Once Upon A Tragedy
Interrogation
The next day was uneventful; my guess was that all the guys had baby hangovers, taking the day to sleep it off. I was just glad to be home.
Andy was still asleep when I woke up so I went out and made myself a cup of coffee, and then making my way to Laila’s room to peek in to make sure she was ok. She was still asleep so I let her be; those boys probably wore her out.
“I am so bored,” I stated as I had been watching my coffee swirl around in the mug I was holding. Maybe now would be a good time to unpack all my stuff. Setting out to do just that, I grabbed my phone so I could listen to music without disturbing the dead bodies in the house. I settled on my oldies playlist.
I whispered the words to These Arms by Otis Redding as I sat on the floor in front of my suitcases and began the daunting task. I didn’t notice Andy waking up and watching me. California Dreamin by The Mamas and Papas came on, and there is no way I could not sing along. I ended up dancing around, placing my clothes in their rightful places.
I found myself dancing to Wouldn’t It Be Nice by The Beach Boys when a pair of arms found their way around my waist. I let out a scream as I jumped away, tripping over the suitcases and falling. I heard the laughter of my man. Looking up to see him keeling over, turning red, I snuck up behind him and jumped. Successfully knocking him over, I ran out to the bathroom and locked the door behind me.
“Kaelyn? We have something going on today, so don’t plan on staying in there all day…I know about your stash of food in there for purposes such as this.” He said and walked away from the door.
“Now I have to move the stash!” I muttered to myself, setting out to work on the big food move in the bathroom.
Ten minutes later I walked out to be given a plate of food and a kiss from Andy.
“What are we doing today anyway?” I asked as I stuffed my face with the eggs he made.
“Just a surprise.” He said, giving no details whatsoever.
“Well, who is going to be there?”
“Just us two.” He answered.
“Umm ok then, is this a date? Should I wear something fancy?”I wanted to be prepared!
“Well I guess it is a date, but just dress the way you usually do.” He answered as I finally got what I needed and ran to the bathroom to start getting ready.
An hour later I emerged wearing ripped jeans and a Pink Floyd tee. I had my makeup done very natural, just enough to enhance my blue eyes. I took Laila from Andy so he could get ready.
“Laila, tell mommy what daddy has planned!” I said trying to get her to talk.
“Mommy!” She said.
“Yeah yeah, I know you can say that, now give me a real answer!” I told her as Andy walked back in. So not fair he only takes like twenty minutes when he isn’t trying and when I’m not trying it takes an hour!
“Really? Interrogating our daughter for answers?” He asked shaking his head in disbelief.
“You know it!” I smiled cheekily at him and flashed the peace sign. Then I heard a knock on the door. Andy answered it to Sammi and Jinxx, apparently they were the babysitters.
“You ready to go babe?” Andy asked as he took my hand.
“Yeah,” I said as I let him drag me out, giving Sammi my famous ‘you are dead’ look.
Andy took me to the beach, just to walk, nothing fancy. We walked around for a few hours and had stopped at a little stand for a quick bite to eat. After we finished eating, I noticed Andy start acting weird, I mean weird for him.
We stopped at a log and sat down on it, there was no one in sight.
“What’s going on Andy?” I started getting worried.
“Well, you knew that we were planning something, this is what we were planning, I needed the guys help.” He stated as he got down on one knee in front of me and took a deep breath.
“I know this is really soon in our relationship, but I don’t see a point in waiting any longer. Kaelyn, you are the only woman I can imagine spending my life with, you are my daughters mother!” He said taking my hand and getting shaky breaths in, I started tearing up.
“What I’m trying to ask is, will you marry me?” He asked and pulled out a box and opened it to reveal a beautiful ring that literally looked like a rose made of a diamond. At that point the water works were flowing like crazy.
“Of course I will!” I said with my voice cracking and laughing, he laughed too and slipped the ring on my left ring finger and then stood up bringing me with him, pulling me into the most passionate kiss I have ever shared with anyone.
“Gosh, that was cheesy!” I said as we pulled away. I hate cheese.
“I know, I couldn’t think of a better way to ask you.” He said as we walked hand in hand back to his car.
“You did good! Any other way would have been too much!” I stated as I threw my hands up in the air.
“I know, the guys and girls were trying to get me to go all out, it would have scared you into saying no!” He said as he laughed at my antics.
We reached his car and drove home, holding hands the entire way. When we got out of the car, I ran at him for a piggyback ride, we walked all day, there was no way I was about to climb all those stairs. He just laughed and let it happen. I had a gigantic, cheesy smile on my face the whole time.
When he opened the door we were bombarded with ‘did she say yes’ coming from all the guys and girls and even my band.
“How did you get in my apartment?” I asked, thoroughly freaked out. I then remembered that Sammi and Jinxx were there, so they probably let them in.
“Nevermind,” I stated as I shoved my left hand out to show off my engagement ring. All the guys rushed forward to look at it, the girls didn’t even move an inch, making me fall to the ground laughing.
“Oh my god! You guys are such girls!” I said in between laughs.
We ended up celebrating late into the night. All I remember was passing out on the couch and then waking up briefly while Andy carried me to our bed.
