Church Is In Session **COMPLETED**

Bad Luck

Today was a day that Andy and I took to relax. And since that was getting boring we decided to walk around the camp and get food and shop for different things. Esther and Jake had come along as well. All four of us walked, laughed, ate, and for Jake he had had three plates of food by the time the rest of us barley finished one. How did he eat so much?

There was one shop that Esther and I had never been to toward the entrance of the camp and Jake wanted to show us it. Andy's fingers were interlocked with mine as we followed Jake to the shop we absolutely needed to see. This shop was filled with alcohol and other things that could get even Esther so drunk that she won't remember a thing. Andy bought a few bottles of the strongest smelling thing in there.

"Here smell this." He asked.

Trusting him, I smelled it and almost passed out drunk from the smell alone. It invaded my nose and refused to leave.

"Aw babe I'm sorry!" He said hugging me when I tried to walk out.

"No! You don't deserve to get an apology!" I laughed still trying to get the smell out of my nose.

When he released the hug something caught my eye on the outside of the camp. It was a figure walking toward the entrance. I stood there staring at the figure until it had reached the camp entrance. I walked out to see who it was, leaving the rest of the gang still smelling alcohol, and I couldn't believe what my eyes told me. I saw the man who had gone missing a few weeks ago just walk into camp. He was holding his stomach and shouting for help. I walked closer with no one running up to the poor guy. I could see that his abdomen was bloody. He fell to his knees.

"What happened?" I asked kneeling down to help him.

"Help me!" He whispered, his arm falling to his side.

I stood back up and covered my mouth holding back a scream. His abdomen was slit open causing his stomach contents to fall out and onto the dirt ground. His intestines gave me the impression of pasta on steroids. One thing was for sure, I was never eating pasta again.

"ANDY!" I screamed watching Louis try to put his insides back, well, inside. "ANDY!" I continued to scream until both he and Jake ran up to Louis' now lifeless body.

He had fallen to his side and his guts were spilling over the ground. Blood pooled in the dirt around him. "Louis!" Jake and Andy yelled trying to save him, it was too late, he was gone.

I felt Esther come up beside me. She grabbed my hand and squeezed it tight. I did the same feeling tears trickle down my face. Andy and Jake had motioned for some people around them to help pick up the body. Andy had gotten out of carrying him and walked toward me. His hands were covered in Louis' blood.

"Go back home, lock whatever door you can and stay there until I come get you." I nodded, "be safe." He ran off to help with Louis.

What had I just seen? I had never seen Louis before, I had talked to his family once to give them my condolences but other than that I had no connection to him. It felt like he was my best friend and I had just sen him die. Of course it wold be sad to see someone die, but this was different. I had seen thousands of people being killed, even my own parents, but I have never felt this strongly toward a person I had never met. Was it just the way he had died? Or was it that I had met his family and had seen them worry over him?

"Cat?" I heard Esther ask. I turned to her to see that she was worried, but not crying. "Are you okay?"

I wiped my eyes, "yeah, I'm fine. Let's go home."

"Wait! I want to find Zain." She said trying to pull away.

I held her close to me. "Andy said we need to go home!"

She didn't want to agree but knew that I wasn't going to let her go off with what just happened to find Zain. We went to Esther's house. She asked if I could spend the night and I agreed without hesitation. Although I wanted the comfort of Andy's arms my best friend needed me. And she couldn't exactly ask Zain to spend the night seeing as they were just trying to be friends.

"Hey," I heard a familiar voice whisper softly into me ear.

I had fallen asleep in Esther's bed. "Hi," I smiled trying to to wake Esther.

"Are you okay?" He asked placing one hand on my cheek.

I nodded pressing into his hand. I got up and walked into the living area. "What happened to him?" Obviously his stomach was slit open, I just wanted to know why this had happened.

Andy sighed before answering. "It's a sort of scaring thing F.E.A.R. likes to do. This has never happened in our camp but I have heard it happen to others."

I wrapped my arms around his waist just wanting to feel comfort. "I don't know why seeing him made me so...sad." I didn't know how to explain it.

"You were just scared," he was probably right. "I think I should go check on Zain. He was really worried too." He said pulling away from the hug and kissing my forehead.

I went to my own bed and played the whole day over again. How much fun we were having, to seeing Louis dying not two feet from me. I rolled over on my side to find tears trickling down my face again. Why had that got me so bad? Was it because it reminded me of when my parents died? Well, whatever it was I wasn't going to figure it out tonight. All I was worried about was what Andy said. "A sort of scaring thing F.E.A.R. likes to do."

Notes
