The Adopted

I was upstairs, practicing some basic commands with Riley, it's always good to keep her on her toes and it passed the time away. She was trained fluently in German and with hand signals, so only I can command her, but most people are afraid of her since she is a Pit Bull rather than the fact that she is terrifyingly smart when it comes to getting your food.
"Sitzen." I command her to sit. I may be deaf, but I can still speak. It comes out a bit odd so I've learned, but I get my point across.
"Bleiben." I said, ordering her to stay. She did as told as I stepped back all the way across the room.
"Kommen." I ordered her to come.
After running through everything again, but only with hand signals, did I end the session with one more command. She did as told and I gave her a treat just as I felt the vibrations of someone knocking on my door. Ms. Gossen opened my door and let herself in.
"Someone's here to see you. They are here for an interview to adopt you." I read her lips.
I reluctantly nodded and grabbed Riley's harness and followed her downstairs. I found a man with blonde hair and a women with black hair waiting for me, just beyond them I saw a women with red and black hair and a man with black hair withe their backs turned to me, talking to Ms. Sole, another women who runs the orphanage.
"Eeeeeeh! Oh my! Harry, we can not adopt her. I knew she was deaf, but you didn't tell me she had a beast for a service animal!" She shrieked, causing the lady with red and black hair to turn around. My mouth dropped open when I saw who it was. Looking back at me was THE Sammi Doll and who I can only assume is Jinxx.
"I'm sorry, but anyone who talks about a child or child's belongings like that must leave." I read Ms. Gossen's lips. The man, Harry, angrily took his wife or girlfriends hand and left.
I sighed and made my way back up to my room, trying my best to hide my tears. Riley and I were a package deal, where I go she goes, so this wasn't uncommon, but it still really hurt. I laid face first on the couch in my room, with Riley beside me on the floor. I rubbed her and laid like that for about 10 minutes before someone tapped me on the shoulder. I looked up to see a confused Sammi Doll and Jinxx.
"We've been talking to you for 5 minutes, why haven't you answered us?" Sammi's lips read. I looked to see Jinxx nod.
"I'm deaf." I simply answered. They both looked shocked as I sat up and made room on either side of me. Sammi tapped me on the shoulder once she sat on my left side.
"Then how can you understand us?" She asked.
"I can read your lips, but if I'm not looking at you I can't understand you." I explained. Jinxx tapped my shoulder, making me look at him.
"But all the deaf people I know can't talk, how can you?" He questioned.
"All deaf people can talk, some choose not too." I explained. After many questions like, how old are you, what's your full name, they finally ask me the one I was waiting on.
"So, what's your favorite band?" He asked, looking around at all the band posters I had up in my room.
I assume he was just trying to make small talk in an awkward moment. I gave him the one minute sign and made a list. I 'coincidentally' put 'Black Veil Brides', 'My Satellite', and 'Unholy Graves' (<---HEY!! That's my band!!!!) all together.
"Cool...oh hey! I've heard of 'Unholy Graves'!" Sammi exclaimed. I just smiled and nodded.
"So Hannah, I know this is really sudden, but do you wanna come live with us? We've been looking to adopt and just got approve for an adoption, we think you would be a great addition in our family." Jinxx asked, wrapping his arm around Sammi's shoulder. I thought about it and remembered Riley.
"What about Riley, my service dog? I don't go anywhere without her." I told them, Riley was staring at me.
"Of course! We love animals! We actually have 4 named Andy, Ashley, Jake, and CC." Sammi said, but was hard to understand because she kept moving. I nodded and smiled. Soon I was enveloped in a group hug.
"Okay, well. Pack your bags and we'll come pick you up tomorrow morning." Jinxx said getting up and going to go find Ms. Gossen. Sammi hugged me once more before going with him. I sighed and went upstairs to pack my things with Riley by my side. Maybe now we actually have a home.
