"Well, just tell me, we'll make it happen,"
"Alright. So, I want a hummingbird, on my shoulder blade, but just the head, and in the eye, a razor blade,"
"That isn't crazy at all, let's do this. Let me draw it up and we'll tweak it from there," I sit calmly as she draws. About twenty minutes later, she shows me this beautiful thing that I fall in love with.
"No tweaks, this is perfect," it's the head of a humming bird with a razor blade on wings in the center of its eye.
"Let's do this," she lays the wax paper on my shoulder blade, and the needle starts.
*FOUR HOURS LATER*
"This is so beautiful, thank you so much," I hug Christi tightly.
"It's no problem, really. Pro bono," she suddenly says.
"Seriously?"
"Oh, hell yes,"
"Wow, thank you," and I hug her again.
"Just as long as you promise to only let me do your tattoos in the future,"
"Yeah, sure, that'd be great,"
"Alright!!! I'll see you soon. Do I hear that you're on Warped? I'll see you on Warped!"
"Yup, I'm on Warped,"
"I shall see you there,"
"Hey, Ivy, babe, you here?"
"Hm? Yeah, over here Jake,"
"Hi you! Let's see what you got," I turn and show him. "Jesus that looks good,"
"I know it does! Oh my God, it's so great," I gush obnoxiously.
"Ivy, you've got great taste. We're gonna go out to dinner to celebrate, wanna come?"
"I have a choice?"
"Well... yeah,"
"I guess I'll go,"
"Sweet!"
"I don't actually have a choice,"
"No, but let's go. I think you'll have fun,"
"Alright,"
*AT THE RESTAURANT*
"Wow.... this is awesome!" I say.
"You've never been?"
"No,"
"Welcome then,"
"Yeah, thanks," and I kind of laugh. I'm actually pretty happy here, I don't really know.
"So... I guess tour is in a week,"
"Yup," the guys converse, and I just sit there kind of quiet.
*DINNER IS OVER*
"Yeah, I'm just gonna go home. Ivy are you coming with me, or going with another one of the guys?" Jake says, getting up and stretching.
"I'll go with you. No offense you guys,"
"Nope,"
"None taken,"
"S'cool. We'll be seeing plenty of you in a week," Jake swings his keys around his finger.
"Yeah, let's go. I'm tired," I say to him. We both walk out.
"I think you'll have a ton of fun on Warped,"
"You think?"
"Yeah, I do,"
"I'm glad.... you pulled me off of that bridge,"
"Really?"
"Yeah, I am,"
"Good," it's difficult to admit that, but it's true.
We drive the rest of the way in silence, and get inside the house. We both traipse instantly to our rooms. I'm taking my makeup off at the vanity when Jake clears his throat. I turn, and he's leaning awkwardly against the door frame.
"Hey,"
"Hi," he replies.
"Um...what's up?"
"Uh.."
"Can I ask why you're just leaning against the door frame?"
"Um... I don't know?"
"You seem like you do. Is something wrong?"
"No, nothing is wrong,"
"Um, okay. Well, goodnight?"
"Y-yeah, goodnight," but he doesn't leave.
"Jake, seriously. Is something up?" he shakes his head.
"Um, no," I cross to the bed, and sit down. "Yeah, sorry. Sleep well,"
"Yeah, you too," I shake my own head. What on earth has gotten into him?
"I'm sorry," he says and crosses the room. He hugs me.
"For what?"
"Being weird, this," and he pulls back and kisses me full on the mouth. I close my eyes and kiss him back. He breaks the kiss and jets out of the room.
"Goodnight," I say in a daze, getting up, shutting the light off, and going to bed.
