Chapter 10
~Ashley's POV~
I was surprised she told as much as she did, I just have the slight feeling that she's hiding something though. "Maybe soon enough she'll open up more." Caysen whispered in my ear. I looked at her, smiling. This woman always knew what I was thinking, I wrapped my arm around her shoulders.
"Uh Jenna? Do you have very many clothes or anything?" I asked. She bit her lip before shaking her head.
"Excellent! Now we can bond over a little shopping!" Caysen yelled triumphantly. Jenna started laughing and nodded her head, that was a good sight. Seeing my new daughter smile and laugh like she wasn't just adopted, but as if she had been born into this family.
I got up and walked over to her, pulling Caysen up with me. I held my hand out for Jenna to grab, she grabbed it a bit hesitantly as if she was afraid I was going to hurt her. I pulled her up as well and said "Kids, me and mom are going to take Jenna for a little shopping trip. Then we'll come back and retrieve you two for dinner, sound good?" They both exchanged a look before nodding and giving Jenna a hug before retreating upstairs.
I smiled at Jenna and before saying "Want a nick name kid?" She seemed to be thinking for a moment before saying "Sure!" I laughed and threw my arm lazily around her shoulder. Cays was already at the door, waiting for us to hurry up. I thought before saying "Hm I think the nickname Jennaboo suits you!" Jenna scrunched her face up and shook her head. Caysen chuckled and said "Ash, she's 15, not 4. How does J sound Jenna?" Jenna seemed to perk up and nodded her head, smiling.
We had all piled into the car by now and were pulling out of the driveway when I forgot to tell her who her godfather was. "J, do you like Of Mice & Men?" I asked. Her face brightened and she said "I love them!" I chuckled and said "That's good." She got a confused look on her face, but didn't ask any questions.I pulled out my phone and texted Austin.
Me-"Hey Austin, got a surprise for you."
Austin-"Woah what is it?!"
Me-"Meet us at the mall and you'll see!"
I looked at Caysen and smiled, she was just chattering away with J. This is what I lived for, all of them.
They're the reason I stopped self harming after Harley had died, I-I just fell down... My mind was clouded with these thoughts as we pulled into the mall parking lot.
I saw Austin's car and pulled up next to it, I smiled back at J and said "You have a godfather and you're about to meet him." She looked confused again and I saw Austin silently getting out of his car. He opened J's door and said "HELLO MY NEW GODCHILD!" She jumped and turned to him, I saw her eyes widen. Then she started crying, this caused Austin to make a confused, but sad face. "Ash! What did I do?! I- I swear I didn't mean to make her cry!" He blurted out.
She wrapped her arms around him, enveloping him in a hug. He tensed and I just shrugged my shoulders, he then wrapped his arms around her. She pulled away from the hug and said "Hi there, uh I didn't mean to cry, but you saved my life with your music.... I never imagined my life would consist of my parents being rockstars and my godfather being THE Austin Carlile." An 'awe' escaped from me and Caysen. Another car pulled up next to us, and someone stepped out. J gasped and hid her head in Austin's chest when she saw who it was.
