what's wrong?
Arielle: the man across the hall asked me out and I told him no.
Delaney: why? You need to get over dean, he was an ass to you. Arielle unless he was ratchet say yes, you don't know, maybe he could be a great guy.
Arielle: look up Andy Biersack on google.
Delaney: why?
Arielle: just do it. And what do you think of him.
Delaney: he would be so hot without the tattoos and piercings. Why?
Arielle: that's the guy across the hall, he brings home a girl almost every night since his ex broke up with him, the same day Dean broke up with me.
Delaney: tell him yes in a few days, then he'll be expecting you to sleep with him, and don't. That'll teach him a lesson. ;) lead him on girl!
Arielle: :| fine. But what if he takes me to a club or something...
Delaney: whatever. Just do it, plus then you can't waste the opportunity incase he is actually a good guy.
Arielle: just look at him! He's horrid.
Andy sighs as ashley doesn't answer for the fourth time. Probably out banging some chick who he met somewhere somehow. Andy sighs, knowing its time to head into the studio to work on the third record. It's coming along well as they have been working on it for a few weeks. The original record label dropped them after a few months of work, now the band had to start all over again. But when would his next chance to talk to Arielle be?
He was drawn to her somehow, sometimes he would purposely wait to walk girls out until when he knew she was coming home. He knew it was lame and creepy, it seemed to just make her disgust for him grow because she now knew how much sex he truly had.
That day when he got home from the studio, Andy caught her in the hallway while getting his mail. She avoided his gaze with her mail in hand as she shuffled past him to the elevator. Unlucky for her, yet lucky for him, Andy managed to squeeze past the closing doors of the elevator to join.
"So have you thought about it yet?" He asks with a smug smile, leaning against the side of the elevator. She rolled her eyes, thinking about what her friend had texted earlier.
'Wait a few days, then say yes.'
"Come on Arielle, just one date?" He pleaded, getting a cigarette out of his pocket and a lighter. She scowls at it, 'one more reason not to go. A smoker.'
He turns the lighter in his hands, awaiting her response. "You might want to push the button?"
Arielle ignores him while pushing the button labeled 5. He smirks, "so, will you answer me or just ignore me?"
"Leave me alone." She sends him a glare, not bothering to see the hurt on his face afterwards. "Don't you have some 'chick' to fuck tonight?"
"No. I don't feel like it." He shrugs, sparking the lighter and watching the flame rise up before clicking it off. After a few tries the singer lights up the cigarette and takes a drag, blowing the smoke out, causing his point of intrest to cough.
"Don't smoke in here. That's disgusting." She plugs her nose as he takes another drag. He smirks, "I take it you've never smoked then. But you probably had those days in college when everyone was at a party passing a joint around so you thought 'why the hell not'. It's no different, except smoking this is legal."
A blush creeps into Arielle's cheeks. She did smoke marijauna in high school and college a few times but those days are long gone. Now she is a writer for teen vogue, she's close to following her dream and being a writer for the real vogue. Andy would drag her down if she was even to actually go on a date with him for real.
"So I was right?" He says smugly, more of a statement than a question. "Hey, I don't do that, don't worry. I mean maybe occasionally I'll smoke a joint when I'm at a party but otherwise I stick to cigarettes and alcohol."
"So you're implying you're a drunken druggie then?" She smirks, stepping off the elevator. He is hot on her tail, lacing his hand with hers. She quickly pulls her hand away, scowling and wiping it on her jeans. He chuckles, "I'm not a gross germ."
"You might as well be." She rolls her eyes, unlocking her apartment. "And you suck at flirting."
"I know." He mumbles, looking to the ground in embarrassment. "What's so bad about a guy trying to get a beautiful girl to go on one date with him?"
"The guy you're talking about is utterly repulsive." She smirks, walking into her apartment and shutting the door, leaving him to turn into his own apartment. Andy sighs, seeing ashley finally texted:
Ashley: she's playing hard to get man. No one can resist you. ;)
Ashley: that sounded so gay...
Andy rolls his eyes, 'please. Playing hard to get. I can only hope.'
His curiosity gets the best of him when he hears two girls conversing in the hallway. One was definitely Arielle, the other Andy had never heard before. He pressed his ear to the wooden door and listened.
Delaney had come to talk to Arielle about the guy across the hall. She knocks on the door, soon to be greeted by her best friend and roommate who begins their conversation in the hall.
"He is such a generic of his type. I mean cigarettes and tattoos are definitely out." Arielle says to her friend with an annoyed tone, running a hand through her long hair.
"Come on. Just do what I told you. You never know, you could end up actually having fun on that date?" Delaney pulls at the hem of her pencil skirt which lands on her upper thighs, she never dressed very flattering as far as a fashion journalist was concerned. Arielle's own dark-blue skinny jeans and faded plaid shirt seemed to match her perfectly, paired with a brown leather belt that her mom had given on her last birthday. Andy had never exactly had the same draw to women who's styles were like his own. Like juliet, she wasn't exactly the same style as Andy, maybe a bit more hipster than punk or rock and roll if that's what you can call it. Arielle had a more common look to her, yet unique. He admired that she could make herself stand out by simply wearing the next season's trends. He decides to step out of the apartment to 'smoke.' The girls jump as the door opens behind them and Andy casually strolls out of the apartment. Delaney's eyes take him in, from his short black hair that he had recently cut but is starting to grow over his eyes again, to the tattooed arm that is about to become a sleeve. Her gaze dances over his nose and lip rings as he walks to the elevator, holding his pack of cigarettes in one hand and the lighter in the back pocket not containing his phone. She catches herself staring at his ass, whispering to Arielle who had just done the same thing, "He's hot even with the tattoos and piercings."
Andy smirks as she whispers this, obviously not quiet enough. Arielle scowls, "he sleeps with different girls every night, it's repulsive. I call them his victims."
Andy chuckles to himself, 'victims, I like that.'
"You should at least go on the date with him. If you don't, maybe I'll become the next victim." Delaney winks at her, jokingly.
Andy turns around, facing the women talking about him. "I agree with her Arielle. You should go on at least one date with me."
Arielle raises her middle finger, rolling her eyes, about to turn back into her apartment when Delaney sends her a warning look. She hisses, "remember the texts."
"Ugh." Arielle grumbles, saying with annoyance, "fine. I'll go on one date with you if you promise never to bother me again."
Andy raises his eyebrows, a smug smile tugging at his lips, "Alright, but there's always the chance you'd want to go on another one."
She scoffs, "not this time Andy."
Her friend smiles at him flirtatiously as they go into her apartment, slamming the door shut, leaving his smug face and all in the hall.
Andy rushes back into his apartment, needing to think of a place to go, what to do, what day and time, and how to look somewhat more classy than his usual attire. He mutters to himself, "a movie?... No. Bowling?... Maybe A concert?... That would be interesting, but no. Mini golf? Maybe. Out to dinner somewhere nice? That would probably be the best bet, paired with something fun as well."
Andy walks back out of his apartment, to the girl across the hall's door. Her glare lessens as she looks into Andy's piercing blue eyes. "What do you want?"
"Just wanted to ask if Friday around five was a good time?" He asks with a content smile, leaning his arm in the doorway. She pulls out her phone to look at the calendar, unlucky for her Friday she got off of work early and she was free. "Ya." She mumbles, not looking up from the phone. He holds his phone out to her, catching her by surprise. "Can I have your number?"
She reluctantly takes the phone, handing him hers as they as their numbers. Andy makes his contact name Andy Biersack with a skull emoji on the end. She thinks, 'how childish.' As she looks at the contact. He had also entered his address as: across the hall.
"Thank you." Andy kisses her cheek in a friendly way, then walks back into his apartment, leaving Arielle to wonder why her cheek is tingling where his lips were.
