Stupid question? help!

Okay... I'm new to this wrtie-a-fanfiction-on-the-internet thing...

So when I want to start a new story, it tells me i have to pick between G, PG, PG-13, R or NC-17

could someone please tell me what that means? 0.0

I have been writing stories my whole life, but always only to myself... I never really thought they were good enough, but now my friend has told me I should just do it ^^'

I have the same problem; I don't know the difference between NC17 and R.
  • Rated G: General Audiences – All Ages Admitted.
  • Rated PG: Parental Guidance Suggested – Some Material May Not be Suitable for Children.
  • Rated PG-13: Parents Strongly Cautioned – Some Material May be Inappropriate for Children Under 13.
  • Rated R: Restricted – Under 17 Requires Accompanying Parent or Adult Guardian.
  • Rated NC-17: No One 17 and Under Admitted.

I hope this helps a bit :) I looked it up yesterday, before posting my first story becasue I didn't know either :)
To be honest, it really doesn't matter all that much. I know it's required and whatnot but do you really think that a 7-10 year old is going to be searching up Black Veil Brides fan-fiction? Maybe, but highly unlikely. I rate all of my stories as R only because people are most interested in R rated stories. Don't ask me why. Probably because they think that more interesting things will happen like sex, drugs, rape, abuse, swearing, and stuff like that. Yeah, I swear often in my stories and maybe that's why I've always rated them R but when I create a new story, I pick R because I know more people will click on it. It also gives you a bit more freedom to really do whatever the fuck you want in your story. If it's rated R, you can honestly do anything. If you rate it G or PG, you're limited. Some people actually go by rating and if they see a PG fic with tons of shit like swears, rape and everything I mentioned above, they won't be happy. So, I guess my advice is just do what I do and make everything either R or NC17. That way, you have the freedom to write whatever you want and people will be more interested just based on the rating.

i'm share that you will make the right choice so just go with what you think is the right one and if it's not change it I've changed mine three times because I keep on debating whether or not to have mine R or PG-13
