Meeting My Mother
This was it. Ashley had been helping me to prepare for this moment for half an hour. I was going to meet my new mother. I was wearing maroon uber-skinny jeans and a Sleeping With Sirens band tee. My silver spider bites gleamed in the afternoon LA sun, and black crosses hung from my ears.
Ashley, CC and had walked from the house to the cafe on the beach where Jake, Jinxx and Andy had told us to meet them after picking Ella up from the airport.
As according to plan, when we got to the cafe, Ashley and CC began to speed up ahead, and I lagged behind. I sat directly behind Jake and listened in to their conversation, waiting for my queue.
"Ella," Jake started. "You know when we were in England for the Europe section of our tour?"
"Jakey? What is it?" Ella asked nervously.
"Well, we met someone who needed help..." Jake continued.
"Go on..." Ella prompted, and I grinned.
"Ella, we have a daughter." Jake finished, finally releasing the tension that poor CC had built up in the time Jake had been dragging on.
"Oh my God, that's wonderful! Where is she? How old is she?" Ella seemed so happy, and then I stood up and walked up to her.
"Here I am!" I smiled, terrified that my new mother wouldn't like me. Contrary to my fears, Ella squealed, leapt up, and enflulfed me in a perfume-y hug. Not that I minded, of course.
"Hi sweetie!" Ella cooed. "Whats your name?"
"Annabel..." I said, shyness suddenly sweeping over me in smothering waves. Andy pulled the chair I was sitting on, put it in between Ella and Jake, and I sat down.
"Can we eat now?" CC asked, and so we did.
