I Fucking Suffered (for Lily)

“Really, though, Ashley. I’m fine.” Lily began walking away from him, but he followed.
“I know what your dad is doing to you, Lily. You can’t let him keep doing this.” Ashley pleaded.
Lily turned to face him and shook her head. “He’s not doing anything, Ashley. Everything is my fault, okay? It’s all me.”
She hated to get in a fight with him, but she didn’t want him thrusting his nose into her business. Most importantly, she wanted to keep him safe. If her father ever found out she told anyone, he wouldn’t let her forget it.
“Yeah, well, fuck you too!” Her father shouted at the phone before slamming it down.
Lily shrunk back at the volume of his angry voice and tried her best to be avoided. She just wanted to slip into her room without being noticed.
“You!” Her dad called out when he spotted her trying to sneak through the hallway.
Lily dropped her bag and her arms flew up in front of her face to protect her from his violent blows. Her father was only good at one thing, and that was pummeling his frustrations to death through his own daughter’s body.
She cried, and pleaded for him to stop but it was no use. The door to her bedroom flew open and Ashley and his best friend, Andy, came running out.
Andy grabbed Lily and picked her up in his arms, carrying her outside to the car waiting out front. Ashley fought off her dad long enough for Andy to make it outside with her safely. As soon as Andy gave him the ‘okay’ Ashley booked it out of the house and jumped in the car.
Inside the car, all of Black Veil Brides was crammed into the small space. Jinxx was driving, Jake was next to him and Andy, Ashley, CC and Lily were all crammed in the back seat.
“Where are we going? What’s going on?” Lily asked as Jinxx sped down the street.
“We’re taking you on tour with us. We can’t let you stay there with your dad any longer.” Ashley explained. “It’s not safe for you. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I came home from tour to find out that I had to attend your funeral.”
Andy nodded in agreement. “I mean, yeah, Lily. We all care about you a lot. We want you to be safe.”
Lily smiled slightly at Andy’s words. She had grown a big attraction towards him ever since Ashley introduced him to her. Being best friends with Ashley had its perks.

At night, her thoughts grew worse. The demons inside her mind crawled out of their hiding places and fed off her good thoughts. They devoured her optimism and turned it into turmoil. The darkness took over.
Because she was with the boys, she didn’t want to do anything that would scare them. Usually, she would go find her father and most likely be beaten by him. He had trained her mind to think that everything was always her fault, and so she felt at times she deserved her beatings. It was better than slicing her skin open, she figured.
But now, she had no way of ridding her mind of these treacherous thoughts. She pictured herself stepping off the tallest bridge, or downing that bottle of medication in the cabinet.
Then, the light turned on, and all her demons hid away again as she looked up at Andy.
“Oh, sorry. I forgot you were in here.” He said, backing away. But then he noticed her tears. “Are you crying?”
She sniffled and nodded. “Sorry, I just…” She trailed off.
He sat down by her, putting a comforting arm around her shoulders. “Are you okay?”
She shook her head. “I want to die, Andy. I don’t want to be here anymore. I can’t do this. I have nothing to live for. I fucking suffered.”
Andy rubbed her back by her shoulder blade. “It’s okay.” He assured. “You’re safe with us now. You don’t ever have to return to your dad. You can stay with Ashley from now on. Or even me if you want. The future is bright. You just have to believe it is, and it will happen for you.” He kissed her forehead and she melted into his side. Andy’s words had always kept her alive.
