You Saved Me

Katie's POV: The girls and I were laughing and joking around while the guys sat at a table not too far from us.
"So, what do you think Ashley's surprise for you is going to be?" Juliet asked me, out of nowhere.
I think about this and silently wonder the same thing, but reply with a shrug and say, "No clue. Probably another early Christmas present."
"Well, let's go see if we can't get the answer out of the boys then," Ella says, and I shrug again, but get up from my seat and walk over to Ashley, sitting on his lap. I notice he's holding a mistletoe in his hand, so I grab it and hold it above our heads with a small smile.
He laughs but kisses me without complaint, then says, "We should probably head home soon, but I still need to give you your surprise before we leave."
"Alright," I say, kissing him again.
He then stands up, while helping me get to my own feet, and wordlessly leads me through the crowd, while I wink at the girls. They all smile back at me, then pull the guys to follow us outside, which honestly confuses the hell out of me.
Ashley leads me to a small tree covered area, that's been decorated with white lights and blue garland, then faces me once we're in the center, and says, "Katie Monroe-Vanity.You have been everything I could ask for and more. I actually sometimes don't feel I deserve you, but I've brought you out here to ask you something," he pauses long enough to sink to the ground on one knee and my breath catches in my throat. He then pulls a small velvet box from his pocket and opens it as he says, "Katie, will you please do me the honor of becoming my wife? Please say you'll marry me?"
I knew whatever Ashley Purdy had planned was going to be unexpected, but this was not on the list of things I thought I'd ever hear come out of his mouth.
Panic washes over me for a moment, and my breathing was becoming erratic, as my body begins to shake uncontrollably.
"Baby?" Ashley asked gently, standing up and supporting me. His warm embrace calms me, and I take a shaky breath trying to calm myself further, but it's no use.
"Sit down, baby," he whispers, helping me to sit on the soft ground below, then has me place my head between my knees so I can calm down better. I feel him rub soothing circles into my back, then once I've calmed down enough, I look up at him.
"Sorry about that. You really took me off gaurd," I say sheepishly.
"I could tell. Are you okay?" he asked, a look of concern plastered across his brow.
I nod, then say, "Yes. I'm fine."
"Was it too soon to ask?" he asked me.
"No. It's just...I was not expecting this. Like, at all," I tell him, "You always surprise me though."
He smiles at me, then kisses me and says, "Well then what's you're answer, baby?"
I smile up at him, take a calming breath, then say, "Yes. I'll marry you, Ashley Purdy."
He smiles brightly at me, then kisses me tenderly, and places the beautiful ring on my left ring finger.
"Ah!" we hear from behind the bushes as the girls come tumbling out, causing Ashley and me to laugh.
"Let me see the ring!" Ella calls out.
"Me too!" Juliet squeels happily.
"Yes, let's see it!" Sammi says.
"Totally!" Lauren follows.
"Alright, alright. Cool it," I say through my laughter, holding my left hand out to show them, as the boys follow at a more leisurely pace.
Faintly I hear the girls gushing over how beautiful it is, and the guys congratulating us, but right now I'm not paying much attention to them. I can't stop starring at Ashley in shock and awe. If I wasn't the one he proposed to, I wouldn't have fucking believed it.
"Ready to go home?" he asked.
"As long as I'm with you," I whisper in return.
He smiles from ear to ear, and says, "You'll never be without me, babe."
"Good," I say, then kiss him passonatly.
"Save that for the bedroom, Micro," Andy says, as I pull away from Ashley and flick Andy off over my shoulder.
I hear Andy snort, then Ashley helps me to my feet again, and kisses me gently. We then say goodnight to the guys and girls, and head for his SUV. He helps me in, and once inside next to me, he links our fingers together as he pulls out of the driveway.
I patiently wait for us to get on the main road, then lean my head on his shoulder, causing him to seperate our hands, only so he can wrap his arm around me, and hold my other hand, while I admire my new engagement ring in the dim light.
When we get to his house...well...his...? Our...? Fuck it, I'm just going to say it's his, since I don't technically live here yet. Anyway, we get to his house, and he helps me from the car, by picking me up bridal style, and carring me in.
He sets me on the couch, then gets on top of me, and kisses my neck, sending shivers down my spine. Mmm, it's going to be a long night, but I have no complaints.
